Stretch Goals and Recruitment Update
Added 2020-08-28 20:49:21 +0000 UTCHey there!
Goals and Stretch Goals
A few months ago, after Maggie's reveal, we reached our final $36 000 / month goal. That's totally amazing and incredible! I'm so happy that we'll be able to reach our target team size of 10 people! Now, we are starting to think about stretch goals. These are features or things that we could do if we had even more resources and people on the team. We're thinking of adding some stretch goals in the near future so tell us in the comments if you have ideas for things we could add as stretch goals! It can be a console port, a new big feature that is not planned right now, etc.

Note that our $31 000 / month goal is now to recruit a UI artist! Also, there's only 9 out of 10 people on that image but we'll probably be able to recruit one extra member with the company saving. Not sure yet but it might be a programmer, a 3D artist, a QA tester, a producer, etc.
Recruitment Update
This summer, we wanted to recruit new members on the team. It went pretty well since Anna (programmer), Alice (animator) and Jérémie (programmer) all joined us in the last 3 months! However, we're still looking for a 3D artist. The process took longer than expected because we are looking for someone with a lot of experience and who will fit perfectly in the team. But we're still looking!
Also, we started to think about music and working with a composer. Our plan is to work with a few people to create a few test tracks that we could showcase in a future video. We already selected and contacted a few composers. Then, we'll be able to select one of them to work with for the rest of the soundtrack.
Lastly, as mentioned above, we'll soon be looking to recruit a UI artist to help us create all the user interfaces in the game. There's a lot of work to do on that side so it will be great to have very clean and easy to use menus and interfaces in Paralives!
Legend tier Reward: Creating townies for Patrons
Thanks so much to everyone on the Legend tier who already pledged for 3 months and unlocked the rewards! For now, we need to add more hairstyles, more clothing options and more content before we can create everyone's character. So it will take some time before we are ready to create all these Parafolks. But rest assured, as long as you pledged on the Legend tier for 3 months in total (and they do not have to be in a row), we will create a character for you! We will contact everyone, when we are ready, to ask for reference pictures and info about the Para. Same thing goes for the "Name an object" Hero tier reward, we will contact you when we are ready! Take a look at this page for more info about the different Patreon rewards: https://www.paralives.com/patreonrewards
What we did this week
We don't have anything new to show these days since we are focusing on improving what we have and building the foundation for new features. But we'll have stuff to show in the coming weeks! Meanwhile, here's what we did this week:
- Léa worked on improving the character 3D model. Last week's post showed the hand improvements and Léa kept working on other parts of the body and head. She also did some research for our clothing system
- Alice worked on the animation system design and is doing a lot of research related to that
- Christine worked on the summary for the LGBTQIA+ survey and started to think about our next diversity survey about disabilities
- Anna made some progress on the Genetics system. Thanks for everyone's feedback in last week's Patreon post!
- Jérémie did some work on improving the build tools. He also started to work on allowing modders to import 3D models into the game (for custom clothes, furniture, etc)
- I (Alex) made some general code improvements and assisted everyone
A quick poll to end the week! When you play PC/Mac games, do you usually install mods and custom content?
Have a great weekend everyone :)
Alex

The only reason I download mods and custom content for the sims 4 is because the game is lacking imo. If the game had more (for lack of better words) fun/interesting gameplay I wouldn't need mods to enhance my game. Basically, it depends on how the original game is, if I have fun playing w/o mods then I won't get any.
2021-05-25 20:03:51 +0000 UTCYou guys should create a tool to creates MODS that should be available right IN game. That tool should be able to detect if mods are matching or not, what is it creating trouble, and correct mistake quite autonomosly. And I think game should be as much costumable as possible (ex would be great to be able choos wich feature I can toun on or off)

2021-01-07 15:51:22 +0000 UTCIt’s great fun outing mods an objects to play Sims. You can get kind of addicted to trying new things a lot. Even if you’re just like to build houses or you like to dress people or make people. If you add that feature, it would be great to have some way of organizing it, separate or together with the normal stuff and testing each item for bugs.

2020-12-09 20:57:35 +0000 UTCAnd about stretch goals: how about the separated CAW tool like in the Sims 3 but more advanced? My tabloid doesn't let me see the rest of the comments for some reason so please pardon me if somebody has already mentioned it. Please take my like here: ♡.

2020-10-01 09:33:13 +0000 UTCAh, every the Sims games I have (2&3) are filled with the mods: CAS, build/buy and CAW objects, presets, patterns, default replacements, XML-tuning and pure script mods, converted stuff from the other games, etc... ♡ I am not able to play without them because they do a huge favour my gameplay (magical realism with different races and playing my fan fictions). Besides, more complicated mods like scripting and core mods add so many awesome things and changes like rehaul the core systems (food/intregident, story progression, a specific occult life stage), add custom features (hobbies, works, food/intregidents, interactions, traits, whole new features like the disease system in the Sims 3, objects with custom interactions, religious rituals, pets, farming animals...) and remove restrictions which I find unnecessary for my gameplay (curfew, children always need a parent to be with them home, children cannot cast spells/make food...). Please code the game to support all kind of mods; they're the way different people flavour their game as they desire it to be! :3

2020-10-01 09:25:32 +0000 UTCBonjour a tous, je trouve l'idée d'embaucher un testeur QA très intéressante et je veux bien postuler :)
2020-09-23 09:32:44 +0000 UTCHigher more people so it can keep on improving
2020-09-18 14:58:22 +0000 UTCFor big stretch goal ideas, an optional direct control, first person view, and multiplayer dlc would be my first suggestion. Maybe world creator and advanced mod maker tools? For smaller stretch goal ideas maybe really substantial decade packs with clothes and interactions?

2020-09-16 19:25:30 +0000 UTCI am not against mods but I don't like feeling like I need them in order to enjoy a game.

2020-09-16 08:40:22 +0000 UTCI feel like people are answering this question with the Sims 4 in mind. Personally if mod compatibility is an issue that’s fine with me, this game is already 1000x more complete in customization and gameplay than the other one.

2020-09-15 19:03:31 +0000 UTCI need mods and most people agree according to the poll results. Not everyone has the same tastes or wants the same experience as everyone else in these types of games. Mods and CC let you curate your own experience.

2020-09-11 15:35:46 +0000 UTCHonestly I'd prefer to stay away from mods. I've had a ton of mods for previous Sims games and I've decided to go entirely vanilla with TS4, because I was tired of loading times, compatibility/patch issues, and having to track down some mesh in order to get the asset I really want to work. Ugh. This being said, I use mods for other games. A ton of them, as a matter of fact, in Ark Survival Evolved in particular where I have about 50 on my singleplayer savefile and a modest 30 on the server where I play with other people. And I have to admit, everything being centralized on the Workshop makes things way easier than in my experiences with various Sims mods. Regardless, the loading times are a nightmare, and a lot of mods end up being abandoned by their mod dev over time. I'd rather not repeat that kind of experience with other games. And then there's another issue... which is that some games HEAVILY rely on what their community is going to come up with. When mod devs come up with tons of stuff, it seems to give an excuse to some game devs to bring only the bare minimum, as if someone thought "oh, we're gonna give them this tiny thing, if they want more I'm sure they'll find it on the Workshop". It might not be that conscious, to be fair. But it's still a problem. TL;DR : I'm not opposed to mods, but I'd rather avoid them and experience the game vanilla, at least the first few months of playing.

2020-09-10 22:23:29 +0000 UTCI rely heavily on mods for most games after I've played the basics or finished all content in a DLC. I'm sure this game will have more features than other life simulators atm, but I'd still like to expand my game if possible :)

2020-09-10 16:31:39 +0000 UTCModding allows the players to make changes to a game to their specifications, whereas when developers add new ideas to the game it can be hit and miss on whether it is favoured or not.
2020-09-09 13:19:56 +0000 UTCMy exact thoughts.

2020-09-09 07:58:08 +0000 UTCI have never seen a game ever being made worse by modding. 👀

2020-09-09 01:15:03 +0000 UTCI wonder if you could use the stretch goal funds for a feature individual to your game that could be like a random chance card for the Paras. Like as they are living there life they are given a chance card and it can change things greatly on there life. Such as a new trait or some sort of mid life crises chance card. I remember hearing vaguely about that idea when the game was first shown to us in its early states on Twitter and people were giving all kinds of feedback and Ideas on how you could differ Paralives from The Sims. These Chance cards could be a cool way to make gameplay more challenging (i.e. Give your Paras a negative effect) or Possibly help an already hard to manage family in game (i.e. Give the paras a new positive to help them along). U want you to know I'm so excited for this game! I love the passion of this team!

