Louis was his family's dog? Well, that's even more strange and I had not even thought of that. But it still doesn't explain why he even carries Louis with him, much like a child. Jaejun was even watching TV with Louis like a normal owner of pets (with pets that allow you to carry them/hold them). But maybe it's not strange for him to have the dog if he has a possessive streak, only that he doesn't treat his family's dog like he treats humans (Moon, other victims). He even did this with Yeseol whenever he found out she was possibly his daughter. But I still think he treats Louis way way better than he treats anyone else.

Jaejun is one of those simmering assholes that could lash out at any moment with lots of violence. i think that is another reason why Yeonjin never married him. He wasn't rich enough and he always had other women...

2024-06-13 07:53:45 +0000 UTCI don't know if that would translate to how he would treat his literal daughter, but it is interesting that they gave him a family-friendly dog like a Cocker Spaniel. They are hunting dogs, yes, but they're not like typical-looking hunting dogs. They're very happy, excitable breeds. You can even see the dog in the background during the series, running around the room (if the dog isn't running around in front), lol. His dog breed is like the one from Lady & The Tramp (Disney cartoon film) because Lady is a Cocker Spaniel, too. I do wonder how Jae-Jung got the dog in-series. It's such a small thing but it also has a big impact on how his character is portrayed. It's almost like a comedy trope, but less comical because Louis (the dog) is not tiny like a purse dog (Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, etc), but he has the same energy. Louis (the dog) would fit more with someone like Sun-a (the ex-maid's daughter and the ex-maid, too) but that would probably be less intriguing (as a viewer of the series) since we know Sun-a is not a bad person.

2024-06-12 07:28:40 +0000 UTCI remember watching the dog scene and thinking, "He's not gonna kill his dog, is he?" So I was relieved he only got the dog's fur trimmed; but it is hard to judge based on how his character is written. Probably would have made more sense IF he had killed the dog, but...uh, I guess this is his 'pet the dog' moment where he cares about his pet more than anyone else, making him 'slightly' more humane than his errand boy. In terms of comparisons between the two male bullies. Like the tattoo neck guy was kicking at the dog, while we have never seen the dog's owner do that (I think?). It's just...interesting. They're both horrible, but one treats animals more humanely than the other (which almost makes him more heinous because you wouldn't expect it after how he treated the main protagonist, Moon). You know, if you see a bully in media, you usually just would write them as hating everyone and everything, but with Jae-Jung (?), he is very caring to his dog (and on top of that, it's a friendly, loving breed of dog, not like an attack dog like you usually see with villains, so it's a subversion of the trope). But you see how he treats other people around, and it just doesn't fit in your mind how he treats his dog. That was a creative writing thing they put into the storyline.

It's on my list of the best shows I've watched and I love seeing others' thoughts on it :') Definitely not for everyone due to how dark it gets but maaaan, I feel like everything is so thought through and has a purpose.
