Pets in Paralives

Hello!

It's friday and we would like to know what you think about some stuff!

As you know, there will be pets in Paralives: dogs, cats and horses. We are wondering if you would like them to be controllable or if you would prefer them to be 100% autonomous. Controllable means you can assign actions to your pet: eat, play, run around, etc. Autonomous means the pets would do all these things on their own so you don't have to manage them yourselves (but you could still look at their stats and needs). Of course we could allow both and let each player play the way they prefer. But we'd like to know what you think would be your preferred way of playing!

On a similar topic, how would you feel about the ability to have roommates that you do not control in your house? It could be interesting for players who like having large households but don't like to micromanage them all the time. What do you think?

Thanks for your input and have a great weekend!

I love that roomate idea!!! Even if I had a big family I would love if some of the children could be autonomous so I could focus on one child stories or play from that child's perspective.

Willow Grewal

I would 1000000% love both because if you'd rather have autonomous pets then so be it, but it would be nice to be able to control your pets without having to get a mod would be awesome.

The roommates which you would not control seems like a great idea! As for the pets.. you mentioned being able to do both? I think that would be cool. Like, you could choose in-game if you want them to be autonomous or not :)

Anna Wendel

It'd be great for them to be both! They're autonomous unless you start controlling them!

That's a really hard question imo. I really like both ways, and if given the option I'd probably switch back and forth. It's fun to play as your pet, especially if you give them little interactions with the Parafolks! Like as the cat you could click on your Para and rub on their legs 🥺🥺 or jump on their lap on the couch, etc. But it'd also be suuuuper cute if you're playing as your Para sitting on the couch and your cat CHOOSES to jump up on your lap, omg

Scrungler, The

As a massive animal lover I would love to be able to control them. It'd be a bummer for me if I couldn't. Either way I'll play until my eyes fall out of my head but it would be nice to see!

I could prefer the option to control my pet and I like the idea of roomies with a mind of their own

Dominique Kurtz

Yes!!

Yes!! like you could have the option to control them or “add to family” as in sims 4 but to have roomies be autonomous would be cool so you could focus on youre own needs and family etc

Both

Sometimes I wish my cat was a controllable character in my home, so I could choose for her to stop scratching the furniture or to act more friendly toward strangers. At the end of the day though, she's her own little person and it's up to me to adjust to her personality. I think that's such a special part of owning pets, you're coexisting with this life form and caring for it and loving for all its flaws and challenges. So I think parapets at least having the option to be autonomous is important. Same goes for roommates, I personally hate micromanaging multiple characters at once and prefer to focus on only one (at least until it's old enough to have kids, then I usually switch main focus to one of those :P).

PinkLyon

having autonomous pets is nice, somehow gives them more personality, like they are their own creatures that you interact with trough your paras

Same thought, yesss please!

It would be cool if players could toggle it on or off

Brandie Haynes

I really thought I’d be in the minority but I’m not ❤️

Lenny

Control with some degree of autonomy.

How about having an option in settings, to either have autonomous or controlled pets.

Lisa Graasten

I am perfectly fine with the fact that I couldn't be able to control my pets, as long as I can see their needs :) And I would REALLY love to have autonomous roomies <3

I would LOVE to control the pets. That would be so helpful gameplay wise. I HATED not being able to control them in Sims 2 and it drives me NUTS in Sims 4. Being able to control them is super helpful for perspective, stories, general playing, or fixing them when they get stuck and you can't do anything with them. It's very nice to have the option to interact with them and other things in the environment that way especially when glitches and other technical difficulties happen.

I mean ideally you could choose to control pets because it would just be an option, nobody would force you to control pets. And just being able to opens up a whole different area for potential mods.

Pete Laws

For pets, I think an option for both would be nice! For roommates, I think it'd be cool to have autonomous roommates!

I would like a option to switch between control mode and them doing their own thing. I would also love to have roommates you can’t control

Just to see their basic needs is fine!(: other than that, I’m good with not having control.

Sarah

I’d like to be able to at least see their basic needs, full control isn’t necessary if we have that

Danny

I agree a toggle perhaps but I prefer control and simplified needs

Samantha Johnson

I would prefer the option of both or choose their actions. I prefer sims 3 style of pets.

I would also like the option to choose whether or not I would want to control my pets or not.

I would like both and the ability to choose! That they can take care of themselfes autonomouslly, but that you also can controll them if you want them to do something specific.

Smiley

I lovethe idea of having independet roommates. It bothers me that I have a new character to play as soon as they live with mine. I would use it most of the times actually (not only roommates but the partner(s) too)

I concur with being able to choose! Most of the time I would rather have them be autonomous but in certain situations it would be nice to control them

I definitely agree with the option to control or not control pets or others so the game can be played in different ways. I still hope we would be required to care for the pets like feed them, play, bathe, groom, dress up, buy toys and accessories,... and establish rerelationships with them and others in the world. Maybe a pet store to get all the food, beds, accessories and toys? Or just one large super store where we can go to sections - food, home goods, pet supplies, clothing, jewelry, gifts.... etc? Hope this means we will have jobs to make money... so excited!

Ideally, it would be nice to be able to turn on/off autonomy for pets. And roommates would be nice!

Maybe the settings could be chosen before you start a game, so that you can’t change them once you’re in gameplay?

Having an option would be great as I know that I was disappointed when I paid $40 for the cats and dogs pack for the sims 4 and couldn't control them. I was used to controlling them in the Sims 3 so I thought that it'd carry over. Of course controlling them can also be a hassle, so toggling it would be the best option I think.

I would personally prefer to control pets but a menu option to disable and enable control would be the dream option. 🤞

Roommates please! Such a good idea!

Runner Bunny

Autonomous for sure but I'd like to be able to train my pet to "control" then in certain cases like bath time, feed time, catch & bring, sit, wait, etc. Basically what my dog can do in real life :) Also maybe we can choose their taits? Goofball, Playful, Lazy, Loner, etc.

An option for either would be nice, if only as a little aside to playing a para - simply just take control of the cat, and take an in-game day to go on animal-specific adventures.

Roe B.

I prefer autonomous pets, but the option to control them would be cool too! I also LOVE the idea of autonomous roommates. That would be so dope!

I prefer autonomus pets, even though the option to turn on/off if you control them or not would be cool. On the other topic: I love to play with big families because it feels livlier to me to play and not bland. But my biggest issue is that I suck at micro managing all of them, so I forget to enjoy playing and instead get overwhelmed. So from me it's a big YES for roommates.

Bea

I prefer autonomous pets, but I'd be okay with controlling being an option, but in order to for autonomous pets to be a real option it needs to be something you can turn on/off in the settings. I just wanted to say that because sometimes people think that it's an "option" to just choose never to control them if even if you can, but that actually puts the burden on the player to personally restrict themselves and to ignore a part of the game that could make things easier just with willpower alone, and it can actually make the game more stressful. If you can actually turn it off then the temptation is no longer being constantly presented to you if things start to get challenging.

Aster Lea

I personally prefer controllable pets! I like to make them do stupid stuff and I like to know what exactly they are doing. being able to switch autonomy off and on would probably be ideal here, though because sometimes having to deal with everything the pet does can get too much

I like autonomous pets (but the OPTION to control it would be nice). I think giving pets more personality would be critical, though.

i personally prefer controllable pets ! that was one of my favorite features of the sims 3 pets expansion, and i was really disappointed that they replaced it with total autonomy in sims 4. and npc roommates sounds great !!

I prefer autonomous pets mostly because I just want to play my character. The autonomous behavior of animals (and NPC's) is very entertaining to me! I love not being able to predict exactly how a character will act or respond when interacting with them. Micromanaging large families is very annoying to me in the Sims 4, so I only play with small households (4 sims or less). However, having the option to switch autonomy on or off would really benefit gameplay for everyone.

I personally prefer a combination of both. I like them to be mostly autonomous, but having no control makes pets get boring for me VERY quickly. It also eliminates my ability to create stories since I can make them cause chaos or comfort their owner at my command.

Jessica Fauss

I would prefer a combination of both, but more autonomous than not. I would like to jump in and take control for a few minutes and then return to paraliver after I have created the chaos I wanted to.

I prefer to control pets. I believe it will be a great feature into the game.

If it could be optional would be cool, but if not then I'd say autonomous

Vic

I prefer to control mine, but really think it should be optional to do it both ways

Gina Ayars-Ritchey

I prefer autonomous pets because it's way more fun to play with pets through my character. To experience my pet through animations and interactions with my character.

Totally agree, NPC roommates would be the best decision!