2020-09-07 15:15:31 +0000 UTCFor the stretch goals: I don’t know what you’ve already planned, but here are my two cents: A hobby system. In my opinion, the introduction of the hobby system in the sims 2 FreeTime is one of the most important things that’s been done for the life simulation genre. I know we can do multiple hobby related activities in sims 3 and 4, like swimming, knitting, painting etc etc. But it feels kinda empty, like all the times your sim paints are separate actions without any underlying purpose. The inclusion of a hobby system makes it so much more meaningful in my opinion. It creates something to live for outside of making money and kids. It opens the door for many storylines and gameplay possibilities, and give the whole experience an added layer of depth. Maybe your teenager skips school a lot because she just loves to dance, and that’s all she wanna do. It feels weird to have a sim just randomly dance all day without some system that can make it her passion, or without it having any impact on her life. A hobby system can allow her to think about dance, have a wish to dance all the time, get unhappy if she hasn’t danced for a while, talk about it, autonomously start dancing if unsupervised, participate in competitions, and so on. Maybe some hobbies can be really profitable, while others won’t earn you anything but happiness. Depending on your family, that opens up the door for all sorts of drama. It just makes more sense to me, and the gameplay opportunities that come with it just seem so wonderful and endless. I think it’s also something that could help you showcase the more unique sides of Paralives, and the type of humour/edge/tone the game is going for. So yeah, that’s my take on it. It’s something I’ve really missed ever since the sims 2 showed me it was a possibility.
2020-09-06 00:55:35 +0000 UTCSo true! I was going to look for mods for Sims 3 but never ended up doing it because I have yet to run out of gameplay. I have custom clothes/build mode and worlds, but no script mods. My sims 4 is packed with script mods and I still get bored :( Mods should be there so people can create niche content, not to fix the game.
Maddalena Segato
2020-09-06 00:18:28 +0000 UTCWhile I want the option of mods, it should be an after-thought in game development. Sims 3 and 4 both allow mods, yet in sims 3 I mostly only have custom content because there's so much gameplay I never think of searching for mods. My Sims 4 mods folder instead is bursting with script mods and I still end up getting bored, plus I spend 30minutes updating them every time there's a patch, uggh. Mods should be there to add niche content (say a harry potter mod, mafia mod, prostitution mod, custom weather mod, etc), not to supplement main gameplay.

2020-09-04 20:44:46 +0000 UTCI like and use mods because no matter how great a game is, every individual wants different things, and it's impossible to make everybody happy. Mods fill in that gap I feel like, so that people can add what they personally want to their game. <3
2020-09-04 16:35:34 +0000 UTCIncredible!

2020-09-03 19:56:09 +0000 UTCI'm so happy to see how detail oriented you guys are and continue to be. You have respect for your fans and listen to our opinions. Thank you! Continue down that path and you're going to have one of the strongest gamer communities EVER.

2020-09-03 17:51:44 +0000 UTCTbh i feel like the majority of patreon supporters here are here because they feel unsatisfied with the sims 4 and want a game that doesn’t require tons of mods to have depth but uses tons of mods in the sims 4 because it lacks all those features and details.
2020-09-03 15:27:49 +0000 UTCI never used mods playing the sims 3 (or any game for that matter) and I didn’t start using them until the sims 4. But I’ll vote for it because the option is always nice 🙂

2020-09-03 05:08:40 +0000 UTCthe only reason i have cc and mods on the sims is because the game is broken/lacking so i need the extra stuff to make it playable
2020-09-02 23:26:33 +0000 UTCBtw, Spanish is my first language, I have experience as a translator and proofreader and I'm also a linguist, so if you want help translating the game at any point, I would be happy to help.

2020-09-02 21:20:17 +0000 UTCYou know what would be really cool in paralives, I might be alone in this thinking, but what makes the sims really boring xD is that it's all up to you... You have to think of an interesting story re things don't just happen to you and everything is effort to set up. So for example, I wanted to play a really timid sim but he didn't end up having many friends (expected, I know) and I just kind of wanted something to happen to him, like in fight club where Brad Pitt changes the guy's life around, like it would be really cool if the paras (parapeople?) you didn't play had some personality and at least, invited your para down a different path/route etc. Like "hey, wanna be my new babysitter", "hey, you should disown all your worldy possessions and live in an abandoned house with me" xD, "hey, you're single right? My sister is single and you're just her type", "you've been made redundant, time to look for another job" etc. And for it to be based on you re if your para was married, the other para wouldn't suggest setting you up.... You get so many dumb things like that happening in the sims re your husband telling you he has a massive crush on you, like... Yeah.... We're married. But I don't want to play another para and do it myself, I want the options... I want the fun to be easy, I want to be taken on a journey.
2020-09-02 19:24:23 +0000 UTC😯🧡
2020-09-02 14:56:28 +0000 UTCThis, so much this! I would love to have that kind of generational family gameplay, it's what I loved about Sims 3. Also, random consequences of your bad actions, or good things happening because of good actions, would be amazing. Have a really great relationship with people? They might throw you a surprise party! Cheat on your wife and she finds out from gossip at you being seen around? She turns up at your lovers and throws and causes a public drama. Actual consequences to behaviour, and possibly memory of those consequences making a Para more reticent to do that action again, would be awesome. Could there be a risk indicator - learned behaviour, so if you have been burned before an action comes with a "there's a 50% chance this could result in negative consequences" note or something?

2020-09-02 09:13:17 +0000 UTCI'm not against mods but I feel like a game shouldn't need mods to be a good game that is fun and makes you want to play it. I hear so many people now saying how they can't understand how you could possible enjoy playing the sims4 without mods because it's boring and that's kinda sad. I feel like the base game should be to the point where players don't need or maybe even want mods because they already have such a great time playing the game. I personally don't like to use them and feel they shouldn't be needed. I feel like the sims is relying so much on mods and cc to make up for the huge lack of representation and realisation.
Madison Lee
2020-09-02 06:56:41 +0000 UTCIn the sims 4 i use mods, mainly because the game is lacking any representation.
2020-09-02 02:43:16 +0000 UTCI would like to know that too. I feel like there's a lot of excitement for this project. I wonder what happened.
2020-09-02 02:23:53 +0000 UTCPlz plz don’t make it all about mods,I don’t ever use mods, and I feel that games that allow mods only sell a watered down game and then it to modders. Plz plz don’t
2020-09-02 00:58:11 +0000 UTCI'm so happy to hear about you've been up to, sounds fun. I've used mods mostly for the sims, for all four sims games, mostly because a modder included something that i think is cool that isn't in the official game or they have things that enhance the experience. or for minecraft, gotta use those lightening mods.
2020-09-02 00:23:10 +0000 UTCWhy did they suddenly get so many people unsubscribing from the patreon??
2020-09-01 21:58:19 +0000 UTCMy only experience with downloading mods is for the Sims 4. That only came about because mods increasingly add the kind of features I wish were in the game. They also serve to curtail certain activities/behaviors that I find pretty annoying. I'm desperate for some real story progression and generational family gameplay! It would also be really cool if there were surprise events or unforeseen consequences to your para's actions, just to spice things up every now and then. For example, what if your para told a lie at work and it blew up into something big?
2020-09-01 21:30:50 +0000 UTCa linguist would be great to have a parafolk language that doesn't bother the ears. it would get annoying to hear the same english phrases all the time. simlish never gets annoying since we don't understand it anyway
allison hogarth
2020-09-01 17:41:19 +0000 UTCI like to use mods and CC when the reason why I use them is that they provide an extra feature that I don't expect the base game to have anyway (like historical clothing, futuristic furniture, and mods that provide very specific gameplay or gameplay that can't be in a PG-13 game like a violence mod). I don't like having to use them when the reason is that the base game is lacking (like mods that allow me to hold a bachelor's party, a honeymoon or a funeral, or CC that allows my characters to actually have diverse hairstyles). I'm hoping for Paralives to be satisfying and fun enough on its own that I only ever use CC and mods for very specific circumstances.
2020-09-01 11:46:46 +0000 UTCI love adding CC to my games, specifically cosmetics! I like to make my characters look as unique as possible. I would love to see mods/CC implemented in Paralives!
moongloss
2020-09-01 11:11:43 +0000 UTCI rarely used mods, I think for sims 3 I downloaded a ton of hair and clothes just because the game options were pretty stagnant and boring, and with sims 4 I download mods because the game play is pretty weak and glitchy. But I took them off because I didn’t like how the game ran with them
Jessica Martin
2020-09-01 10:16:10 +0000 UTCI use mods all the time and would love to be able to use them in game! Mostly for unique clothing and hairstyles!
2020-09-01 10:05:15 +0000 UTCYou're doing amazing! I love seeing your progress and hearing about the process! As a stretch goal I would like paras to impact the world, even if it's just when it comes to their job. So if a para writes a book, I would like the book to be available and the para to have people ask for their signature. If some work-oriented paras work in a company, I would like that company to show up in the news or in conversation, maybe their brand in products. Or if they are doctors, I would like other paras to be able to consult them about their health. Maybe have parents ask teachers about advice for their children. Or if an inventor creates something, have that thing be available (like a 3d printer). I don't think it needs to be anything grand, but those little details would make their world feel alive and their lifes, meaningful.

