Inside Out | Full Length | Movie✨

Hi everyone, lil surprise drop for ya! I've been hearing incredible things about Inside Out and the sequel - so I thought why not go ahead and finally watch it!

I was not prepared for how real this movie was going to be. It's the first movie I've watched where I actually related so hard to the plot and the feelings - moving from NY to NC when I was 13.

I absolutely loved this movie and I'm super excited to watch the sequel soon. I hope y'all enjoy! 💜

Moving from a small town in Massachusetts to Atlanta when I was 8 was really hard, so this movie really hits home for me. Some similarities there to both your experience moving from the north to the south, and Riley's experience moving from small town to big city (though Atlanta doesn't really feel like a big city in the same way as SF). I moved back to that same small town in MA for my freshman year of high school and that was another big adjustment, reconnecting with the kids I was friends with when I was little but now there was a gulf between. For example I'd absorbed a lot of homophobia growing up in Atlanta in the 90s, whereas my original MA hometown was a queer mecca, so I made some dumb homophobic jokes in the first few days of highschool and got deservedly cold reactions.

Why challenge yourself like this 🤣 Honestly, I think this might be my favorite Pixar movie - which says a lot considering I'm 29 and grew up with Toy Story and others haha. I'm so excited to watch the sequel!

God... I told myself I wasn't going to cry while watching this again. I failed. I failed so miserably. That scene where Riley finally breaks down with her parents gets to me every time. I really like all the little touches of light neuroscience in both the designs and the broader functionalities for how the mind works in this movie. You mentioned the emotions looking fuzzy during this reaction- and I'm kinda thinking that this is because they're like, supposed to represent what smaller molecules like proteins often look like under an electron microscope. Because that's very much what stuff in the body starts to look like when you magnify it that much... all sorta fuzzed at the edges, a bit indistinct. It's a fun little detail, I think. The other thing that's really neat about this movie is that I've read it was a huge aid in children's therapy- it was definitely a highly trafficked movie at the time, and so some professionals were able to use these characters as visual aids to help very young kids identify what kinds of emotions they were feeling where they may not have been able to fully process them otherwise. Genuinely my favorite Pixar film, I think.

The representation of bing bong dying hits a lot of people because in a way it’s basically a whole piece of your childhood and especially, your innocence/imagination dying and fading as you grow. It’s very sad but relatable :((