I love having NPC Roommates! Yes please! :)

NPC Roommates would be AMAZING!! I love the idea that you share a living space with someone you don’t control.

I would prefer an optional system.

I really hope we get both because I like playing with my pets but I can understand why others just want autonomous

I am a bit 60/40 on this one. I prefer autonomy of pets, but not full autonomy. Sometimes I want the pet to just do what I tell it to and stop running around all crazy. I wish I could train it to have a bit of a routine, fairly quickly.

Bengt Bagels

YES NPC ROOMMATES THE STORYLINES COULD GET WAAAAAY MORE INTERESTING!!!

Simone Patterson

I prefer having control of my pets! I got bored of the forced full autonomy of the pets in Sims 4 pretty quick and ended up downloading a mod to change it. Once the mod became out of date and unusable, I kinda stopped using pets 🤷🏻‍♀️

QueenCurlyQ

I would love it if both were an option, but if its down to one I prefer autonomous pets, .

I wanna be a cat so I want to control my pets :c

Definitely autonomous for roommates. This adds up so much to the game play. For pets having both options might be great. Some people like to play as pets ..(I wonder what my life would be as a cat 🤔😊)

Similicious

Non-controllable pets and roomies sounds awesome because it might create more dynamic and surprising actions.

Trisha Feder

Yes to NPC roommates!! I like to have the option for them because I sometimes use them for rent help, a future spouse, entertainment while my main character is working, or all of the above. Also thinking with the mention of pets that it would be fun to post an ad for a roommate and have the random possibility that they show up with a dog or cat in tow.

100% yes for Non controllable roomies! :D

Minimouette

Definitely love the idea of non controllable roomies! (Especially if they pay me rent;) )

Julia Samantha

Non-controllable roommates in the game would be awesome! Such a neat idea.

non-micro-managed roomies has my vote.

Ruby Daniels

I definitely like the idea of roommates I don't have to control.

Molly Smith

Autonomous pets would be brilliant as then they can take care of themselves BUT with the fun of watching them and seeing what they get up to. Seeing as it’s open world it would be brilliant to click back on your pet and then seeing that they are are far away doing fun or naughty things in the world. Also love the idea of still seeing their stats like in sims 2. You could see how and what they are doing at the same time. Also on the subject of roommates Alex, I love it! If you could potentially have roommates in it, managing your para’s would be main focus and then spying or observing your roommates would also be fun to see what their getting up to, or even noticing that one of them is getting up to some weird or cool business in the town or in shops etc 🤣🥰 the possibility of this is amazing! And I’d love it <3

Becky

I would like autonomous pets but I can make them controllable if I see fit. I also love the idea of roommates and think that would be insanely fun and so annoying--just like real life ;-)

allison hogarth

I think having roommates is so cool. Paying bills together or buy something and pay half half also, it would add some interesting actions for young parafolks. Maybe after high school a parafolk can move with his best friend he met nextdoor or an old parafolk can rent her basement to a young parafolk.

Please please PLEASE make it togglable!!! I hate autonomous pets

Lotus Jayne

I absolutely agree.

To be honest, I am fine either way as long as there are considerable amount of interactions between the paras and the pets.

Maybe autonomy could be togglable in game?

Lucy McClean

Would love roommates you can't control!

Aaryn Lang

It would also be cool if the pets had wants as well :)

i dont need to actually control pets. as long as i can see their needs so i can better care for the, im great!

So long as the pets will actually eat their food, I'll be happy 😂

And also to switch between them.

I would LOVE a system to have parafolk in my household that I don't have to control!

I would love to have both! To have them take care of themselves and have fun but i would like to be able to care for their needs myself if I would like :)

Should be optional. Pets are dumb in the sims 4 . In apartments , when I ask dogs to go , I get a “can’t go there” type of thought bubble and my sim is forced to manually take them to the bathroom.

If you don't want to control your pets don't click on them 🤷🏽‍♀️I think its super annoying to ask my pet to eat or go outside. So much easier to just control them and it's a more immersive experience.

Trinity Smith

Options are always great in this type of game!

Alex Massé

I personally would prefer them to be autonomous most of the time, but I know there are a lot of players out there who want the ability to control them directly. So an option to choose in the settings, maybe? Also you could start out with one option at release and still patch the other into the game with a later update.

Please allow both, about pe being controllable.. and about autonomous roommates, that's would be everything!!!! ❤️❤️

One of my favorite sims I ever had was a horse. I loved that he would randomly go around biting people and making his own decisions but I also loved playing him as a character. I actually didn't even care what my human would do, I spent all of my time playing the game as a horse. In the sims 4 I almost never own a pet because they're unplayable and mostly a nuisance. As for roommates, I would love to have a roommate I have no control over. Most of the time I start a game with a single character but I end up missing the daily interaction of seeing the same characters.

I would love to be able to toggle who i can and cannot control

Pets may be fully autonomous but still controllable. I don't wanna click them for all the micro management like eating, but only for few specifics actions. Or maybe they can be controlled only through the parafolks by giving them orders

Could we please have roommates that do NOT share the same bank account/funds with the entire household??? separate household funds makes sense. there could be like a household funds and then indivual funds kind of thing to pay bills and buy food. theres a mod that does that called SNB for sims 4. however, sims 4 bores me to tears .

Roommates would be awesome!

Would LOVE roommates I can’t control. It gets tedious and would add new life to the simulation. You can’t control others in real life, only yourself!

If we have autonomous pets can we at least see their stats so that we can help their needs?

i would love to have roommates! especially if you can customize them

definitely would like to have a roommate option, as well as maybe like townhouses?

In Sims 3, they have a slider for sim and pet autonomy. It could be an option for you to have a similar system. I would prefer the animal to take care of it’s needs itself, but I would also want the ability to control it so I can be active with my pets. As for roommates, that’s a fantastic idea. It’s nice when you’re starting out to have some people around so you don’t feel stressed and pressured to go out to the town and meet people, while taking care of your needs and trying to build a career and get started. Also, it’s nice to have the option of roommates when you feel like just developing one or two of your characters. I think this really simulates real life in a benign way.

I prefer controlable pets, but it's nice to have the option. Maybe with a cheat, the pet could become autonomous and vice-versa!

Nash Souza

that could be optional I think

Tauras Giedraitis

Personally, I'd like to have both systems! Autonomous pets make for more interesting stories (and more realistic too), while controlled pets allow for storytellers to perfectly recreate the vision they have!

Rafael R

I would love the roommate system!!! Also, if we could click on Pets and see their needs, but can't control them, that would be really handy!

Jake Sae-Tern

Mejor autónomas, pero tal y como dicen en otros comentarios, sería ideal contar con una opción para poder elegir si controlarlas o no. Las opciones nunca sobran ♥

Not sure if this is still open for consideration, but I think autonomy should vary by pet. My cat would be autonomous but my dog more open to suggestion, for example

Such a great idea! That way you can even switch them ''on'' autonomous.

I’d like to have an option in the settings menu to control whether or not we want pets autonomous that way the player could decide depending on their team pay through!

Ewaka Flaka

I’d like to have the flexibility to control how anonymous each of my pets would be. Not just black and white.

Xinrong Ding

Autonomous roommates would be amazing. However, as another user mentioned, itd be cool if we could have some interactions with them that could indirectly control them. Such as setting chores so my Parafolk doesnt have to do it all the time. Like a "ask to do dishes, ask to do laundry, ask to clean bathroom, ask to cook," etc.

I personally would prefer to have the ability to control them but I think having both options would be great.

Not being able to control them would be useful since I'm sure there will be plenty to do, it would also be nice if they didn't take up room in the household slots and limit how many people we could have. :)

Shiney

I like it when im not in control most of the time but both would be awesome!

oH mY gOd ThEy WeRe RoOmMaTeS

Aaron

It would be awesome to have autonomous roomates!!! Because “ and they were roomates”

I prefer to control pets, however I would like the option to choose either. :)

Yes, roommates would be a fantastic idea :) It would be super awesome if we had a way to choose the roommates vs a spawned choice.

I'd love to be able to switch between NPC and playable on one character. Like there's a menu and you can tick a box of autonomous or playable.

Roommates you don't control would be great but also have the option to add or remove them from active household

I would like to have semi-control of my own pet and could be good i can entrain and my pet can learn tricks and have interaction to others pets. About roommates could be interesting to not control some.

Roomates you can't control would be wonderful.

I don't really mind about pets, but generally would prefer them to be autonomous. I would love the ability to have roommates you can't control!

Roommates you can't control sounds like a great idea!

