2024-08-07 17:49:28 +0000 UTCI love how JK delivers songs. He knows how to work his vocals. Absolutely brilliant. I love his artistry to pieces. But.. it's probably going to be an unpopular opinion.. but I think I would have enjoyed the b-sides on the album a little more if the songs were more about his actual experiences in life. At times I didn't feel that connected to the songs, because I didn't feel like he would actually say those things in real life.. like pops etc (like I would actually know how he really is π).. BUT yet again, totally a personal opinion and not saying that the songs aren't good, just felt like the b-sides didn't touch me as much as the singles did. All-in-all a very solid album. Faves: Seven, Standing Next To You, Hate You (the vocals are just so-so good).

2023-12-17 19:16:34 +0000 UTCthank u sm for this caitlin! rly liked ur producer brain going to work on these songs too haha. i loveddd jungkook's vocal range in this album. i think since he specified the stories weren't his own bc he had no personal message he wanted to convey for the record and wanted to focus on experimenting w different vocal techniques, i'm way more immersed in his voice than the lyrics or production. my top 3 would be shot glass full of tears, yes or no, and hate u <3 thank u again for the reaction and ur thoughts, much love :)

Somebody I really like this album, even if it wasn't exactly what was I expecting from him (in the creative process, I think it was a little simple) I really have high expectations for Jk, because I love the way he writes and comes with original melodies in past song, sadly that wasn't here yk? Anyways, his delivery is AMAZING in all the songs, I think it's obvious how he can make you feel what he's singing about and that especially stand out to me in "Somebody", when he sings that live, I died π It become my fav because of the sarcastic tone and the passive aggressive in his voice, I'm obsessed with the "Say it again, Say it again" partπ₯ Oh, he really sound exactly the same in the live version, so the production was "strange" because of the open space in the first verse, but he did that exactly the same even in a Live in Weverse and his Golden Concertπ

2023-12-17 15:21:11 +0000 UTCHi Caitlin! Oh, well... your intro sounds like some people complained about the timing of your reactions, and I hope you don't take it to heart too much. It's absolutely fine for you to take your time and go at your own pace. You're human, not a content machine. I'm also mostly here for BTS content (and kdramas), but waiting doesn't hurt. Now, for the album... as you said, it does feel very JK. And looking back at BTS albums...people who think their albums have always been PG13 need to read Converse High lyrics π Even after this long I have trouble choosing a top 3, it keeps changing all the time...but currently it's probably 1. Shot glass of tears 2. Somebody 3. Standing next to you Please don't change means a lot to me too, because JK said it's for army, and especially with the military service, his promise to not change while he's away, while asking ARMY to also not change and stay who we are in that time, it hits home. When I heard Somebody for the forst time, I had the same reaction π His voice in the beginning truly is something different. But he did pull that off live as well, it's amazing what he can do with his vocals. While, as always with BTS and the members, the recordings are impeccable, live it's even better. Especially in Hate You, the moment with just the harmonizations towards the end, hits much much harder live for me. When it comes to live performances...he performed all the songs, some more than others. There's an iHeart radio performance of Hate you, he did closer to you for audacy and please don't change and yes or no for his surprise performance on times square....and then he performed his entire album (plus Magic Shop and Still with you) in his Golden Showcase. That Showcase, or Concert, was pure gold. It felt more like a high production live stream with live audience. Like...his usual relaxing karaoke live streams on weverse from his living room. With talking segments, him interacting with the armys there and just sitting on the floor. Very warm and familiar. Plus: as VCR he showed a new G.C.F from Budapest and uff.... we saw him in some...unexpected circumstances π I'm looking forward to your reactions to the live performances when you get to them, and until then I hope you have lovely christmas days and that you get to relax a bit since your last exams are over. π
