Lauren, if you want a real shark experience try a cage free shark feeding in the Bahamas. They do feedings with reef sharks, which aren’t hunters but prefer dead fish instead.

2024-09-27 16:37:57 +0000 UTCAirline seats in economy are so small, but as someone who is also buying a seat I want to be able to fly comfortably as well. I was flying to a funeral and the person next to me didn’t fit in her seat and took up about a quarter of mine and it was so uncomfortable. I think ultimately the airlines are the assholes for making the seats so small. As far as the cult conversation—I understand the feeling that speaking about organizations like Peleton as a cult may be considered disrespectful by some. However, I also think those conversations contribute to the larger conversation about what a cult is and isn’t. People don’t join cults thinking “oh, this is a cult! Yay!” They miss small red flags and then progressively bigger and bigger red flags, and cults do things that way on purpose. Look at NXIVM—it wasn’t religious and someone could have easily brushed it off as just a personal growth company. Understanding the languaging and dynamics of a cult mindset with something like Peleton can be important to seeing those smaller red flags before you get trapped in a harmful cult.

2024-09-27 14:20:09 +0000 UTCThe story about the mom and husband, he was groomed. I think he also is a victim of it all. If roles were reversed, people would cut the woman a lot of slack. Not that she needs to be married to him, but the husband is also a victim here.

2023-05-02 05:42:21 +0000 UTCI am so passionate about educating people about cults because people truly don’t know how oppressed these people in the cults are. I left a cult that I was a part of! My parents raised me in this Christian cult that was like almost Amish like. I always never understood why I was not allowed to do certain things. My parents would always say because God doesn’t allow it. A lot of these people that are in cults , use their religion to justify their harming actions towards others. A lot of sexual abuse, emotional, physical abuse goes on in these cults. If you ever meet someone who has been in a cult, trust me they have courage most people could never experience in their lifetime. I wish more people knew about these cults! Morgan I’m so happy you did a podcast on it, even speaking about it, brings awareness to others who have no clue about it. Thank you!!!

2023-04-30 20:33:42 +0000 UTCStory #3. The mom not doing anything more than kissing while he was still underage probably had way more to do with the grooming she was doing than any of the legal aspects. Groomers go slow so the victim doesn’t see the red flags and tell or push back…they slowly spin rhetoric to brain wash the victim and slowly introduce intimacy. Plus she would have done all of this before his brain was fully developed. By the time grooming victims are an adult they can’t see the Forrest for the trees anymore. She’s a predator through and through, it doesn’t surprise me someone mentioned an additional update where she had affairs with others and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were also groomed from a young age.

2023-04-30 16:43:33 +0000 UTCHi guys!! I’m from PA (philly 😛) and currently live in central PA (lancaster to be exact) and omg the Amish thing is crazy out here. There’s so much to know about them but it’s really dark and sad stuff. If you want a really good documentary to watch about them it’s on peacock called sins of the Amish and it’s a really good look into the religion and lifestyle with people who are ex members sharing their stories you guys have to check it out!!

2023-04-30 00:26:36 +0000 UTCLoved this episode! And I just wanna say thank you for releasing the content sporadically throughout the month this month, even with everything you have going on! One thing I will say as a divorce attorney… you’re incorrect about the bio dad being able to get custody. Google the marital presumption of paternity.

2023-04-29 19:25:32 +0000 UTChey morgan!! first time commenting since becoming a member here, i LOVED this bonus episode so so much. i also wanted to explain why i personally was a little put off by the cult episode. first was that it was a little hard to get through because i felt like they kept interrupting you and talking over you. i was frustrated and i just wanted to yell LET MORGAN SPEAKKK. second was about the story of the guy in the “cult” where there was the one woman and she had many guys “wrapped around her finger” in a way. i was disappointed because once they focused in on the fact that OP was a man, they really discounted everything he went through, and hearing your and lauren’s thoughts about men being victims in this story, i’m even more confused because you felt bad for the husband after you found out that he was groomed, which i completely agree with (although he still massively sucks). men can be victims!! just because OP was a man doesn’t mean the woman who was leading this cult was a “girlboss” or “getting the bag,” because i dont think that’s what was happening there. it might have been a joke when you guys were talking about that so maybe i just didn’t catch on, but it was still unsettling. that’s pretty much it, but for me the main thing that made it hard to get through the episode was the interrupting lol because i LOVE hearing you talk and the way you read these stories, it’s your podcast and i just felt they were being a little disrespectful, although i know it wasn’t their intention. loved this bonus episode and just thought i would give you my personal hot take 🩷

2023-04-29 12:17:21 +0000 UTCSounds like a cult is based on the way that “cultish” language can exist in contexts outside of religious/extreme cults. It can exist in groups that we are familiar with. They will look at groups and notice what kind of language they use that serves different functions - for ex creating us vs. them mentality or thought terminating cliches, and other common cult tactics. It’s not about creating an equivalency between dangerous cults, and groups that have a “cult following” it’s just highlighting how this language is more common than we think. It actually can serve as a way to point out that everyone can be susceptible to a cult. Which is important in creating empathy for survivors of cults.

2023-04-28 21:02:26 +0000 UTCThats good. I don't think in the states they would. Even stepparents that get divorced don't have any rights to the kids they raised in a lot of cases ive seen.