I like both autonomous and controlled animals! Also roommates you can’t control would be amazing, it’d be an extra challenge to the game! Especially if you don’t know all their characteristics at first and you only find out over time.

For the animals to have both choice would be great, but if they're autonomous the AI as to be quiet good too. For the roomates, would be awesome to have them function on their own with us having to deal with the mess they create in our Para lives :3

Julia Moreau

I want both of them! Two options is the best way. I think

I reckon having roommates you can’t control would be so good! I’m sick of controlling heaps of people at once lol

I would love to have roommates that you can't control! It adds such an interesting level of game play!

i think it be cool if in settings that its choice to choose if pets are autonomous or controlled, i like to sometimes play as the pets, and if have both then everyone is happy and no one forced to have thing that they don't want.

CrazyGalaxyCat

I agree! I think this is really important. I would love to see personality come more into interactions with each other.

Love the idea of roommates that do their own thing! Would add an extra challenge as you'd have to move you Para around people who might be in there way. Also would accurately simulate the frustration of having real roommates.

Caitlin Stow

I like the thought of not being able to control roommates—and our player Para could have prompts to ask their roommates to do certain things, like chores. Their relationship to the roommate and our Para's charisma and leadership could influence whether the roommate does what they ask or not.

Amy Joscelyn

I agree that the option to choose allows players to customize their play style, but personally I think autonomous pets is more realistic. As we embody our Paras, their pets become our pets!

I'd like an option to decide whether you want to be autonomous or not, I think I lean more towards autonomous but it's nice to have that option sometimes. Also I LOVE the idea of autonomous roommates, I feel like it could make relationships much more real and surprising if you cant control what the other person is doing

I think that sims pets are so demanding, i don't care if they are autonomous but i just don't want them to be so stresful

I think a choice to have control or not would be nice. If it’s possible.

i think being able to choose to control or not control your animal would be awesome! and having random roommates that would bring some activity to your house but not have to control them all the time would be so much fun!

XXXTigger

Maybe you could make like a choice thing where you can either control or not control the pets, for your own choosing

and pets should have a separate counter in the household because it was annoying in the sims 4 when they counted as the household and i couldn’t have as many people because of having pets

having a setting for roommates that you don’t have to control would be great because it would help focus on the character you made and not have to worry about the needs of the other roommates

Maybe a setting for roommates that gives them full autonomy but the user can still control them if they choose. I don't always like to control everyone but I do like them to sometimes go along with what I'm doing.

BroSkittles

It would be nice with wild animals, like rodents and birds and stuff in the world - you don't have to interact with them maybe, but at least they're there 🤗

Freja Mikkelä

I think itd be best if it were an option to toggle on or off, both for pets as well as roommates

The roomates is a good idea, It would be even more perfect if in the paramaker we can decide if the character is playable or not, i love create big families but i stress myself controlling them.

I would love to have roommates, I actually think that's a brilliant idea.

I think it would be perfect if we had both of them. like in the sims you can choose for sims to be autonomous when you don't control them, it would be amazing if we could do that with pets too!

I think a toggle or cheat to control if wanted would be a good thing in both cases. I prefer autonomous, but there are times one needs to be able to control, especially roomates that get on ones nerve lol.

TnT_Terry

i feel like ts2 deal with pets controlability really well- standard gameplay has pets as uncontrollable and you could change that with cheats!

Luna

regarding roommates, alex pls dont make roommates as obnoxious as they are in ts4. like I'll give them a full ass house and their needs aren't met and they leave. no logic!!

zoe

I 100% agree. I'd like to at least have the option.

zoe

noooooo :(( i want control please. maybe give us an option to enable/disable control for the people who don't want it? I had a lot of fun with it in TS3 so I'd be sad if this wasn't implemented.

zoe

would love to have roommates!! and pets you can’t control

I voted to control pets because I like to play as a stray in the Sims 3 on occasion, however, I think that some kind of cheatcode to toggle pets (and other members of the household) between controllable and autonomous would be best.

It would be great if pets could work like in TS2 😊

I would definitely prefer to control my pets. I enjoy it way more. But autonomous roommates sound great!

Autonomous roommates absolutley! <3 I think it would be great to have the option to chose. It's more "realistic" gameplay to have them run around and do whatever they like but sometimes you would like to control them to. If not for the sole purpose to get them to sit or walk to a specific place.

if i had to pick just one, i'd prefer autonomous pets because it's more true to a life simulation, though i think being able to have a toggle for either option is also great for different types of players. i think there's a fine line between having enough control in the game to feel like there's creative freedom, and having too much control and it feeling more like a chore or being too overwhelming.

I like the though of the idea of roommates 🥰 with the ability of kicking them out

It would be great if we could have both options on pets, I like the idea of a cheat code being used to do this. That way if you aren't really feeling like playing as the pets one day you just don't bother with the cheat code. LOVE the idea of roommates, just make sure there's some way to kick them out if they become too much lol.

I don't want to control my pets, but I want to train them like I would any real pet.

Personally I think it would work best if pets weren't controllable by default, but perhaps having a cheat or option to make them controllable. The same goes for roommates, I would love for them to be autonomomous, I mean if I want to control them I can just add them to my household (perhaps?). A thing I think were missing from the Sims series was the fact that we had roommates, but if you married someone you couldn't choose if they should move in as an autonomous npc (as a roommate) or as an actual playable character. I've often stopped playing because I loved one character but hated the wife (even though she was perfect for my sim). So I would love for an option to choose what Paras in a household are playable and which are autonomous. I know this is a big difficult feature, but I'm just throwing it out there, seeing what happens :)

HelenaHuman

I love the idea of having roommates and personally much prefer controlling my pets.

I like the idea of autonomous roommates!

Dana Darling

LOVE the idea of roommates!!!

Jimmy Neutron

I think you should have an option to control pets or not. I hate controlling them, but I know others love it. Also yes to autonomous roommates! I love having lots of kids in Sims games, but hate controlling them when they become teens. An option to toggle them on and off would be great.

I really loved being able to control pets in the sims 3 and prefer that. But I like the idea of it being an option :). Also autonomous roommates 100%!

Having an option as mentioned before would be cool to have as a feature. This would benefit both sides of this poll :)

I feel you! I remember being excited when in TS2 a parent would kiss a child's head when they were asleep. Some unpredicted interactions add so much magic to the game.

Having autonomous roomies would be amazing! However, having an option to control them would probably be beneficial too.

I like the idea of having both options , because it caters to both kinds of players. I do prefer autonomy though. Sometimes I like to observe the game, more than I like playing it- if that makes sense. I’d like to see the paras completing actions on their own, and interaction with other paras as well.

PixelPerfect

I think a roommate that you don’t have to control would absolutely add so much to the game.

I also really miss the aspects of owning property in sims 3 and it would be cool if you could put rooms out for rent and have uncontrollable roommates and make a small profit off of their stay every week/whatever time period

I would LOVE uncontrollable roommates. Sometimes I wanna focus on one person and kinda put everyone on pause cuz I don’t care lol so it would be cool and a lot more realistic. They could even have different living habits and be messy or invite people over. Or if you have children or teens there could be an exchanged student coming to stay ! There’s so many more stories you can make with it

This♥️

Aleksandra Gołębiewska

I prefer it to be autonomous

Honestly, I don't know. I think that should be something toggle-able so we could decide whichever we feel inclined towards. I mean, we might feel want to play towards more realism or we might want to play God. I mean, I think The Sims was even classified as a God game. :P

The Duke of Rockford

I like the idea of having uncontrollable roommates though. Maybe you could extend the idea and have "children" that can't be controlled. Say if your para gives birth or adopts, then you control the child as well....but if your para fosters a child they only stay for a short period of time and you can't control them.

Dizzardy

Personally I prefer the option of being able to control pets. I never really get why people say it shouldn't be possible to control your pets because you can't control them in real life....it's not realistic to be able to control an entire town full of people in real life either.

Dizzardy

Make sure that when other Paras get pets they are also able to take care of them. In TS3 most pets outside the players household die because other houses don't have any of the items related to pets.

Jordy

Yes to the uncontrollable roommates

Janita Lähteinen

I love uncontrolable roommates.. it’s good for para that live alone :) Also since roommates are there, maybe u can consider about system that shared bills with our roommates (since we are live together :P) Rent system or dormitory system maybe could be a fit for roommates :D Cheers Alex and team!!

Jason S

Yes, I'd love to have roommates in my game!!

Clowo

I definitely like the idea of roommates!