2020-09-01 09:35:23 +0000 UTCI don't know if I'm going to use mods in this game - if I will then it's because I want to include some things in the game that you guys are not allowed to include yourself ^^ Used mostly mods because Ts4 were lacking so much in gameplay and other things. Will most likely download a lot of CC if people start creating it :)

2020-09-01 06:07:14 +0000 UTCwoah woah i think this idea is super super cool!!!!!!!!! bc i have never seen a simulation game where u can simulate anything but the Present u feel me!! woah i want victorian sim life that sounds incREDIBLE

2020-09-01 03:32:45 +0000 UTC~ Most games I play without Mods or CC but that is because they do not need them, IE- the Game does not need them because the content is good or sufficient, the game "works" properly or like it should (it is not broken & therefore needs Mods to fix the problems!) I have played many games Vanilla but the Sims is one game that I have had to heaverly Mod, & with their latest Sims 4 is the hardest to keep modded as EA/Maxis does not want Mods in that game, but it is so broken, that it is the only way to play it (also they need to fire the team that picks the colours for their cloths, furniture ETC, as the colours are horrible & nothing matches!(story progression is sadly one thing that game needs & all life stages, as some are missing & one in particular, is just a two part object, (but even Patchie as a two part object does more than what a baby object does, which from the get-go should be a life stage!) They got this number 4 one so wrong, I would say if they had combined S2 & S3 they would have ended up with a better game, just my humble opinion!
2020-08-31 23:47:27 +0000 UTCI think being able to control the Para instead of point click would be so awesome🥺
2020-08-31 19:51:34 +0000 UTCI don't think it's as black-and-white as "I like mods and use them or I never use them". I use mods because I have to use mods but I personally don't like trawling through mods to fill in for things my game is missing i.e. To download a mod to tell my parents I'm moving out... I don't want to have to download mods
2020-08-31 16:51:23 +0000 UTCHello Team! I'd like to ask for a... Story mode? nothing really complex, but in a way you can choose if to live you have or change something about... the world? the life you have? Just the neighborhood? Or maybe some secret adventure? I think it would be fun to add something like that, but without making it the center of the gameplay.
2020-08-31 13:28:33 +0000 UTCI also like decades style items like a corded phone, a rotary phone, a phone box etc. Victorian/Medieval, 50's, 70's, 80's, 90's are especially decades that I enjoy decorating houses. In the opposite vein, futuristic tech is also super fun for modern builds: TV's with no background like a holographic kind of thing, floating cars, robots, etc. I don't mind these coming out later and the Sims totally proves that I'd be willing to pay for these extra features separately. LOL

2020-08-31 12:46:53 +0000 UTCI agree

2020-08-31 09:40:02 +0000 UTCOnce again, I’m glad that you all are doing well! 😌 I think that mods and custom content support is must have, especially for life simulation genre
Stermatical
2020-08-31 08:23:03 +0000 UTCI will say that I didn't start downloading mods until I noticed that there were many issues with Sims 4 that the Devs weren't fixing, but the Mod community fixed or enhanced enough that I could enjoy the game.
2020-08-31 04:39:39 +0000 UTCOne thing I would really love to see is Paras who aren’t able-bodied. Such as Paras who need a wheelchair, who are blind, etc. it’s more realistic and also gives different groups of people an opportunity for representation which hasn’t been present in Sims, at least.
Zeevryn
2020-08-31 04:18:54 +0000 UTCI only got into the world of mods & CC in the last 2 years or so because I was just about to quit playing the Sims 4 because I was so bored. WW & custom game play is what got me back into it - for a while at least. That said - now that I have discovered the world of CC & mods I really love it!
Morgan LF
2020-08-31 01:26:14 +0000 UTCI have a ton of mods for sims 4 but that's only cause the game is so severely lacking. I think in sims 3 I only had a sex mod and the more I think about it I'm not even sure if that's true. for paralives I'll add mods but only for stuff that ya'll couldn't get away with ratings-wise
Alexi
2020-08-31 00:12:05 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if you currently have a plan for what the paras will sound like, but figuring that out and recording their "voices" is a very tangible aspect of the game that could be added as a stretch goal at a specific price point. Apologies to the non-PC gamers like my husband, but I'd like to see that before working toward a console port.
2020-08-30 23:49:32 +0000 UTCHi Paralives Team, My suggestion would be to add another programmer (or two, if funds continue to increase) to the team, since it seems like the majority of the community is most excited for a complex and nuanced live mode. (I personally prefer building dream houses and then admiring them from every possible angle, lol. But it seems like your build mode tools are strong already.)
Sean McDorman
2020-08-30 22:24:20 +0000 UTCHi Alex and the team, I'm sure someone has mentioned this already but as someone who has been playing the sims for 20years I think mods /should/ be an extra something to add to the game for fun but not vital to the game itself (like WW or extremeviolence). Right now I play with so many mods because, frankly, there is very little gameplay. I really like the progress you are making and I'm hoping you allow modders to contribute to your game. Above all I hope that you learn the lesson that the Sims team is struggling with and keep the integrity of the game (in the future) so that mods are not what makes your game fun. All the best to you and your team. Bon chance and I look forward to playing Paralives when it is released. <3

2020-08-30 21:20:12 +0000 UTCI love the idea of mods and for sims 4 I have quite a bt of cc but I rarely use it and haven't gotten around to using any script mods haha. I would love to, but I just don't . bit of a purist haha

2020-08-30 17:15:35 +0000 UTCI would enjoy more living options. For example, renting a room in a house where you can't see/enter others bedrooms and you split bills with roommates. Or adding a campground where elders can retire and live in campers. Unique living situations like that.

2020-08-30 16:48:46 +0000 UTCAre you posting a new.video today?
2020-08-30 16:48:37 +0000 UTCFor me it's a big if, I don't have a gaming laptop for I rarely download cc or mods. If the game is good I don't feel the need to. But I have downloaded cc and mods for the sims because of the lack of skin tones
2020-08-30 16:15:11 +0000 UTCGreat work again guys! For stretch goals, i'd quite like to see public transport be added. Now, I don't mean things like airports as I feel that would be a bit too much (even though I know some people want that). But just things like a small bus stop and a small train station would help make the world feel so much more aive. Thanks again guys!

2020-08-30 15:24:53 +0000 UTCWhen do you plan to start working on live mode?

2020-08-30 14:02:02 +0000 UTCYeah we are making progress 🤗
Similicious
2020-08-30 12:44:06 +0000 UTCI like having the options, but don't like when games rely on mods or cc to fix holes or issues that many/most players have in their gameplay. It should feel like a bonus, not a band-aid. I also usually only like CC if it matches the aesthetics and designs of the game assets so it works visually with existing things.
2020-08-30 11:49:00 +0000 UTCI like the opportunity to download mods to "fine-tune" the game to how I like it, but I don't like when a game REQUIRES mods to feel functional. CC is a bit different, I love to download CC such as hairs, clothes and objects, even if I like what the game offers too. It's nice to get some "niche-content" in the game through CC.

2020-08-30 08:49:42 +0000 UTCThis would be a cool idea!

2020-08-30 05:28:45 +0000 UTCI always use CC to get super niche clothing and hair to really visually tell a story of what my character is like.
2020-08-30 04:58:21 +0000 UTCI would love to have disabilities in the main game, but understand that properly implementing them would mean a lot of research, planning, coding, animating, different ways of routing for wheelchairs, etc. Maybe that could be a stretch goal since it would likely take a lot of resources?
2020-08-30 04:13:10 +0000 UTCBrilliant. The team replied about it long time ago that grass growing is what they considered but the length consideration was needed before they made decision to do it or not.
2020-08-30 03:52:24 +0000 UTCWow, so thoughtful!!!!! Love it
2020-08-30 03:51:08 +0000 UTCThis is why I love Paralives community. Even we don't use or don't like something we are still open to others who love them. The real-life diversity and empathy.
2020-08-30 03:49:13 +0000 UTCI would also like tonnes of gameplay for pre-teens and teens - friendship drama, bullying, sports games, prom, graduation etc. are all important parts of life that would be cool to be able to play
2020-08-30 00:26:00 +0000 UTCI would love to be able to control my characters kids while at school, like how in some Sims careers you can control your sims day to day work activities. I think it would be so fun to be able to follow my teens to school and create drama or make them study extra hard. Really anything that adds immersion for the children and teens would be great, so they can have their own stories too instead of just something to take care of until they age up to an adult.
2020-08-30 00:05:48 +0000 UTCNot having mods or cc would be a dealbreaker for me- I like playing dress up too much
2020-08-29 23:16:36 +0000 UTCMany of my favourite games (even the-game-that-shall-not-be-named) can almost be thought as platforms with a default mod-set. It's not just "completeness," it's also customization. Some features can be seen crucial to some, disposable to others, and needing crazy details for someone else - see sexuality but also laundry, or in a different genre - life support in Kerbal Space Program. So for me, give me great mod support, and a built-in mod manager that can manage active mods per save and it will make me happier than almost _anything_ you could do to the base game.
Mod Zero
2020-08-29 22:54:45 +0000 UTCMy opinion is that if a game is hindering itself in a specific route, mods are the easiest way into fixing that for me. The only way I would want to use mods for Paralives is if I personally believe a feature is not added and it's making the game not enjoyable for me. For example, IF Paralives ended up not having a feature where background Paras can grow up and have lives on their own, I'd want to IMMEDIATELY get a mod that does just that.
NetherHeartz ~ ( Stephen )
2020-08-29 22:18:46 +0000 UTCI don’t use mods or CC but I’m not opposed to it. I think the option should be there for those who use them.
2020-08-29 20:13:40 +0000 UTCI download mods mainly because the game doesn't have what I want, or is lacking something in gameplay. I think both are good.
2020-08-29 18:58:57 +0000 UTCI'd love household chores and maintenance, and am hoping we could get like a schedule where the Paraparent(s) assign chores to household members. Nothing extreme, just laundry, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, etc. Once a week could be standard but super neat Paras would do it more often and maybe twice a week if there's a pet or young children. I don't want my Paras to have to spend all their time cleaning, but a little realism like that would be nice. Would also love it if objects could deteriorate over time and you'd have to replace them/buy new stuff (maybe sell the deteriorated stuff second hand) over time, even with maintenance/repairs.
Zedef
2020-08-29 18:56:10 +0000 UTCLike some people above have said, I only download mods and cc if I have to! I would prefer the game to be fun and thorough enough that I don't have to download much of anything unless there's something super duper specific I'm looking for. So I voted "rarely or never."
Lane Brettschneider
2020-08-29 18:39:40 +0000 UTCI remember when the Sims 3 came out, I would only download things like wearables, hair, and objects. I had no need for gameplay mods because the gameplay was fun on its own, I just wanted more CAS options. For the sims 4, I have mostly gameplay mods because it's so boring, which is not something I should have to do.

