I also just listened to the new Beyoncé album and my mini-review is Good For Her? As much as I think she's a great performer, I don't love most of her music, but this album is certainly ambitious. I wish she had done more folk country tracks like "Alligator Tears", "Protector", and “Daughter” especially with that nice little “Caro Mio Ben” aria cover at the end. I also really enjoyed her voice combined with Miley's, even though the chords in the verse sound like Fleetwood Mac's Landslide. But hey, it's still a pretty song. Curious what your thoughts are if you've listened, especially if you're a country fan. Also, curious that I'm working on the Beatles episode and she covered Blackbird. Speaking of...

Late Night With The Devil 😈
What a movie! The 70s aesthetic and satire were so well done, the horror references were legit, the little possessed girl was fabulously creepy, the tone was beautifully wild. Colin and Cameron Cairnes have made a gem of a film, offering us a refreshing take on the found footage formula, mixing it with live TV, making you feel like you're part of the audience watching the late night craziness from your couch at home. The use of the actors looking at the camera was so effective in making you feel like the devil might jump through your TV ala Samara from The Ring.
Sure, some of it doesn't make sense, but fantasy doesn't bother me when it entertains, so I hope it paves the way for more filmmakers to take risks and not put so many constraints on themselves when creating. Also, cheers to one of my favorite horror movie endings in a while.
Regarding the AI conversation, I think it's dumb that some people are trying to boycott the film, when the crew is full of so many great, hardworking artists that created both the physical and digital effects. AI should just be another type of technology for us to learn and use for art, as well as helping humans. Just because some douchebags that only care about profit are using it the wrong way, that doesn't mean we have to. But now, a word from our sponsors...

That first record was all over the place genre-wise, so hope Beyonce also influences more pop artists to take risks. But also, I still want her neo-soul album. Excited to see what friend you try to absorb into our cult 😂

2024-04-01 18:55:55 +0000 UTCI really liked the Beyoncé album! My favorites go between being Daughter, II Most Wanted (ft. Miley), and Bodyguard. Agreed on wishing she had done more straight up folk country because I loved Daughter and Protector so much. Overall, I love the ambition on display and it makes me wish more mainstream artists were willing to play with genre to this extent. Love the Patron Offer and am working on it as we speak 😂. Excited about the 30 day movie challenge and the interviews! So I agree on Late Night with the Devil! I liked it a lot. I need one more watch to determine if I love it, it was a movie I heard so much about that I had huge expectations going into and was just processing it heavily while watching it. I need another watch where I can just soak it in. I thought the creepy little girl was absolutely fantastic! It didn’t scare me overall but I found it fun and unsettling. Think it’ll work really well on an actual TV! Best horror of the year so far considering the only other that I’ve seen was Immaculate and it disappointed me.