Ive never loved someone as much as I love Alex 🤷🏾‍♀️

Alexa Lubin

Can they be like paras? You can tell them what to do, but they still have their own autonomy.

Piper Smiley

I love the idea of having roommates in the household that you could not control. However, I would like the option of giving them commands like for example be able to ask the roommates to do certain chores instead of just hoping they do it anonymously. For the pets it should definitely be an option on if you would rather control them or have them be anonymous and do things on their own. Because I know that in the Sims when pets came out a lot of people were disappointed on not being able to control their pets or not seeing what their stats were. I definitely like having the sense of controlling my pets but maybe just have an option kind of like the Sims when a sim leaves, the animals take care of themselves.

Brianna

I have a slight preference for autonomous pets, but having to opt to toggle it on & off would be awesome as on occasion I might want to change up my game play to include it for a different & interesting experience. I would also LOVE to have roommates as an option!!

Morgan LF

I would like the roommate option. Like having life in the house without controlling all of the characters. I would like to choose my roommates too and not have random people become my roommates.

Hehehada

I'd like to have the option to control them if I wanted. However, at the same time I don't want them to just sit around and die if I don't. I want them to have at least some free-will, so that they can still eat, sleep, walk around etc by themselves. So, I went for controlling pets but, I hope that doesn't mean no autonomy, lol.

What pets are you thinking of putting

For the best because sometimes i may not feel like playing for my pet

I think having the option to decide woud

I definitely thing the best way would be an option! Like for the pets, maybe a slider in settings to turn on and off autonomy?

Uncontrollable roomates would be incredible. It would be so cool if one could rent out places, and maybe a young person doesn't want to pay much so might rent a room in an apartment with roomates.

I think provide the option for both for both. But if that is too taxing I'd prefer autonomous for both pets and roommates.

Phil M

I would love the option of autonomous roommates. I'm most definitely that person who only wants to focus on one or two people. Would be nice to have some "suggest" options or random scenarios related to cooking/cleaning, disciplining their pets, noise level, etc. And they can autonomously complain to/do something nice for your family too :)

I’d love roommate! I wouldn’t like to control them. Maybe you can have interactions with them like, “can you clean up?” And they can be like yes or no depending on their mood or personalities. Like if they have a destructive personality they play music all night and hardly clean up after themselves and forget to pay rent. Or if they have a nice personality they do nice things like clean the house and water the plants! Could all depend on your relationship with them as well! But I would rather them think for themselves unless their in MY house hold.

Ludivine

Paradox approach for me: you play as a specific ~~sovereign~~ character, but it's easy to switch if you want to, and then let us play _as_ the pets as a bonus :-)

Mod Zero

I would like to have the option to be able to choose if I want to control my pets or not. I would love to be able to have roommates that i cant control, makes the game more interesting and fun :)

I would prefer both, for pets and parafolk. For example I would like to control only one sim and one pet and the other members of the household are AI controlled. That would be awesome.

Nina Felwitch

I like the idea of uncontrollable roomates :)

I prefer to have them do whatever by themselves but to be able to interact and have them learn tricks and take them with you places, even in the car! Also i would like if you had to do things like feed them and water them in order to keep them alive- just like in real life!

Definitely uncontrollable roommates. It also reflects so many of our contemporary living situations

wicked maestro

I would at the very least like to be able to command my pets to eat or move to certain locations but other than that I like it when they do their own thing. Mostly because I like the idea that if they bug out and won't eat from their bowl I can make them so they don't starve themselves.

Yes to uncontrollable roommates.👍

Uncontrollable roommates would make an amazing addition

I would LOVE to have roommates that I cannot control, but I would also like them to be a bit more... intelligent than what I've seen in other simulation games ;) what I mean is, it would be nice if they are athletic, I expect to see them go for physical activities when they are bored, not go straight to the chess board :D and I would also enjoy seeing them come strike a conversation first, rather than me having to initiate them all the time. Thank you for all the hard work you are putting into listening to community sugestions, I am sure it will pay off in the end!

I love the idea of roommates you can't control, it adds a bit of surprise to simulation games! S*ms 4 had a nice idea with the option to whistle for your pets, which had zero delay and made it easier to care for your pets without having to control their actions.

I like not controlling the roommates, but if a cute looking room mate comes along I would like the opportunity to get them together. Also I would like the choice to control or not the pets.

kesionna

Both choices please!

h2o Queen

i would like a semi-controllable pet. like, it would do most things on its own, but be able to make it do certain things, if i'm bored. also. i would love it, if we could get a service dog for a family member. wether this person is blind or partially blind, we could have a very obedient service dog! as for uncontrollable roommates: yes! this would open up a whole new challange to the game!

Vegard Myklebust

Both seems like it'd be great for everyone! I personally just want to let them do their own thing.

Alysia

I LOVE the idea of autonomous roommates!!! I have been waiting for that my whole life!

I'd definitely love to be able to select my pets to check on their needs/stats/tricks/what-have-you, even if they can't be controlled! Personally I prefer not being able to actually control their actions, but the ability to toggle control with a setting or cheat would be fantastic. (And I'd DEFINITELY love to have uncontrollable roommates!!)

Absolutely yes to roomates! :)

Definitely yes to autonomous roommates! I also like the option to control your pets if you want, but also toggle it off if you want to be more focused on the rest of the household for certain play styles

Hayley Biddle

Autonomous roommates sounds like a great idea, maybe even have it apply to family members so you can put more focus on other things

I would prefer control over the pets, but I'd also like to have the option of them being autonomous, and I would LOVE roommates!! They would make game play much more exciting!!

Monica Johnson

We need roommates!😍

Ava Wolchuk

Option to have both please! And yes to roommates!

Priscilla

Would love having the option of both!

Please just have both as options ;'( I'll be so sad is you can't control them

Crystal Diamond

I think having roommates would be awesome! I think it'd be cool if having roommates would lower bills and maybe even furniture costs.

Narwatee

While I will mostly be using them autonomously, having a toggle to be able to control them would be great. I have always wanted to play as a family of stray animals in TS but I was never able to.

Yes to roommate option! That would be amazing!

Roommates would be delightful! Yes, Please!

I think roommates would be good!

roommates would be great!!

Personally, I would like both. Autonomous while the pet isn't selected, but you can select the pet and take control of it. (Sims 3 style)

Daniel 'DazzaJay' Fitzgerald

I think it'd be cool if you can turn it off and on in the settings

I like being able to control them, when I want to, but not HAVING to. So roommates is a very good idea too, but it is certainly a wish being able to add more people to the household. Though most important: pets should have a SEPERATE COUNTER then the folks! Like... being able to add 8 folks and 8 pets!

MadhattersTwin

I prefer autonomous pets but I think having a toggle to enable / disable it in some sort of setting (maybe per-household or global, not sure) would be the best of both worlds. Roommates would be an awesome idea! Not having to control them is fine!

I would love to play only one person in a family or have roommates I don't have to control.

I would love the option to have autonomous roommates / household members. I always tend to make a big sims family but only want to focus on playing one or two of the family members out of the 4-5 I made

I like autonomous pets with also the option to control them. Same with roommates

Roommates I don't have to control sounds epic!

I'm down for autonomous roommates. Always fun for random stuff to happen in your household!

Autonomous roommates would be awesome!! That’s definitely something the Sims lacked when you have your young adult move out!!

I love the roommate idea. I don't like controlling too many people but would like a full household

Gill Reid

I would love autonomous roomates. Also with pets, the option to control them, but not the need to. So they're perfectly capabale of caring for themselves, but if I really need them to take a nap, I can make them do that.

IAmALeaf

Autonomous roommates would be amazing!!

Tasha

I'd definitely prefer autonomous pets and roommates, as long as they acted fairly realistically, i.e. sleeping, eating, using the bathroom, etc at appropriate times.

Marisa (gfvsims)

Love the idea of npc roommates!!!

Anxious Aries

YES to unmanageable roommates! I think that's a great idea. Having them leave for work or school, etc. and come back home would be cool.

Ayanna F

Love the roommate idea.

Yes to the roommate idea! I would love to make a big famlie too where I only control one person!

I really like the roommate idea- I love having a large household but it can be too difficult to have to worry about controlling each individual character. This could also introduce a lot of cool new concepts, like splitting rent, living with a grandparent who has a mind of their own, parties with roommates, etc.

Autonomous pets is great too, thyough It'll be nice to be able to call then to do stuff (not necessarily controlling them entirely), they (the pets) can choose to obey/respond or disobey.

Liisa

Unmanageable roommates is an AWESOME idea! It will make the gameplay more interesting and unpredictable.