2020-08-29 18:01:15 +0000 UTCSmall pets like hamsters, gerbils, bunnies, turtles. Maybe the infamous pet brick from sims 3 😂

2020-08-29 17:58:54 +0000 UTCStretch goal: college pleaseeeee. Bars and drinking and sports games and sororities/frats and girls pouring themselves over athletes, and certain jobs requiring a college education. Sims university sucks please make it like a fun and realistic college experience! ❤️

2020-08-29 17:14:44 +0000 UTCI like to have so many mods that I can barely load my game, and play the "is it frozen?" game instead. But in all honesty, the only reason I bog down (the Sims 3) with mods is because there isn't as much customizability in that particular game. If you had the ability to fully customize objects (color, shape, size, height, etc.) then perhaps I wouldn't rely on mods so much. It already seems like the Team is doing everything they can to do exactly what I long for, which is amazing! But I do like to have real life objects in my game, which one couldn't possibly expect a game company to implement every single thing someone could want into the game, lol. Sooo for that I prefer mods --> Specific tack for my horse (in game, haha), specific appliances, etc.
LapeyLou
2020-08-29 16:55:21 +0000 UTCMods and custom content make games like the Sims 3 better, but if Paralives had all the essentials and I didn't feel like it needed anything I would not feel the need to add mods!
Fisher Simmons
2020-08-29 16:15:43 +0000 UTCI was thinking about marketing campaign as a stretch goal. While it won’t benefit the players directly it could give great results in a long term. I’m pretty sure there are a lot of players that would get interested in the game but just never heard of it.
Marcin
2020-08-29 15:55:46 +0000 UTCI only play Sims 3 and have been playing ever since it’s debut, and i cannot live without the story progression mods and seeing townies live their own lives and seeing my town change over time. I also use default skin replacements, environmental mods to beautify the game, and yes some adult mods. But i hope Paralives is easily modifiable for our future modding community
Michael Green
2020-08-29 15:17:41 +0000 UTCKinda was forced to download mods cause the sims is limited and has no content worth playing over an hour or two
2020-08-29 14:28:50 +0000 UTCHello Para-team ! Just received your mail ! It must have taken forever to write them all! And I appreciate that you wrote it in french :) I don't have ideas for what you could work on, I think you know best which features of your game need to be improved upon. And I personally like to use mods, mostly for skins and furniture... I hope it helped :)
Max
2020-08-29 13:05:41 +0000 UTCNice to hear the team is coming along well, and amazing that you're getting your own composer in for truly unique music in the game! I do install mods, but normally after a vanilla playthrough (unless there are some annoying bugs I want fixing right away), or in an open ended game after sufficient time playing that I need something different.
Hannah Hazlehurst
2020-08-29 12:55:41 +0000 UTCDepends on my mood lol. For example I often play Vanilla Minecraft when I’m lonely ( to play on servers) or modded Minecraft when I’m feeling creative, ( I have mods that help create details small things)

2020-08-29 12:45:16 +0000 UTCI think it would be nice if paralives collaborated with some cc creators and use some type of para-currency and free to those who are already a patreon with the cc creators <3 modding is a good way for the game to expand of topics that the game creators cannot expand on. I honestly love CC and Mods for my life Sumulator games.

2020-08-29 12:17:29 +0000 UTCI think it would be cool if there was some way to download furniture cc along with a house/lot, like have them packaged together. It would probably encourage me to get more furniture cc since I sometimes download houses in the sims.
Dizzardy
2020-08-29 11:51:14 +0000 UTCI can be pretty scary when it comes to mods, I love adding them to any game that will let me. I mostly focus on mods that alter gameplay or (in the sims anyway) CC for clothes, hair, skin tones etc I don't usually download furniture cc, I think on top of everything else it always just feels like too much to download. (and also I'm not much of a builder/decorator in the sims)
Dizzardy
2020-08-29 11:49:49 +0000 UTCYou can get a long way with gameplay customization and being able to create things in-game, but developers are never gonna be able to account for ALL play styles for a lifesim, so mods and CC is a MUST. I use a lot of gameplay mods and CC aswell, to fill out the game and have unique items for my favorite sims. Gameplay mods are mostly for building the worlds and the stories that I want - if there are better customization for the game, then I'd need less mods.
Nea Emrys
2020-08-29 11:36:22 +0000 UTCI almost exclusively play the Sims 3. So most of my mods involve skins, hair, and clothing (I couldn’t play without them honestly) I only use minor gameplay mods (like allowing my sims to smoke). These types of mods are needed IMO because it’s almost unreasonable to expect you to make thousands of clothing and looks options right upon release.
Haley
2020-08-29 11:34:58 +0000 UTCI love mods/cc, esp for sims. Mostly clothes or hairstyles, because yeah, the base games tend to be limiting, but also - I wonder how reasonable it is to assume one team can make dozens and dozens of different outfits, hairstyles, accessories, etc. Theres literally thousands of ways to dress.
Margaret Flynn
2020-08-29 09:41:52 +0000 UTCI agree with some of the comments; I have a lot of mods installed in the sims, but they're all gameplay add-ons to expand what the game could have done or to 'fix' parts of it that don't run as smoothly. I appreciate what the community makes but I'm hoping for a game where I feel like I could download mods if I wanted to but don't feel like I have to for a decent gaming experience. I think that some occult or supernatural paras would be cool, if it was optional. What I'm really hoping for is paras with substance and personalities of their own. I'd like to see what they get up to if I left them to their own devices. I don't remember if there is or not, but I'd them to have true-to-self autonomous functions, like hugging a parent goodbye or flirting with an acquaintance in the park (I want to option to actually play them as well, of course 😉).
Christine Harvey
2020-08-29 09:41:39 +0000 UTCAbout stretching goals: Just hire the people you need to make an awesome and detailed game! :) I would really focus on hiring as many people as possible, so everyone can work on different stuff simultaneously and the game could perhaps release earlier as planned! I don't think WE know, what kinda work is exactly needed for that :)

2020-08-29 08:58:01 +0000 UTCI was thinking, what about a story mode? One of my favorite things on The Sims 2 was how the premade families already had memories, and when you first played with them there were already some scripted things to set things in motion. I'd love to me able to create these stories/scripts and share with people on the workshop, or download other peoples stories. I think it would be a fun way to "kickstart" a playthrough.

2020-08-29 08:54:48 +0000 UTCFor the stretch goals it would be nice if the passing of time had more affects. You havent mowed the lawn in a long time =the grass grows longer and crazy, leave it long enough and bushes and tree saplings start growing in. Plant an apple tree= grows from small to large and yields the equivalent amount of apples. The trees grow in size and eventually if they are too old are a risk of falling down in a storm. Youve played in 1 household for about a generation= the house paint/wall paper starts chipping/changing color, leave it long enough and it might look like a haunted/abandonded house.

2020-08-29 08:38:13 +0000 UTCI love what you are doing with the game. As for the stretch goals, I wonder if you had thought about making the game localisation friendly so that you can have it translated with no to minimal issues. I know most people nowadays speak English or are able to understand it to some extent, but I'd guess not all of them would feel comfortable playing such a complex game in a language other than their mother tongue. However, translating the game into several languages might be something you wish to do once it is more established and not now, but that's why I'd suggest just making it localisation friendly, so that you have that option in the future.

2020-08-29 06:42:09 +0000 UTCI'm really glad to hear you guys are working on a strong foundation before moving on to the gameplay. As for mods and cc, as long as the game itself is good, I personally don't really feel the need for them. They're always a good thing to have available, but the game shouldn't have to rely on them to make it good. (I'm sure that's not something we have to worry about with Paralives though.) As for the stretch goals, I'd personally rather see the game (possibly) come out a bit sooner, since I feel like we'd be getting the "stretch goals" eventually in free updates anyway. The only thing I can really think of otherwise is to bring it to console at the same time as mac/pc, or at least not long after. (I personally only play on pc, but a broader audience is always good.)

2020-08-29 06:33:34 +0000 UTCI'd like to choose option C. I only downloaded custom content and mods because it seems to be almost required for a certain simulation game to be playable. <3 So excited about paralives!
2020-08-29 06:28:44 +0000 UTCBrilliant post! And congrats 👱🏼♀️🙏🏻❤️ it’s so nice to see the team achieve so much! Very proud of you all 🎊🥰

2020-08-29 05:43:57 +0000 UTCSimilar to other comments, I really only download mods that give me more control over the game or make a mechanic more accessible without doing a whole lot else. In the rare cases that I download "cosmetic" mods (clothes, hair, furniture, etc) it's because options begin to feel limited. These days I try to avoid mods unless they're the aforementioned behind-the-scenes stuff, though.
2020-08-29 05:29:41 +0000 UTCI would like a tree similar to the Sims. It would be nice if you had one and all degrees of kinship would be there without people disappearing from it at some point. And I had the idea to maybe design one for dogs, cats and horses. Because then you could possibly use it to breed special types of animals. = 3

2020-08-29 05:27:13 +0000 UTCYesss!!
2020-08-29 05:21:24 +0000 UTCI will probably use CC if it's on steam workshop because that makes it easier to put it in the game. But if not, I probably won't, unless something really bothers me or I feel that something is missing. As for a new feature, maybe we coud get create a world at launch!!
Mari R.
2020-08-29 04:23:44 +0000 UTCI mostly download mods like mccc and ui cheats that just facilitate cheating and enrich my experience by giving me more control without really adding many new features to the game. Based on the advanced settings that have been described in recent paralives posts, there may not even be much need for those sorts of mods :D
Aaron
2020-08-29 04:17:13 +0000 UTCI only download CC to add depth and gameplay, and control things like story progression, like for the sims 4, but I am perfectly happy playing without mods on the sims 3 as the gameplay is better. If the sims already had better features, I wouldn't feel the need to download mods
2020-08-29 04:01:16 +0000 UTCI love that modding is something that is without restriction by guidelines set in place for developers. I do think that modding should only add to a game that is entirely good at the base without it. I hate that EA leaves modders to fill the gaps... The skintones for example, the numerous bug fix mods there have been over time, the MC Command center toggle to turn off that horrible and annoying monster under the bed, etc.

