Evil Within 1 - Another Horrible Boss
Added 2023-04-01 00:09:10 +0000 UTCThe Evil Within 1 hasn't won yet, I'm still in there, tenacious, no matter how many crap boss battles it throws at me. I'm trapped within The Evil Within like those Germans in that submarine in Das Boot. But i'm gonna rise from these depths of doom, just you wait.
By far the worst thing about this game is the insistence on making every boss fight a combination insta-kill/puzzle room. The actual combat is decent enough when it allows you to just fight.
But Evil Within's idea of a perfect scare is to have you running in circles from a boss that clobbers you to hell in one hit, running out of stamina every 2 steps and looking for the right combination of levers and/or valves to screw around with while Soundcloud tier noise music screeches in your head on a cacophonous loop.
But i'm pushing through, i'm soldiering on, soon i'll conquer this game and get back to my regularly scheduled Evil Within 2, remember when i was playing that? Sometimes you have to go back to go forward, and once i'm done with that one maybe just maybe i'll get to have some semblance of a normal life before someone does something asinine and makes The Evil Within 3.