Liisa

Having Unmanageable roommates is a great idea!

I think having unmanageable roommates would be a great idea.

I prefer autonomous pets. Also roomates sound good but depending on the situation i want the ability to charge rent. But of course i want it so thats not always appropriate. If my friend is homeless and has nowhere else im not gonna charge them, im just going to say please dont mess up my house.

I prefer autonomous pets. I also love the idea of having roommates you can't control! I think that would be fun 😁

warmestbloggerever

Roommates are a hundred percent yes as long as I have the ability to lock them out a certain door, like a bedroom. I picked I would like automatic pets but I would like if you trained them you can earn the ability to control them a bit more. Like your Para would command a pet to do something on their behalf within reason, and the higher you train the more complex the command can be, like getting a beer from the fridge lmao.

Scarlletta

I prefer having the ability to choose whether or not pets can be controlled or remain autonomous. Also, I think roommates that you don't have to control are a great idea! It's nice to have that interaction in the game without adding the stress of another character into the gameplay.

I prefer both there are times I would want to do it. but their times I do not and if do play the game for a while I would know that. pets would be taken care of even if I am not there

Ideally I'd like to have some control, but it doesn't have to be full control. I imagine something like setting a general behavior that lasts a few hours, and triggers a series of autonomous actions pet owners have to deal with. You can decide that the cat in your family is playful, but you can't decide whether it's gonna play with a toy mouse of the couch, for instance.

ladyteruki

I would also really love farm animals and just the ability to create a farm in general! Maybe something for down the road.

I really love being able to control my pets, it lets me tell some fun stories with them. I would LOVE it if you could toggle or do both.

Nivea

Autonomous would add that little extra bit of chaos I think we all enjoy in the Sims 1-3 and what's missing from Sims 4.

Kristen

I see that autonomy is winning, but if possible I'd like it to be something you can toggle on and off. Whether or not I can control pets is the defining factor of whether I play with them or not

74xworse_thanyou

Yes! It would be so annoying if you wanted them to do something and you couldn't

74xworse_thanyou

All the spoils, you give us! Options are always nice when functionality is in question. Appreciate you scope out the fanbase preference while still providing for all wants and needs.

Being able to toggle autonomy for pets and roommates would be cool!

Ryn

Personally I prefer to play with autonomous pets, but as someone above said: for film makers it may be important to control them. As for the roommates, I think it's a great idea that they would be autonomous also!

Maybe give players the option to toggle autonomy! I love the idea of having roommates that are NPCs! I think as long as their AI allows for a consistent personality, and they don’t often act out of character, then I think it would be an interesting feature! I’m definitely one of those simmers that gets overwhelmed even when I have a family of four to manage 😂

I LOVE the idea of having roommates that would exist on their own!

Alex Cazander

For those who like to tell stories/make little films I think being able to control pets is important.

Maddy

Roommates you can't control would be amazing, though I love the ability (maybe in settings) to disable autonomy so that you can control them, if you want. Sometimes it's nice to have a storyline and control the roommates for a second!

LapeyLou

I love the idea of having roommates that I can't control! It's unpredictable and adds another layer of fun in my opinion. That's also why I like autonomous pets! :D

Katharina Wiebold

I like having roommates that I can't control because it adds a little chaos. Also, I like not having control of my pets, but I do like being able to see their stats (similar to the sims 2's pets)

I think it would be a great idea to have to have not controllable roommates.

Personally I prefer autonomous pets and voted as such. THAT SAID, I'd prefer Both Options (with/without) because I know some people love controlling pets in other games.

I mean I like yo control my pets so I know their needs are filled and I can help them learn skills but i like autonomous roommates because if I just wanted to control them, all I would need to do is add them to my household.

I would like to be able to control my roommate sometimes but not all the time depending on my playing mood that day, mainly because roommates in past games they end up going into your room instead of using their own 😂😅 But I think it’d be cool to have it as a toggle on/off feature to be able to do both :)

S&M Gonzalez

IMO, It would be great if we have the option to choose if we would like it to be autonomous or controllable when playing both pets and roommates so it'll be fair.

I would like not to have to control my roommates and have it your choice on pets.

Yeah I'm thinking at this point I choice would be best. Like you can turn their autonomy on to high and just let the pets run free, or you can turn it to low and take control.

Haley

Roommates you can't control would be an awesome idea! Same would apply if you could choose some family members to be AI-controlled (like if you want to control the parents but not the kids for instance)

AmbiguouslyAnonymous

I think having the option to choose would be good. For the roommates, i think as long as they don’t mess up your house/listen to what you ask of them, itd be nice. Maybe be able to lock certain doors/computers to stop them from messing with your stuff 🤔. Either way, i love what you’re doing so far 🤗🤗🤗

Autonomous pets and uncontrollable roommates sounds great 👍

Kisica

I would love to have both options for pets! The roommate idea is great too.

Casey

Honestly I don’t like autonomous roommates. I never use that function in The Game Which Can’t Be Mentioned because I hate that I can’t control what they do - like snooping around in my characters room and playing on their laptop.

Roommates would be amazing!

Would love to have roommates that you don’t need to control!

Yes to autonomous roommates!

Is there any chance of other types of pets too? For those of us who go for more alternative options? Snakes, lizards, birds, hamsters, ferrets, etc.

I love roommates you don’t have to control!

I like to have the option of basic control with pets, like tell them to eat or where to walk. I don't like to micromanage them.

Love roommates! Honestly, I wish I could opt to not control some household members in a family too, i.e... I can choose to not have control over parents, spouses, children, siblings, etc., and put all my live mode play effort into one para. That would be helpful sometimes... as an option to see what story develops around your chosen para, but of course I love toggling between everyone too, and having ultimate story control.

Melissa Toothman

Love the room mate idea I personally like controlling one character only and having the rest autonomous around me but love having more people in my home like family members or roommates!!

I would love to have both features. I like to control the pets but there are others who don't, so having both should satisfy everyone's need.

sunwk

I would like both pets and roommates to be autonomous. Just like in real life - you can train your pets to do/not do certain things, but they have a mind of their own! And roommates would be fantastic - bringing extra income, you have friends whenever you need them and it is a perfect platform for some drama if you want it ;).

I think there should be an option in the game where you can choose if you want to be able to control your pets or not- best of both worlds! I also think roomates sounds like a cool idea!

Stacey Dunnachie

I go out of my way to make the sims that are "roommates" just that. I love having a main sim and AI take over them so I don't have to worry about them

I would love to decide between controlling and autonomy when needing. I tend to want to switch off when playing sims but we don't have that ability. Having roommates would be AMAZING. I love having huge households but I tend to focus on one sim at a time and let the rest fend for themselves. That would be an AMAZING feature!!! :)

Bri Bergman

Maybe have a button where we have a choice, becuse that would be nice.

I like controlling pets! But love the option not to sometimes. I just like to see them do cute things. And I love the idea of roommates! I really enjoy apartments in simulation games, I get pretty burned out navigating a large lot or a big family

Niambi Faizah

The roommates idea is awesome!!! Please do that because it's all I've been hoping for with the sims4

Weeeh123

Pets should definitely be controllable but also be "chaotic" while autonomous, best of both worlds! Also, roommates are a great idea! :)

Stermatical

I'd like the pets to be like sims 3 where it was a mix of both. The pets had full autonomy, but you could still see their stats and direct them to do stuff if need be. Also autonomous roommates would be awesome!

Akasha O'Connell

Would love to bounce between both options for pets & roommates. Sometimes I might feel like doing this action for them but most of the time I'd probably prefer to focus on my main character.

there could be different household dynamics. some households where you control them and some where you just control 1 sim. then there could be autonomy options for both + cheats etc.

Autonomous pets, but with some kind of info sheet, so I know whats up :) Roommates sound amazing!

I prefer to have the choice to control pets, but I think the option for both would be best. I think the same option for roommates would be good if that is feasible.

John Kitchener

I would REALLY enjoy the option to choose between the two because I tend to bounce between full autonomy and full control play styles. Roommates would be an amazing addition to the game!!

Autonomous is my preference for both, but I think there should be a cheat code or something to control them if players want.

BreakingGaia

Roommates would be a really cool idea I'm not sure why the sims didn't have that from the beginning! Very cool to have people who give u rent and do their own thing! But having the option for controlling pets would be great! I think that gives more control in individual situations where u may want to have more control. But whatever u guys decide will be cool! So excited to have pets in the base game!