2020-08-29 03:43:34 +0000 UTCI think for stretch goals being able to own businesses like shops, cafes, and restaurants would be super cool. I would love if like in an urban area it was possible to have an apartment on top of your business. I'd also really love if certain features like technology could be optional so time-period based gameplay could be possible. If course create a world is also something that would be great to see, but y'all have said that's planned for after release :)
2020-08-29 03:43:29 +0000 UTCThay is why Sims 3 Night Life has been and will be my most beloved of all.
2020-08-29 03:37:47 +0000 UTCTotally agree! Gameplay depth and functionability without the usual.'decorative only' limitations and rabbit holes.

2020-08-29 03:17:31 +0000 UTCIn terms of the Sims, I didn't really start downloading mods/CC until TS4.
Bethany
2020-08-29 02:57:06 +0000 UTCI like to download mods and CC after I have exhausted the latest game-play/features. Personally, I like to explore game vanilla style first and then look at what Mods can add. I'm hoping for a game that adds enough depth with new DLC that I don't look to mods immediately after release.

2020-08-29 02:56:10 +0000 UTCI haven’t seen anyone mention this before but a stretched goal could be working on the in game cinematic camera for machinima makers? I’ve never made any myself using the sims but I love watching others creations on YouTube. So if anyone here makes series, short films, etc using the sims. What are some in game camera features that you’d potentially want implemented if possible for paralives? Also thanks Dev team for all the hard work that you do, sending nothing but love and positive vibes your way! 💕

2020-08-29 02:48:11 +0000 UTCAnd can I say how grateful that I am that your first instinct was to redirect excess money right back into the game? It shows that you guys really care 🥺
Matt Jeffrey
2020-08-29 02:43:13 +0000 UTCI mean for stretch goals, either owning businesses and a decent number of things that go along with it, that or another city (which i could totally understand a loading screen for going between cities, just not between lots within a neighborhood). Maybe a beach town? An actual city (like San myshuno, but actually good)? I would love either of these
Matt Jeffrey
2020-08-29 02:42:25 +0000 UTCMost games I don't download mods, but certain games I download tons. This includes the Sims series of course, and even if I didn't feel the need to download mods to fix bugs or annoyances, the community just makes so many amazing additions when it comes to clothes, hair, furniture, etc. that I would still want to use those. As for stretch goals, I really like BekkiRoss' suggestions. If I had to pick only one to go in the base game though, it would probably be ownable businesses. Even if it starts out as just basic retail in the base game and gets fleshed out more later in updates or expansions, I think it just opens up so many options for Paras and chances for players to get creative.
Aster Lea
2020-08-29 02:18:57 +0000 UTCI would like whatever people and positions you choose in the future to add to the depth, variety, challenge and 'configerableness' of game play. Whether than requires more 3d artists or animators for the animation, or more programmers to program behind that or whatever. But I want a game with depth. I don't want to just tell my characters to do something and watch the usual generic animation of them doing that. I want HOW they do it and HOW WELL they do it relate to their personality, I want many options and paths for characters to accomplish things, I want detail (groceries for things my characters cook, places where my characters can put things and retrieve things (even in draws would be great!) so that if they comb their hair they have to retrieve a comb from their dresser, if they blow their nose they have to get a tissue/hanky from somewhere other than behind their back, handbags to contain stuff, inventories that are more realistic (nobody carries 1000s of fruit and stuff around on their person, if they wear particular clothes they actually have to have bought them and have them in their wardrobe. You get what I mean, I think. And stuff to do: I want my characters to visit real places, not rabbit holes, where they actually interact with the place and the objects on the place - if they go to the grocery store, they can interact with shelves to get products, if they go the park they can pick a flower, if they go to a piano lesson actually be taught learn, if they drop into a restaurant or coffee shop actually order and eat/drink, if they go to school/work/University they can interact and do stuff to achieve stuff. Places: I want my Paras to be able to live in a house or an apartment or in share accommodation with other Paras or on the street - I want a variety of living and life possibilities, and I want things to be difficult to achieve - not have them be able to move into luxuries after a couple weeks. Achievements: I want it to have some kind of challenge attached (depending upon personality and individual talents), not just read a book or work at a machine to *BOOM* get a skill - that's just click and leave - DO stuff to get the skill (choices/mini-game/skill gain dependent option varieties), for example skills are gained in varied ways, not uni-driven. EG, cooking - you might need to read some books (the right book) AND watch some TV (the right TV show) AND experience AND experiment, and the mix might depend upon personality and it might depend upon encouragement when the Para was young. Collectables: mushrooms might be found depending upon many variables: weather/season/temperature/recent rain/place/terrain/soil/length of time available/quality might also vary depending upon these things, they might be finite and vary in place and number each day, fish, flowers, insects, animals, plants the same. And relationships should build over time and be complex, not just a kind of +1/-1 thing that adds up to a number and a level. Realism: I want my Paras to be real, for example, wake up with messy hair! Nobody wakes up with perfect hair in the morning! Wake up WITHOUT makeup. Nobody wakes up already made-up! Game timing to be real - nobody takes an hour in the shower and half an hour to pee! Dishes to stack in the sink - nobody washes dishes individually (not not in western culture anyway). Clothes, furniture etc to wear out (scratches couches stay scratched, broken things require real skills. Accidents to happen occasionally - life isn't perfect by design. Stuff like that. I really don't know the balance of people/positions you need to accomplish this stuff, but whatever people Paralives need to make a complex game with play options, realism, variable characters, stuff to do and variations in which to do it. Game depth. That's what I want. :-)

2020-08-29 02:12:22 +0000 UTCWhat I would love to see, number one being what I want the most: 1. Create a world (I know it's planned for after release) 2. Being able to own a business like restaurants, cafés, shops etc 3. Apartments on top of buildings 4. Vacation homes like for example a cabin in the woods 5. Farming I love everything I've seen so far 🤩 I get so excited every time I read a new patreon post! 🤩 (Had very poor internet connection, so hope I didn't post twice)

2020-08-29 01:51:34 +0000 UTCNot only caring for outdoor plants, but houseplants as well!! 💚🌱
2020-08-29 01:49:32 +0000 UTCSo I have 2 very different answers to this poll. With most games I never use mods at all. With the Sims 4 in particular (a bit more pertinent to the style of play of Paralives) I download and use an outrageous amount of custom content. I'd rather not have to that so much, but sometimes a game lacking and the community is really talented. 🤷

2020-08-29 01:42:27 +0000 UTCBuilt-in custom job/career creation interface. I remember for the first sims my older brother bought a (thirdparty i think)expansion that let you create a custom career and its progression. It was very rudimentary but it was cool.
2020-08-29 01:35:42 +0000 UTCJust to add - the most important thing is to make the world feel ALIVE. Like, the other NPCs all have their own stories and lives, and aren't generic like in the sims 4. That's the most important aspect of a sandbox simulation game by far, in my opinion :)
2020-08-29 01:34:38 +0000 UTCI love everything urban - apartment living, graffiti, alleyways, chic decor, balconies, city skylines or closer tall buildings, trams, trains, shops lining the street, buskers, crowds, events, etc. (I know most of this will be unrealistic to create but just an overall city feel is what I'm trying to convey I'd loveee)
2020-08-29 01:33:09 +0000 UTC"First kiss" party? 😅
2020-08-29 01:28:17 +0000 UTCI hope we can rent houses to other sims or create apartments etc. It’d be really nice. Also possibly holiday homes in the future?
Caelem Swift
2020-08-29 01:26:19 +0000 UTCHmmm...I wonder if this number is so high because that other game actually RELIES on modders to complete their game for them and make it more playable...
Fran Smith
2020-08-29 01:25:56 +0000 UTCI like the option to have custom content, but I prefer games that I don't feel like I NEED it (I consider Sims 4 unplayable without it but not the Sims 3).
2020-08-29 00:48:46 +0000 UTCI would love for dlc/stretch goals that included a few more job options, and if you owned a house complex, or build an extra part to the house to be it's own little appartment, you could rent it out.
Vegard Myklebust
2020-08-29 00:41:56 +0000 UTCstretch goals: varied worlds like cities, rural farmland, desert, etc. Also having a ton of social gatherings and interactions. Besides. holiday related parties, I’m thinking anniversary, birthdays, weddings, graduations, bachelorette/bachelor parties, kick-backs, funerals, summer BBQ, etc. Activities that celebrate milestones in life like a job promotion, or first kiss.
2020-08-29 00:37:26 +0000 UTCI'm really hoping to have a lot of clothes for babies, toddlers, children and teens! They always tend to get neglected in games, but I enjoy playing family games and wish some more aesthetic love was given to these age groups! Like, let's have the teens be more distinct from the adults! And maybe as a stretch goal, there could be focus of gardening? Like, bee keeping and butterflies as well as different types of plants in your gardens that can attract different kind of insects! Like Swan Plants attracting monarch butterflies! I love gardens!

