As 2023 comes to a close in the blink of a Barbenheimer, a little crow may have told you this Head Witch in Charge is going through some changes. What the hell can you expect from me as a Patron? My Whirl Girls funeral - First up, I’m leaving the Whirl Girls! Ok, so this one’s not as fun. I’m honestly pretty sad about it. Even though it’s time, I’m gonna miss the shit out of those girls and that wonderful community. Can you believe it’s been 4 years of whirls? You can now watch my funeral at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and our last Livestream together is Wednesday December 13th. Our lovely editor, Evan, is putting together a lil something for the following Wednesday. I hope the whirlfriends will stay with the girls after my retirement and also join my coven, like some of you familiars already have.

What’s next for me?

DJ Bruja Radio - My new radio show premieres on MixCloud this Tuesday November 28th at 5 pm PT. Every week, we'll be diving into a different genre. One week, we go full goth with Bauhaus and The Cure. The next episode, we dive into the world of Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, and other great synth scores. Breakup songs, horror film scores, protest music, trip hop, rock en español… The possibilities are endless. I’ll also have some special guests pop in, like my good friend Ken Napzok who’s stopping by the premiere, so follow the show on Mixcloud cause you don’t wanna miss it LIVE!

Full Moon Ritual - November 27 - Save the date for our very first group full moon ritual happening on the Discord in the Bruja Lounge at 6 pm PT. Make sure to bring: 1 piece of paper, 1 pen, 1 lighter, 1 fireproof bowl, 1 open soul (don't worry, I won't eat or sacrifice it)

Watchalong - December 20 - What should we watch together for xmas? Batman Returns? Gremlins? Every month we’ll watch something fun together like a horror movie, a nature documentary, one of my many music video collections. Suggestions are always welcome, and, if you’re a Top Tier patron, you get to vote!

DJ Bruja New Year’s Eve Party - December 31 - Come dance the New Year depression away with me as we say goodbye to 2023 together. Some of you are welcome to join the stream and dance with me on camera! If I have too much champagne, I promise to lick the screen at midnight.

What should you watch and listen to?

I got to see Meshuggah for the second time this week. They're a Swedish metal band who literally rocks and shakes your soul, if you watch them live. Their musicianship is from another world with syncopated jazz like tempos and the craziest drumming I’ve seen live. Just ask fellow familiar, Ryan Payne, in the Discord. He accompanied me and had quite the experience with his first metal show. They played my favorite song, Bleed, which I like to listen to when I'm on my period. Listen here

Have y'all listened to Andre 3000's new album yet? This man decided we all need healing and recorded 80 minutes of relaxing spiritual flute music tuned to 432 hz, which improves mental clarity, removes emotional blockages, reduces stress and anxiety, and helps you sleep. He also came up with the best track names I've ever seen, like "That Night in Hawaii When I Turned into a Panther and Started Making These Low Register Purring Tones That I Couldn't Control ... Sh¥t Was Wild." Listen here

Some of you know my favorite movie of the year is Infinity Pool, but the best horror movie of the year is When Evil Lurks. If you’re a genre fan, you must run and watch it now on Shudder! I also recently got to see Priscilla and Saltburn which were both really well filmed, dark-ish, ridiculous movies with great acting and excellent soundtracks. If you’re interested in humanistic politics and are against wars, I highly recommend this documentary called Israelism, which is available to rent until November 26th.

My advice to you this Thanksgiving is to remain grateful while also making your family watch Addams Family Values due to its awesome and perfect holiday messaging. And, if you’re a Hispanic against the war asking for a ceasefire, you could say “no-fire” instead of “si-fire” so people get it.