Tsion Carbonel

The roommates is a good idea! and I prefer both options for the pets

Xavier Zayas

It sounds as if autonomous pets would be more like they were in sims 2, where you couldn't control what they did but you could view stats, personality etc :)

HelenaHuman

I like the idea of autonomous pets and roommates as long as they're not buggy. Like in Sims 4, there are lots of strays and sickly pets for some reason. Maybe it could be optional in case I do want to micromanage them whenever I feel like being a control freak (teehee)

Definitely Roomates

For sure optional should be available to players who want either, but I personally don’t want to control my pets but seeing the needs is fine. Autonomous roommates are great because its adds to realism

LovelyLunarian

I absolutely love the roommate idea. That would add so much more challenge and interest to some households. It would make you feel like building a relationship was actually an accomplishment rather than just a matter of forcing two paras to interact over and over.

I personally think autonomous pets and roommates would be awesome! But of course, there will be some who enjoy total control so an option should be available if it's possible to implement at some point.

Maggie

Oh, I wasn't expecting more people to prefer autonomous pets. I actually don't mind the ones we have in TS4; I just hate how we can't select them to view their motives and stats.

Aaron

I like autonomous Roomates - I like how we can screen roomates before they move in :)

Definite yes for pet and housemate autonomy.

Roommates' autonomy is a good idea 😊

OMG autonomous rooommates would be amazing!!!

Autonomous pets and roommates would be great in the game. I have a lodger currently and no matter what I do I can't control what he does, so I'm always having to clean up after him. It would certainly make the game more realistic XD

Hannah Hazlehurst

Yes for autonomous pets and roommates!

OMG - yes for having roomates whom you can't control!

Roommates would be a great idea!!!

Love the autonomous roommate idea!

I wouldn't mind not being able to control them but I would love if pets can get jobs like k9 units or in pet therapy or something

Jasmine Perdigon

Both for pets, please! And I would love the idea of autonomous roommates, but please allow us the option to choose and edit them! That feature is really missing in the Sims.

Eleanor Mosley

I like the idea of autonomous roomates!!

Ember Free

Autonomous roommates, yes please! Great for the times you want to have a more roleplayesque experience than a dollhouse one. It would increase the longevity of the game.

I’d want to pick controlling pets, but I’d like for them to pretty much function on their own while I’m not controlling them. I’d just like to have the ability to stop them from getting into trouble or something every now and then. I’d also love to have non-controllable roommates, especially if we can create the roommates.

Jennifer Stephenson

I voted for both

Lucas

I would like to have the option of choosing, but if only one way was available, I would pick controlling pets.

Daniel Vandenberg

The choice would be best. Sometime a more passive style would be fun or a more active one.

Michael Smith

I think it should be both too... with the options to put their autonomy to high-low-none and such. Not being able to control pets in TS4 was a dealbreaker to me, 'cause I sometimes even like to have a playthrough 100% focused on the pets' lives :0

EaselEar

I feel like it should be both. We can choose some to be autonomous and others not

Definitively, I prefer to control pets. It could be fun to control a pet like a human, with special interactivities.

Moua Christina

Roommates would be cool! It would add some realism and difficulty that I think would be entertaining.

I feel like the option for both control and autonomy would be greatly appreciated! But roomates with full autonomy would be fantastic, as long as they arent a complete pain as they are in The Sims.

Where is the option for both control and no control over pets? It’s fun to be able to play as an animal but players should be allowed to choose to play their way. I also like the idea of having roommates we can’t control!

I'd love to be able to have non-controllable roommates!

Agree that I would be perfectly fine with either, I just would like to see their needs. Controlling them is great for storytelling though so that's always a plus. Roommate wise, yes please. I love the idea of being able to have roommates that we don't control. Especially with the idea that they're needed for rent and what not.

13Leagues

I second this

I like autonomous roommates but not like in the sims 4 where only thing they do is that they annoy you. They play violin, flirt and bring a lot of food. And they follow you everywhere. Make them do normal stuff like going to work etc. Make them pay rent. ....I like animal system in the sims 4, but make them stay where they need to stay for example horses make them stay in their stalls etc.

Natalie Jindrakova

I'd like both options

Fabian9799

control pets = 😍😮🤗

I think controlling can be fun, but shouldn't be the standard way of playing. One game that IMO does that really well is Planet Zoo. The animals do their stuff; you never HAVE to "possess" them. But if you do want, you can control one, walk around, etc. I think that's a fun direction!

Also on the note of pets, without getting to far ahead small animals are extremely important. Please dont forget them. I would love to have a huge fish tank or gecko terrarium in the living room.

I like the idea of autonomous pets and roommates, but with an emergency 'intervention' control button for both whenever or if ever needed. I've never seen an intentional option to have built-in override control in any any game except by cheats. In addition, regarding roommates, there should be a clear distinction between roommates and a spouse, girl or boyfriend, fiance, or significant other, simply because building close relationships, especially romantic interaction, would be almost impossible to interact properly if it's always 'one-sided', so to speak. As example, advances not being recipricated or returned while two individuals are interacting; making sure everyone gets off to work; kids get off to school; (etc.). If all possible relationship interactions are set-up properly at the beginning, then the fewer interaction 'updates' would be required when released.

tey711

I want a turn on/turn off option for both

Lucas

Autonomous, but the parapeople should be able to select a food dish and call animals over to it to suggest to them to eat if they are hungry.

Both options pls

I think giving players the option to choose for each household would be amazing. Sometimes in big households you don't want to control everyone, but in smaller ones sometimes you like the control. Maybe there could be a similar option for toddlers and children? If we weren't able to control them all the time it could make gameplay that much more exciting!

Both options for pets would be perfect. As long as I can see their needs at all times I’m happy! I love the idea of autonomous roommates

Taylor Austin

Both control and autonomous for pets please! Saying that here as there wasn't a third option xD

I think the option to control or be autonomous would be awesome.

Ví Rideaux

In my view, pets should be full autonomous with its own needs mgmt. as a Para, I would only interact with them; never control. For NPCs, I would prefer them to be autonomous but with a twist by maybe implement a “Possess” Mode? Let me possess a relevant NPC for a limited time duration so maybe I can mess up my character’s mood from time to time. Should be fun.

Jang

I really really love the roommate idea tbh.

Donish Gibson

Yes to the roommates feature!

Yes to roommates feature!!

Since it 's looking like autonomous pets is winning, could we have an option to control the pets? I do think The Sims 4 failed in that sense.

I love the idea of being able to choose between both, it could be rather laborious to always have to control them but being able to switch it on and off sounds so much fun! Also love the idea of roommates that you don't control, I hate having to micromanage large families but love building big houses in the Sims but they feel so empty with only two people in the household.

Autonomous. I love the roommate idea too. I was thinking for a huge town house build, but this game is so awesome, you can build on the edge of lots so it’ll be it’s own household entirely. Still roommates are great!

Simday1

This should be a simulation game first and foremost so as much autonomous actions as possible is great, including flatmates. The Sims has always been a bit lacking when it comes to letting your sims roam free

I’ve voted for autonomous pets but I think it will be better to have both

Charlotte Ménétret

I would love a roommate system that we wouldn’t control.

Jade Young

Please allow both and let each player play the way they prefer. <3

Rexi SimsbySky

I like being able to control my pets

Haley

Is there somethin planned like a maximum for Paras and pets each? (Don't like it if you have two pets and want them to get two to three kittens or puppies, but for this to happen you can't have more than three human household members....)

I like the idea of autonomous pets but I also like the idea of being able to see their needs like some sort of bar or whatever that I could click on to make sure they are doing okay. As for roommates, I think that is a splendid idea and I would love for people who just do things on their own. But not just random stuff or just things for the sake of health. Like I’d like to see their personality through it like seeing them constantly picking up a book to read or like if they really like baking even if they don’t need to eat or maybe they really like swimming. Just like a trend through their actions that shows their personality

Anu Altankhuyag

I would love a roommate system!

Hanna van Rooijen

I much prefer controllable pets - the pets in TS4 are SO irritating when compared to their TS3 counterparts

I love this idea!!!

I like the Idea of pets being autonomous but -other than in another certain reality simulation- they have to do stuff on their own. For example: eating when their hungry, using the cattoilet etc. I also think it would be nice if the pets were controllable when there was no other parafolk around to play with. Maybe it would be even possible to play a household with only pets in it?? The roommates should be autonomous but autonomous doesn't mean to me that they're just sitting around, drinking water all the time, that is soooo annoying!! Please fill the not-active parts of the houshold with actions that make sense. That way, it'd be far more realistic. Please and thank you! :)

Be able to control it. Sometimes it’s hard when the character has a lot of actions at once it gets screwed up and it’s easier to take care of their needs that way

I would die for roommates! I like the idea of having kids who just do their thing and you just react to the things they do, the path they choose :)

I want an autonomous pets. Just like in real life 🙂

I agree! I think my biggest issues with the Sims 4 Pets is that the AI isn't great and they don't really do what they need to do or play without direction from my sims. If they AI was better, I wouldn't feel the need to control them.