2020-08-29 00:27:48 +0000 UTCi would Love a switch port, as i have a non-gaming computer that can barely run most mac games. it would be super cool to have this game on the switch and use that as my main gaming device, however i understand that that’s a whole different set of controls to cover! tysm for your updates, it’s really cool to follow along!
2020-08-29 00:27:01 +0000 UTCThe only extra features I can think of would be a Nintendo Switch port, and detailed communities/actions and extensive generational content. EDIT: occults and supernatural paras would be super cool as well!!!
KittlynM
2020-08-28 23:55:29 +0000 UTCI have a lot of mods in Sims 4, but they are all add-ons. To Maxis created contented. Aka if there were more/better swatches or Sims 2 style swatches, I wouldn't have 95% of my CC.
Alexi Whittendale
2020-08-28 23:54:47 +0000 UTCBig stretch goal i'd love to see is farming, small pets (rodents, reptiles) and playable pets! 😍🥰 Also occults!!!!! Everything else looks perfect and I'm so excited ahhhh
2020-08-28 23:46:40 +0000 UTCFor stretch goals, maybe owning businesses :3
Gina Tonik
2020-08-28 23:44:20 +0000 UTCExcellent!
2020-08-28 23:42:51 +0000 UTCI think the Para version of Amazon should be called Yukon. 😂 It's one of the longest rivers in Canada and has a similar sound to Amazon.
Megan Santucci
2020-08-28 23:40:11 +0000 UTCFor stretch goal I would love two interrelated features: A. The ability for PCs to own businesses. Shops, restaurants, movie theaters, etc. Possibly including rental properties if that isn't too difficult to code? B. The ability to have multipurpose lots, such as by drawing different zones. You could have a shop with an apartment over it, an apartment building with several units, etc.
Megan Santucci
2020-08-28 23:38:26 +0000 UTCI mostly use CC with just a few of the major gameplay mods that are most popular among Simmers.
Courtney David
2020-08-28 23:33:48 +0000 UTCI rarely play any games without mods. However, I almost never use “CC” in sims games, because their look almost never fits the original game content. So only gameplay mods for these types of games.
Mette Askø Stark
2020-08-28 23:27:26 +0000 UTCIt's hard to think of what other features to add since the base game already is gonna have a lot. In a way, I'd rather the team simply spend extra resources making all of the existing confirmed features (pets, restaurants, the open world, the para maker, live mode/family play) as fleshed out and feature complete as possible. I think a big problem with the fourth iteration of the game that shall not be named is that when it comes to things you can do, it focuses on quantity over quality. We will have the ability to fly spaceships, for instance, but so many basic things that were in earlier games such as certain family based socials are left out. I want this to be the opposite: quality over quantity. A good way to do this is to spend time integrating decorative objects from build mode more into gameplay. Maggie's loft for instance has those rollerblades and that bike on the wall, but I'm betting it's just decor at this stage. How cool would it be if Maggie could *use* those bikes and skates and they would disappear when in use, sorta like how cars in the third iteration in the game that shall not be named worked. Or the bra hanging on the railing; it would be neat if that would only appear if Maggie is dressed down and only if she's a "sloppy" para or really low on energy or something. Or what about the boots in Sebastians home; it would be cool if shoes you buy from the store wind up in the inventory, then you place them down by the front door, and then whenever your para changes into in outfit using them they disappear. Basically, make it so resources go into making sure everything in the game has function, not just form, and integrate build mode items and live as much as possible so that I never say to myself: "I wish my parafolk could do this with that." And of course, don't skimp on social interactions. You can never have too many socials, especially with family play. If I had to name a discrete extra feature to include, I would say something like multitasking, especially with socials.
2020-08-28 23:25:59 +0000 UTCOh god, the CC hooker boots? Those are the worst! How'd you get rid of them? I've been trying to too
2020-08-28 23:24:52 +0000 UTCI love downloading wonderful creations by talented Modders, but rarely do now since Sims 3 and some corrupted custom content boots did horrible things to my sims baby which took forever to track down and remove to get my game back to normal. So, I'm very hopeful CC will not be such an issue with Paralives. Fingers crossed.

2020-08-28 23:09:35 +0000 UTCThis weekend im raising my pledge and i CANT WAIT. Sad i couldnt get the first post card but im not losing any more rewards! Cant wait for this game to come out, you guys deserve all tje success in the world
Raphael Rodrigues
2020-08-28 23:04:23 +0000 UTCThis is probably a far off goal but if you guys can make a celebrity system and acting and singing in the future. Vacation spots that would be nice. Apartments are a must, university. These are just what I would like in the long run. I know you guys are working hard and doing the best you can. I appreciate you keep working hard!
2020-08-28 23:00:46 +0000 UTCStretch goal thoughts: beginning to start the career/school play-along features / real money stuff like a bank, cards, loans, rent, mortgage, etc.

2020-08-28 22:54:36 +0000 UTCI usually use mods for bugfixes and cheats. In particular, bugfixes with Sims 4.
Tehkeela Suhnrayze
2020-08-28 22:53:10 +0000 UTCStretch goal thoughts: content creation tool. Not like a 3d asset builder or anything. But like, drop in a mesh, define its behaviour and name and meta data, etc. Eg, drop in a mesh for a kitchen counter and define its stretching/resizing behaviour or something

2020-08-28 22:47:40 +0000 UTCLike the base game doesn’t even have my hair type
2020-08-28 22:40:39 +0000 UTCEXCELLENT IDEA.
2020-08-28 22:40:09 +0000 UTCHonestly the only reason i use custom content and mods in that other game that shall not be named is cause i don’t have enough money for other packs & the base game stuff are just kinda not that satisfactory
2020-08-28 22:39:46 +0000 UTCBecause Sims 4 are not mods friendly that is why. They don't give tools for modders. Go to steam workshop and you will understand tge difference.
2020-08-28 22:37:32 +0000 UTCParalives bank franchise : PARABANK. Real atm and credit card in game : PARACARD.
2020-08-28 22:34:29 +0000 UTCI recommend you have ONLINE shopping in the game. How about PARAZON. Or PARABABA? Lol.
2020-08-28 22:32:59 +0000 UTCI will only use cc/mods if the game is boring currently what I’m doing now on a game but when that game had 2and 3 I never used mods/cc for it (i think everybody know what 2and 3 means didn’t wanna say any names)
Taylor S lee
2020-08-28 22:32:21 +0000 UTCSteam downloadable content is really good imo. Its so easy to download silly skins etc from the workshop, so if its as easy to add new hair/clothes/furniture like that then i can imagine it'd be very popular. Mods that change gameplay such as story progression are popular bc theyre lacking in the base game, so as long as the base game has deep/engaging gameplay then the workshop can be used as an extra clothes/hair/items, which would be very fun
2020-08-28 22:31:05 +0000 UTCI will not use CC or mods unless they blend seamlessly into the existing world design. The reason I never added CC to the Sims was because a lot of the content was just too hyper realistic in style to fit the rest of the world. It was just too much work. If I could find quality CC that matched the art style and design of Paralives, I might use it. If only some kind of CC creator could be implemented that allowed players to create items and new creations out of basic shapes and a large dump of game optimized textures? For instance, making a custom table involves selecting what kind of legs you want or if you want a square or round top? That could be an extra feature that goes beyond the simplicity of stretching an existing object in the game assets.
2020-08-28 22:29:32 +0000 UTCI would love to have GAME PLAY like you have fans' requests via twitter. Toddlers' cute fun interaction with people, playdates, kindergarten activities, children's jealousy when your moms get pregnant etc. CAREER obstacles. FINANCIAL SYSTEM such as debts, loans, business, realty etc. SHOPPING AT STORES, grocery, books, clothes, EVEN ONLINE!! (It will be fun to look for your PARAZON package to arrive! Lol. They all add depth, fun and challenge.
2020-08-28 22:28:06 +0000 UTCHere are my ideas for stretch goals: 1. Car animations - I know that you said you might not do as much as TS2 team did, but it could be nice stretch goal. So smooth driving and parking animations, as well animations of parafolks getting in cars. 2. Public transportation - for the first world, bus would be best option and probably the easier one. There isn't that much of difference from cars - buses are just bigger and would contain more folks. But I think that they might be possible for base game. 3. Movable houseboats, RVs, caravans, appartments 4. Inclusion of disabilities - or specifically, wheelchairs and blind folks. The whole city needs to be adjusted for them and there are gameplay things for them that would have to be added. But it is best to do it from beggining as it would be harder to add it later.
Wondrous_Mickey
2020-08-28 22:25:37 +0000 UTCTypically I only download things that correct bugs in the existing game (which I don't think will be a problem with you awesome guys)! It is, however, nearly mandatory for that other game I shall not name... :-)
Jennifer Huber
2020-08-28 22:25:07 +0000 UTCI would love if we are able to use CC and mods. I tend to use both to make the game more customized to me. It would be nice to be able to have modders create adult theme mods ( ie: Basemental and Wicked Whims) for us adults to want to have the game catered more to us. Good luck on your futures recruiting. Looking forward to the new updates.
Lavender
2020-08-28 22:25:04 +0000 UTCI voted that I do, but I mainly download mods to help things run smoother or that will improve on the foundation. I almost never download CC
2020-08-28 22:21:35 +0000 UTCI think a system to draw directly on Parafolk, for things like scars and tattoos and other specific skin details, would be perfect for a stretch goal
nemo
2020-08-28 22:17:58 +0000 UTCI always play with CC (all kind of things, clothes, skin, make up, eyes, furniture etc) and Mods in the other sims game. I can’t play without it anymore, otherwise it isn’t as enjoyable. But I hope I don’t need mods as much as I need it for the other game, since it’s only to fill the emptiness of the things which are missing in the game. Thank you for all your hard work, I appreciate it a lot and can’t wait to see more.
Tini
2020-08-28 22:17:47 +0000 UTCIt would be really awesome if the parafolk could do chores and house maintenance like laundry, sweeping, mopping, mowing the lawn, that builds up over time if it doesn’t get done or having to wipe up a mess if a child spills something. Would also be cool if you could accompany the Parafolk to an open little grocery store or market where they can take other family members and purchase items. Also being able to ride bikes, scooters, skateboards and teach others how to ride would be an amazing feature. I love the little real life details that make the game feel specials :)
2020-08-28 22:17:34 +0000 UTCI like having mods. It gives me the same therapeutic feeling shopping does without the later regret because I spend no money. I am very much looking forward to attempting to create my own mods.
Genesis Llanos
2020-08-28 22:16:48 +0000 UTCBut it depends on the game. I did not have a lot of mods in Sims 3. Sims 4 I have a lot of mods.
Kiddosdreams
2020-08-28 22:04:12 +0000 UTCNot really a "stretch goal" per se, but I was hoping that we could get a function in game for family portraits, both photos and paintings. Speaking particularly as a multi-generations player, it would make game play really special and meaningful. Otherwise, thanks for the update guys! Keep up the excellent work.

