Progress Update + Hairstyle Showcase + Attending the Game Developer Conference

Today, I’m sharing a small update on our progress on the live mode, showcasing a new hairstyle and sharing my experience attending the Game Developer Conference. This post is for Patrons only so please don’t share it, thank you!
🍎 Live Mode Progress
I’m getting really excited these days because we are working on having a first version of many core gameplay systems in the game. This includes needs, wants, emotions, memories and more. Our goal is to have a simple version of these systems running so that we can add complexity and various game mechanisms tied to them after. We don’t have anything to show just yet because it’s a lot of design documents and first tests in the game but I’m so looking forward to showing you sneak peeks of that!
💇♀️ New Hairstyle
Léa just created a new ponytail hairstyle which I really really love! Here’s how it looks on Maggie.

When wearing a hat, we automatically swap the hairstyle to an adapted version specifically made for that situation. Notice how the ponytail is lower down the neck on the right image.
🎫 Attending the Game Developer Conference
Two weeks ago, I went to the Game Developer Conference (GDC). It’s the biggest yearly event for people in the industry. It’s an occasion to network, learn about new technologies and attend talks about various topics like programming, game design, art, audio, production, marketing and more.
I learned a lot and was very inspired by all the great stuff that other developers are doing. Also, I met many people who were really excited for Paralives, which was heartwarming and motivating!

About 28 000 game developers attended the conference this year, which is a lot of people!

At this time we plan on having the hairstyles customizable in the sense that you will be able to pick from a hairstyle with a ponytail and bangs or a hairstyle with just a ponytail, for example! We are working towards creating as much content as possible in time for the base game launch :)

I'm really excited to see longer hair like this and how it behaves with the hair physics. The problem with longer hairstyles in Sims is how stiff and strange it looks when sims are moving around. It would also be super cute if the hairstyle allowed for the option of different hair ties to use around the ponytail.

Some hairstyles are more of a priority than others but we plan on adding as much content as possible as time goes :)

I always liked the versatility of having the option of a hairstyle that's down and loose around their head and then having a version of it put up into a ponytail or bun and vice versa. Some physics would be cool too, but I know that is A LOT of hard and extra work.

2023-04-07 15:11:59 +0000 UTChappy to hear that other people you met were excited about paralives and you had fun. thanks for sharing. 🥰 also, fantastic hair!! something to consider if you haven't already: down versions of the hair for any updos like a ponytail? it can be frustrating if you changed your hair for a sports outfit with a ponytail with bangs, but then for casual loose hair there's no down hair that has matching/similar bangs so it feels like a completely different cut. think this is probably a bigger issue for bangs vs no bangs

Like, without anything, with strands and with bangs. It makes such a bigger variety. In the other big game, we shall not name, I really didn't like it, that I couldn't use 95 % of the hair on a person, just because the front was not fitting. I mean, you don't cut your hair for bed and grow it back in the morning. :D