I used to think that managing my let myself was a necessity but with the Sims 4 I kinda realized that if the AI is good I don't need to. I do absolutely want to be able to check their needs and such though. The best really would be to offer both options, like the cheat in the Sims 2. I really love the idea of roommates!! Especially if there's apartment living. Or just being able to make a lot with multiple homes, like a duplex, and have someone living in the other home that I don't have to manage.

As people seem to like both, it might be cool to have a toggle for people and pets as to the autonomy. Toggle it on and they are completely autonomous, giving you the option to have pets and people in a household that you don't/can't have to keep an eye on. And then, if you needed it, you can turn it off for someone if you feel the absolute need to step in and take control.

I'd like to be able to control pets, it doesn't need to be as much as paras. Maybe just general directions, or maybe they don't obey. Maybe the better they're taught the better they'll obey? I don't know

jaaama

I like the idea of both, I want to be able to have the option of either spending the time as the pet, seeing what they see, doing what they do, but also if I switch to a parafolk they'll be able to manage themselves just fine without my instruction.

Chiimikyu

I definitely want to control pets!!! (or have the option for either), I like the idea of roommates you don't control though.

Maddy

Maybe you can't control them at first, but when the Parafolk train them to do things maybe then you can control them/tell them what to do.

Nia

I would love to have both on the pets! I like to let them do their own thing but sometimes I like controlling smaller aspects too. And the roommates idea is so great!

I think I'd generally like the idea of both control/autonomy. But overall, autonomous companions are nice

Greg Savage

Having roommates would be dope. I feel like if it’s done properly then you can still have that game play where you live with a spouse/partner but don’t have to control them or worry about their needs and you can focus on your personal character.

I like the idea of roommates

Brynja Sandhals

Id rather control pets, but if thwyre autonomous at least let us see their needs. Also, I love the concept,of roommates!

TheShaddowedSnow

Why not have both, so we can switch it up on different save files or even just having the options and know thing they’re there.

I think both options should be available. I like being able to control the pets. Roommates, however, I'd prefer to be uncontrollable. The way I see it is: humanoid characters have much more complex interactions with the world and amongst each other, so a controllable roommate may be too much work, where a pet wouldn't be. :))

Astrid Baadsgaard

I would love autonomous roommates!

I like the autonomous roomates idea!

The option to have roommates would be great!

sereneshireen

I would love if you could just give us the opportunity to control them just so we can build our own storylines and get the full pet experience. But as i saw that a lot of people want them to be autonom, i really want to add this: Please, if they are autonom, let them do MANY things! Like if all of their needs are filled they just stand/lay around, and i thinkt thats really boring and unrealistic! Give them many options and let them roam around and do stuff for fun, just do sonething rather than nothing!

I like the idea of uncontrollable roomates and pets, because you dont tell your dog what to do in real life, your dog just does things itself. If we're able to see their needs, but not control them i think it would bring a lot of realism.

For me, Optionnal/both for pet Autonomous roommates It should be amazing in my opinion ! 😁

Lucie San

Controllable pets if they count as part of the household. (So if the limit is 8 and you have 5 para folk and 3 dogs, you cant add anymore). However, if they are autonomous, they can't count as part of the household, but still have a limit on how many you can have. I.e. 8 parafolk and 8 pets or something.

I would absolutely love it if there were more autonomous options like roommates and pets and neighbors actually changing and doing their own stuff instead of just aimlessly wandering. I think that would be so much more interesting. Of course I would also want there to be an option to control everything myself so maybe there could be a way to implement both?

I would like autonomous pets but it would be nice to see like their needs and stuff. I feel like it’s reasonable to know what your pet wants and needs as an owner.

I love the idea of having non-controllable roommates. I like controlling only one at a time so even use mods to make other family members roommates sometimes

The ideia of roommates' really nice. You can ask a Para to live with you/help pay the bills but cannot control them.

I love the idea of uncontrollable roommates! I often pick one character to focus on primarily, micromanaging a large family was never my strong suit haha.

I totally agree!

Uncontrollable pets with the option to toggle autonomy off!!

I want chaos. Give me it to me in the cutest form.

Uncontrollable Pets of course! And the roommates Idea is great, but, they have to help us in the bills andclean up sutfs! 💕

having roommates be autonomous would be amazing !! pets too, it just feels more realistic not being able to control everything they do, and it's less on your plate

Not to bring up the sims 😂 but I hated how they did pets in the sims 4. If the pets are going to not be controllable, that’s okay, I do kinda like the unpredictability of pets cause that’s how it is in real life. But then they shouldn’t take up a household slot

Oh, and it would be cool if you then could have the possibility of making certain sims already in your household autonomous, like if you have a really big family and you want to have that but don’t want to control 7 people’s needs. That’s a bit overwhelming. So maybe you could choose which sims you control, maybe the parents and their child, but not the grandparents etc.

MiKA

I would like to have both options.

MsArchange

Yes for autonomous roommates!

Usually I like to control pets, but in big households it can get a bit overwhelming sometimes. So I think it‘d be nice if there was an option for both. Also npc roommates would be cool, it could add some realism.

I would like it to be a system like the sims 2, where they're not controllable unless you enter a cheat or something -maybe a setting for this in the settings?

With the roommates I'm not sure as I'm one of those people who likes micromanaging lol but

Took the words right outta my mouth lol

Mitsu

I would really love my pets to be their own creatures, I can't control my cats in real life and neither do I want to, I love their unpredictable nature and that they do all kinds of weird and cute stuff. The same goes for roomies!

Big yes for autonomous roommates!😄

Jazzyfay

I love autonomous roommates! But, maybe, add the possibility to close the door of my room, I would hate to see someone in my bed! 🤓

Em Cottone

Room mate idea is pretty awesome. Would love to have people to interact with but not have to take care of etc. Would be cool if we can design them and their personality.

100% agree!

Alex Massé

I've always loved autonomous pets, I feel it adds some realism to them and it's always fun ti see what shanenigans they get in lol

I prefer optional, because it gives us power who we want to play or not! Alternative if you want something different, maybe... If joined during gameplay make the roommate be autonomous! If made through paramaker with the household make it optional!

I would love autonomous roommates!

As long as the pets and roommates aren't as stupid as they are in another unnamed game (cough) in which they starve because they aren't smart enough to just walk to a food bowl that's full and eat, then I would love them to be autonomous, but I like the idea of being able to toggle between control and autonomy. I mean, let's face it. Can anybody really control a cat? 😂

Maiden Minnesota

I forgot to say, I love the roommate idea! With pets will there be small pets included like hamsters, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs etc?

Carol Gray

I think that having the option for both would be great! In TS4 I use a mod that has a cheat to enable controlling pets so that I can control them when I want to, but don’t have to worry about it otherwise. As for roommates, I think not controlling them but having the option to ask them to do/not do certain behaviors would be good. They could also have a chance to ignore your requests, just like real life.

if pets are autonomous, it would be nice to at least be able to see their needs. you can't do that on the Sims 4 and it's really annoying

I would like autonomous with the paras being able to ask their pets to do something. Very much like, I call my dog over to eat or tell my cat to get out of my room. Sometimes they obey... sometimes they don’t. Very realistic! 😂

Grace Sivils

I love the roomates idea! 🤩 But can you still have big families where you can controll everyone too? 🙈

BekkiRoss

I chose autonomous but i really want both options and autonomous roommates is a must have for me.

Rose Mack

The roommates idea is so great!

Miss Adrian Lee

I prefer to have the option to control pets, although, I wouldn’t control them often! Mostly when training pets or when my parafolk is at work. I think it would add to gameplay though to have the option to control them. And yes to non-controllable roommates! Adds a sense of realism.

I vote for autonomous but for the people who would like to control their pets maybe you can have an option for that within the game. Cheers xx

literary_warrior

Both please 😋

I would prefer pets to be mostly autonomous but with the possibility to control them too, maybe you could turn it on and off in settings or with a cheat. Also YESS to the autonomous roommates! But that’s only if they’re actually good at taking care of their own needs, whenever I have roommates in sims 4 they keep on moving out because “I didn’t give them what they needed to take care of their needs”, when in reality they just can’t find the toilet even if I have 5 🤷

MiKA

I prefer autonomous for both - it adds some unpredictability and personality that I feel is lost if I'm micromanaging everyone (because I absolutely cannot stop myself from micromanaging if it's an option lol)

Jacklin

Roommates would be cool. I would personally like to be able to control pets. I’ve lost to many pets in the sims because they had food and could get to it but wouldn’t actually go eat

Chloe & Warren B

I'd love roommates. It's fun to have them do whatever they want and see the shenanigans they would get into.