2020-08-28 22:00:31 +0000 UTCI never mod my games and rarely add custom content. I don't like how some game developers get lazy and stop making content for their game because the community is doing it for them. I don't like how mods sometimes break a game. The CC I do like is usually built into the game such as using CAS to make some great sims and share them with others, or build some great lots and share, or download other people's creations. All that can be done 'within' the game' though, so it's not really classed as modding. I hope paralives provides us with a way to be super creative and share our stuff without having to download third-party files. but for those who do like modding, I hope they also get the option in the game. basically it'd be a perfect life simulator if players had full creative freedom!
2020-08-28 21:56:24 +0000 UTCI only download custom content to make up for the pitfalls of a game-- and I do it once I've played the game for quite some time and feel the need to enhance. Based on what I'm seeing as far as customization options in Paralives I doubt I would need the ability to install mods or custom content in the game right away. Although I do really appreciate the creativity of other players!
2020-08-28 21:55:02 +0000 UTCPersonally I do not want to see mental illness represented. My mother is schizophrenic, my aunt has bipolar disorder, my stepmom had severe ptsd/ anxiety disorder & committed suicide. I want to play a life simulation where I can build my dream life. I don't want it to be so realistic that it's dark & reminds me of the women in my life. I have been around mental illness my whole life & had my own experiences with it. I think the reason no one has modded it and game developers don't include them is because no one genuinely desires a mental illness & many play games to cope or feel happy. With all the being said, I get where you're coming from & it is realistic, but as a game developer it's TON of work already to implement a normal personality system and emotions let alone a full on mental illness system. I'd rather see reactions or moods triggered by life events like a breakup or death but I don't want the whole shebang of depression, psychosis, etc.
2020-08-28 21:50:26 +0000 UTCCompletely agree!!
2020-08-28 21:49:40 +0000 UTCI will say regarding mods and custom content, while I am excited to be able to download and play with other players creations...I wouldn't know where to begin in creating custom content, I am hoping that Paralives delivers in the story progression and depth of personalities, interactions, and life stages so that I won't have to worry about mods. That is the only reason why I download mods now, and I still have a hard time staying interested and wanting to play other games.

2020-08-28 21:47:36 +0000 UTCyes exacrly same here!!!

2020-08-28 21:45:54 +0000 UTCI don't really download a lot of mods/CC, but what I do download is more for cosmetic reasons/small tweaks/etc. Most of my CC is for The Sims and it's for items I wish I had in-game, or items that I wished I could edit the colour/pattern of, etc.
2020-08-28 21:45:39 +0000 UTCI hope for the streched goal a another animator can asist alice ! ANd good luck on finding a new 3d artist !! you can do it !!
sofst
2020-08-28 21:44:25 +0000 UTCI myself don't like using mods and cc unless I really have to. About stretching goals maybe additional animator so we get more interactions and detailed animations?
Domon0310
2020-08-28 21:42:35 +0000 UTCI would like an easy/straight forward way of adding custom content that either I create or others with more talent think up.
2020-08-28 21:40:44 +0000 UTCLove you guys! Thank you so much for keeping us informed 🥰
Camilo Quintero
2020-08-28 21:40:22 +0000 UTCI tend to worry about viruses with mods/custom content, so I mostly just download the ones that are needed to keep the game running smoothly, or if it's a feature I really need to accurately portray a character. I've had fun with them in the past, though; I've just become more anxious over the years, so I don't like to risk my computer for, say, a new hairstyle anymore, ha ha! I don't know if there's a safer way to handle mod sites/files, to make sure there's nothing malicious there. I do think custom content is fun when it's safe.
Vanessa H
2020-08-28 21:39:31 +0000 UTCTo disagree with some of these comments: I don't _only_ download custom content or mods when I feel like the game is lacking something - often the game is great by itself and the mods I download are just small tweaks and tools that I personally find useful, more to "mold" the game to match my playstyle. For example Rimworld: It's amazing by itself but I like to micromanage - so I downloaded mods to help me micromanage the jobs that the characters do (and much more stuff). That absolutely doesn't mean the game is lacking in that aspect, it's well balanced - it's just my personal preference and might not suit everyone, which is exactly what mods are for. Mods are not able to fix a bad game but they can make a great game even greater :)
2020-08-28 21:39:19 +0000 UTCi usually download mods and cc for cosmetic reasons
nelson
2020-08-28 21:36:00 +0000 UTCI agree with a lot of people who have said that they would prefer not to *have* to download cc and mods.
Karen
2020-08-28 21:33:52 +0000 UTCIf I am being honest... yes, I do mod and cc a LOT (a few GB each game), so I really love for developers to make that as easy as possible to impliment that... BUT! Modding or cheating is always because somethign is... missing. "Oh yeah, Sims is nice, but I don't like the graphics" ... boom, Alpha CC and stuff and I just adore that kind of Sims. "Oh, I want to make a real good hospital, but there isn't so much in the game..." - boom, getting some building cc. "Oh yeah, groups are nice, but not exactly what I had in mind..." - and boom, I modded that one myself (somehow). As far as I see with you guys... you practically suck up all the wishes of the people and implement them. I know you will never be able to get all the wishes in the game, but... with you guys I have the feeling, I will need a much, much less big of a mod folder ;) *sends lots of hugs and cookies*
MadhattersTwin
2020-08-28 21:33:45 +0000 UTCTo note: I download mods when I feel that the game is lacking representation or specific situations. I'd much rather not have to!
mythicpatron
2020-08-28 21:31:57 +0000 UTCI like to download mods and custom content but I do not want to ever feel like I have to download items... n I only do this is the mods and cc can be ported in for free. I wanna try the item out before I dont or commit to a creator. Games that We Wont mention... lack so much that without the modding community the game woukd be so boring after a while n not interest me. That situation is boring to me. But a situation where I am just dLing custom content from modders just because I want it in the game is fun. I am fine with waiting 30 days for a mod or cc item to become public, trying it out, then going back n reciprocating the modder for their work because i love what i dL'd.

2020-08-28 21:27:49 +0000 UTCalso. I don’t love downloading mods or custom content, bc I find my game doesn’t run the way I like it, but I often have to bc gameplay in the sims is so boring
Maya Appavoo
2020-08-28 21:27:30 +0000 UTCSame I never play with mods but I don’t mind if the option is there for those who want a little extra customization but I hope the game itself is complete
2020-08-28 21:26:47 +0000 UTCI'm with a few others on this, I only download mods and cc when I feel the game is lacking so I can't really answer the poll.
2020-08-28 21:26:35 +0000 UTCI would like to add to my pole answer: I've only used mods when I play Sims 3 or 4. The mods for Sims 3 are for removing bugs, and the mods in Sims 4 is for making actual compelling gameplay, so if you guys make a great game I probably won't be downloading too many mods 😁

2020-08-28 21:26:32 +0000 UTCon the topic of stretch goals, there’s a lot of small details that I think are ambitious but very worthwhile. things like mental illnesses and exploring depression, anxiety, adhd, schizophrenia, maladaptive daydreaming, dissociation, DID, have tons of potential for gameplay (such as a para having a hard time getting out of bed, panic attacks, seeing your para’s hallucinations or daydreams play out, and having different personality traits for alters). I know this likely fits into the disability survey we’re about to get, but I think this is worthwhile. it’s complicated. there’s medication, genetics, side effects, therapy, and implications for your social life, academics, and occupation. symptoms of trauma would also be lovely to see. flashbacks after the loss of a loved one, panic attacks after a breakup, long-lasting implications of life events that fade over time but don’t go away. it would take tons of research and fine tuning, but I haven’t seen it even in mods
Maya Appavoo
2020-08-28 21:26:23 +0000 UTCi download mods/cc in my games but only if i feel as if they’re lacking, so i don’t actually download them because i like to do it. so i’m not sure how to answer the poll
2020-08-28 21:23:20 +0000 UTCI know you have said in the past that you have no plans for apartments at this time but maybe if you meet your stretch goals its something you could take another stab at after launch? Obviously not a make or break thing. But I am also very excited to see what you all have to show in the coming weeks!
2020-08-28 21:22:23 +0000 UTCI dowloaded mods for The Sims because it lacks so much in it. But, I really think that for this game, I would download maybe only 10% of what I used too.
Joanie Boissonneault
2020-08-28 21:20:56 +0000 UTCFor a stretch goal i'd really love to have a feature for communal living like a boarding school, prison, monastery, apartments, etc... where you can only really control some paras and the rest are on an automatic schedule of sorts. For example in a prison you can set that the prisoner-paras have to be in their cells from 20:00-09:00 what they do in their cells is up to them.
2020-08-28 21:20:27 +0000 UTCI'm really looking forward to seeing all the progress! Especially the 3D models! I love art and visual design, so I get super excited about it!
Stacey Dunnachie
2020-08-28 21:18:24 +0000 UTCThat poll is a bit tricky. I do download a lot of mods and custom content, but I'd rather not if the game was already complete enough. Cc and mods tend to make the game glitchy and slow on older computers... I don’t mind not being able to add cc/mods if the game is already good on its own :)
mar
2020-08-28 21:16:47 +0000 UTCI'm so stoked for this! Might make a bigger pledge! I like downloading mods and cc, to an extent. But I mostly download them for things I feel like are missing in the game
2020-08-28 21:16:25 +0000 UTCI rarely download mods but its only cus some of them can be glitchy and its hard to tell which one is causing the glitch, cc on steam tends to be easier

2020-08-28 21:13:37 +0000 UTCThank you for being so inclusive.
2020-08-28 21:13:07 +0000 UTCIt's nice when a game allows for modding. I like mods, it can kind of make your game tailor made specifically for you. It's also great when a game makes you feel like there isn't much of a need for them.
Lonerette
2020-08-28 21:10:40 +0000 UTCForgot to mention I so so so support integrating disabilities into the game! I'm disabled and I would love to play with Parafolk who have similar conditions as me. I do think it'll be a little tough given how diverse disability is, but with the inclusion of opinions from disabled folks I have no doubt y'all will pull it off.
2020-08-28 21:10:37 +0000 UTCI think a console port for a stretch goal would be awesome, that way, it opens up to more people being able to play who may not have access to a PC.
2020-08-28 21:10:28 +0000 UTCThank your for the update!❤ Mods are really important for me, i like to have a bunch of them. And for the stretch goal I personally would be more interested into any kind of a new feature. Maybe university?:)
2020-08-28 21:10:08 +0000 UTCI love to mod my games. My only gripe is not giving modders access to the updates prior to release so they can have mods updated when the game is officially updated. It's not a big deal when updates are 6 months apart, but every month can become tiresome.

2020-08-28 21:09:46 +0000 UTCwow i remember you being at 400 a month! happy to be able to help even if it’s such a little bit :)

2020-08-28 21:09:37 +0000 UTCFor a stretch goal, I'd like to see occult/supernatural paras. I LOVE them so much <3

2020-08-28 21:09:04 +0000 UTCSince you already adults you should do teens next☺️
2020-08-28 21:08:52 +0000 UTCRegarding stretch goals, I like the suggestion about making a console port. I've seen people specifically say that they would be more interested in Paralives if it was available for console, so there's at least a small market for it.

2020-08-28 21:08:14 +0000 UTCFor stretch goals, look into the guy making something called the Sims 4 Hair Studio (https://www.patreon.com/TS4hairStudio/posts) I'd love something like that for Paralives

2020-08-28 21:07:51 +0000 UTCI have always downloaded and played with mods and cc to either help or enhance something Im wanting to play out in a game, and especially when it came to sims. I like the stretch goals idea! I think adding in goals for new features would be nice and leave everyone excited for what could come next to the game 😊 i think some good stretch goal ideas could be: new stores or activities that would include new game play, playable/new careers, new worlds,

2020-08-28 21:07:11 +0000 UTCI would love good gardening and farming and/or the ability to own/run your own business. The only upside from university expansions in the Sims for me were the YA lifestage and the degree for further job opportunities, I actually really disliked them moving to a different world (campus) and having to leave my household to get them through Uni. For TS3 I downloaded the CC rabbithole rugs for uni to have a university rabbithole complex in my world. Anyway, long explanation but wanted to illustrate how a light version of university could be integrated in the base game, with possible further expansion (off-world campus etc) for later updates.

2020-08-28 21:06:23 +0000 UTCI like the idea of custom content, mods etc but I don’t download as I’m afraid it will break my game so I rarely do it. Will the game have some premade paras and lots to include in your neighbourhood? I like the concept in the sims 4 of downloading others lots etc. but I wish it still had the sims 2 premade lots/sims to start you off (and then change!).

2020-08-28 21:04:55 +0000 UTCAs a stretch goal I'd like to see functional gas stations and road trips to be a thing. Also different style of roads than the main road like country road, highways or wild, dirt paths (for example between fields or a muddy path in a forest), as well as motels. Basically everything you need for a road trip. Also the ability to sleep in cars while one is driving and a feature that allows us to see the inside from the car, basically like a first person view, to see the paras chilling, conversating or sleeping in the car and to look outside and enjoy the nature. At the gas stations you could be able to not just refill your car with gas, but to buy drinks for the road like coffee or snacks.

2020-08-28 21:03:43 +0000 UTCI rarely download stuff because I’m concerned might have a virus, damage the game saves, etc etc. However, when there is official custom content available (such as when EA had a store for Sims 3), I am totally willing to download that. I just don’t trust unofficial stuff. As far as other stuff, yes! All the animals! (Okay, not all...like tigers and things that people shouldn’t have)

2020-08-28 21:01:03 +0000 UTCIf not already planned, inclusion of disabilities. This is consistently not represented in life simulation games despite supposed efforts or promises for everyone to be able to create or emulate themselves.

2020-08-28 20:59:53 +0000 UTCI'm usually don't want to put in the work for cc or mods. I need to for the sims 4 to enjoy the game. But all other games, I don't.
2020-08-28 20:59:25 +0000 UTCI’m glad that things are going well! ❤️

2020-08-28 20:59:23 +0000 UTCI don't know if it's possible or if you guys have discussed it, but I would love to have University/College. That might be something for a future expansion, but just thought I'd throw it out there!
2020-08-28 20:58:02 +0000 UTCpiggybacking off of lenny and danny, i've always wanted chickens in a life simulation game 🥺
2020-08-28 20:57:44 +0000 UTCI download cc and mods when I need them for a good game experience. City Skylines I need different road types not included in the base game or expansion packs, for example. For Sims 4 there isn’t great clothing and I want previous features Sims 2 or 3 had so I download mods to get that game experience.
2020-08-28 20:56:42 +0000 UTCI like mods and CC, but don't bother with them if I have to worry about fixing broken ones at every update.

2020-08-28 20:56:39 +0000 UTCThis might be a stretch even for stretch goals but I would love for there to be a mode where you can play medieval style with a royalty/caste system. Like assigning a royal caste, merchant cast, peasant caste. Being able to designate a King, etc. It would be neat if this was a mode you could select before beginning in a town.

2020-08-28 20:56:16 +0000 UTCMy heart is so warm! Thank you guys so much for your hard work!(:

2020-08-28 20:56:03 +0000 UTCYes, that could be a cool stretch goal!

2020-08-28 20:55:24 +0000 UTChonestly, the stretch goals should simply be to solidify or improve the already planned features since one great feature is better than ten shitty one

2020-08-28 20:55:22 +0000 UTCGonna go with the same stretch goal idea as Lenny, small/other pets such as rabbits, chicken, snakes, lizards, birds, etc
Danny
2020-08-28 20:55:17 +0000 UTCThank you! Maybe it could!

2020-08-28 20:55:07 +0000 UTCyesss guys! congrats on meeting your last stretch goals! excited to see what is to come 🥰

2020-08-28 20:54:35 +0000 UTCAbout CC, I am forced to use them with TS 2-4, but if you are able (and I think you do) to provide us some good quality content, I think we (or at least I) won't need that much CC after all
2020-08-28 20:54:29 +0000 UTCI never used mods or cc for any of my Sims games until Sims 4 - that games needs help.
2020-08-28 20:54:20 +0000 UTCI love downloading custom content and mods, I will download anything and everything but it’s a pain to update

2020-08-28 20:54:05 +0000 UTCI don’t know if it’s possible it’s just an idea but could u add more pets like rabbits chickens etc

2020-08-28 20:54:00 +0000 UTCI’m loving everything I’m seeing, you guys are killing it! Could one of the stretch goals be recruitment for beta testers?

2020-08-28 20:53:26 +0000 UTCIt’s awesome being updated on everything. I know with all the drama people were starting to question your work, but I think this is the best subtle way of letting us know you’re still working hard at it! Thanks so much!
2020-08-28 20:53:25 +0000 UTCI'm so excited you're going to be doing a disability survey! I was just thinking about this the other night, and how important disability representation is. Thank you for being on top of this!!
2020-08-28 20:53:25 +0000 UTCThank you to all of you ❤️ I only use mods if I really think there necessary ❤️
Lenny
2020-08-28 20:53:16 +0000 UTClove seeing how this game is progressing!
2020-08-28 20:52:51 +0000 UTCMy heart is so happy that you guys are putting so much effort into the lgbt survey results:)