I like the idea that you can control your pets, but through an indirect system. And their ability to follow commands would improve with skill and relationship. But I think for both pets and roommates, you should be able to turn autonomy on or off per roommate/pet

About roommates: YES I'VE WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LOOOOOOONG

It's totally possible!

Alex Massé

Yes! Maybe be able to influence but not control

lis1273

If possible, an option of autonomy on/off could be good, I remember that TS3 was TEDIOUS to have pets, they were like another sim, it was annoying and didn't have that much of a charm. I have cats in real life and is a blessing I don't have to tell them where and when to pee, I would like the same for my parapet here, however I know people would want control over their parapet. To at least have the option to unlock your pets actions with a mod o cheat (worst case escenario), or the best option would be not an off/on but levels of autonomy: 0% full control over your pet, 25% they take care of their needs alone, 50% they can do another things here and there... And so one, maybe a full autonomous pet could even discover a way to travel to space or something crazy hahahahah. But I'm aware not everything is possible and I can't demand this things, toss the idea around isn't harmful tho ;)

I like both, but I guess if I had to choose I like autonomous. In the sims 4 the dogs are always getting skunked or knocking over trash cans.... way too much. Im good with autonomous but please lessen the % they do stuff like that. It's not realistic at least with the skunk.

lis1273

Why can’t both options be included for pets? The ability to control them if you want and switch it to autonomous if you don’t

Carol Gray

Yes, we plan to have personalities for pets too :)

Alex Massé

Roommates would be so nice!!! Just hope we can decide who and style them if we want ^^ and had kids too!! If we want a big family as roommates ;)

Autonomous pets and roommates please! Less to manage, more fun and spontaneous and more realistic!

I like the idea of controlling pets but I love autonomous. It's realistic to life. I love animals watching them peacefully do their own thing. Like the horse grazing for grass while it's foal runs around his/her momma. Such a beautiful small pleasure to see in a game of life lol

Love the idea of roommates! There's something so satisfying about it

Autonomous roommates sounds like a great idea, as long as they actually take care of themselves and don't accidentally starve or like never shower

Could we have a cheat to control pets if they where autonomous pets just invade we want both same with roommates?

Trishy

I'd love NPC roommates. Separate bank accounts etc.

Being able to have roommates but not having to control them would be perfect. Controlling the way they look though would be preferable, say if we want to tell a certain story. Thanks again for including our input and for all of you and your teams hard work!

I would also like autonomous roommates for similar reasons, they're uncontrollable and have their own lives, if they aren't part of the family then I'd love to just see how they interact and respond to things outside of my control.

I love the ideia of autonomous roommates!

Haha, yes!

Alex Massé

I prefer autonomous pets however it would be nice to have the option to control them in a very basic way (telling them to eat, use a litter tray etc) but leaving other pet actions up to the game (actions like scratching furniture, barking for attention, playing with items etc) This way the game would control the pet’s personality while we could take care of it’s needs if we wanted to (or just leave the game to handle all of their actions if the player wanted to have a more hands off approach.) Will there be a personality/trait system in Paramaker for pets? So excited to see what you do either way!! Non-controllable roommates is a great idea!

I love the option to turn autonomy on and off for the animals and I love the idea of non controlled roommates because then if you want to just focus on one or two sims and not the whole household then you could do that

Can't confirm the limit for now since we are still testing stuff but we'd like to allow more than 8 if possible!

Alex Massé

I like autonomous pets because it's more realistic and I personally never controlled mine in the Sims so I can't see myself doing it in Paralives either. Uncontrollable just adds more depth whereas if they're controllable then your families would hardly interact with them because you could just control them to do whatever you want yourself.

Yeah, in my opinion, roommates I can’t control would be better. It’s more fun when there are a lot of people, but you don’t have to take care of them. I liked this feature in Sims. Although it was a bit buggy.

Andy

i like the idea of autonomous pets/roommates being toggable. I don't want to nanny them like my normal playable characters but instead "suggest" they do this or that. Like if your dog prefers to play but clearly needs to eat you can "strongly suggest" it goes eat. or if your roommate is being messy you can strongly suggest they pick up after them selves

SinfulPetGirlRD

I would love to have autonomous pets and especially roommates!

The room mates idea is awesome 😍

No roommates. I don't even use that function in the Sims.

I love the idea of autonomous roommates! Makes for a good story line. I don't like micromanaging everyone-- just a few select to play with.

I love the idea of non controllable roommates. It is a perfect way to have company without the hustle of taking care of someone that you really don’t want.

Diana H

I definitely like to have the option to switch between controlling and not controlling pets...Especially if my household would get bigger, I would definitely want to turn it off as needed. I also love the idea of not having to control roommates...just as long as their actions make sense, if that makes sense to you. For example, I would hate it in my Sims games when my college roommates (in Sims University) would eat spoiled food and I couldn't stop them from eating it. Thank you for considering our input

A lot of things in this image make me so happy!!!!! The hours on the window and the pasta festival board!!! Can’t wait!

i think it would be nice to have the option to control pets. you can go surprise your person with cuddles or whatever! :) non-controlled room mates also sounds fun.

I can't decide which I want. Maybe (unless it's too difficult) there could be a toggle in options to which it would be?

I'd looovvveee for roommates to control themselves. That sounds like an awesome idea. I personally don't make families or anything because of that lol I hate having to control more than one person. It's too much for me lol And I think if you were to make pets controllable, you could give us an option to make them autonomous. I like both ideas honestly. But it'd be cool to have the option to do one or the other

1 - It would be nice if it was left open enough to mod so that if people wanted to control pets, they could download a mod (like in the sims) 2- YES roommates! It gives so much more depth to story-driven play...and let's be honest...torturing virtual people by placing them in a room together while you make a profit.

Phoenix

I would prefer a mix of both, where they kinda do their own thing, but you could step in when necesary

Sofie-liv Pedersen

I love the idea of a roommate that you can't control. I feel like that would make the game so much more fun.

KittlynM

I personally found the controllable animals in sims 3 to be too much work so I prefer 'autonomous' in the sense I don't want to actively control. I think it's more fun to interact with the animals rather than control them. However, I do think you should have to feed and bathe and play with animals like you do in real life, therefore fulfilling their needs. As for roommates - I think non controllable roommates could be cool, especially for things like city living.

Teanna A Schmaeh

I definitely would like to have autonomous roomates and pets

I definitely think there should be an option for people to choose if they want to control them or not in an options menu, that way everyone’s happy and can play their preferred way (: With the roommates though it’d probably be better if they were non controllable as they’re not technically ‘apart of the family’, if that makes sense 😅

would love to have uncontrollable roommates!!!

I definately want autonomous! I mean we can't control our pets irl, so I feel it makes it more realistic. And roommates you don't have to control would be awesome! Sometimes I can barely manage my own character

i’d love to have the autonomous roommates!!

LOVE THE IDEA of uncontrolled roommates!! My only request is to please make sure that the rent is split reasonably between our parafolk and our roommates. I don't want to have to pay for 1k in bills while they're only paying 300, you know? :D

I’d definitely like NPC roommates!!

Craig Blyth

Please just do both. I really want to control them 😭

What about controllable first because they can just use the autonomous options like sims characters do

I like focusing on fewer characters which is why personally i'd prefer non-controllable pets and roommates. Even if you do have the pets be controllable, i hope it isnt forced upon the player to HAVE to become the pet to do stuff. Like, they're doing their own stuff on their own and my character can take care of the pet without me having to control the pet. the autonomous roommates seem amazing tho! would be fun to have to deal with some quirky people without having to cause the quirkiness yourself lol

I like the idea of uncontrollable roommates, but I don’t like randomly-generated NPC’s... they tend to have annoying traits like slobs or they don’t get along with the household. I suppose that’s realistic but I’d like to be able to create characters to be roommates.

Kelsey Griffith

Je préfère des animaux autonomes. Concernant les coloc, ce serait super s'ils était eux aussi autonomes.

And I love the roommate idea, as long as it’s done properly and they’re not a nuisance ^^

Mette Askø Stark

I love the idea of non-controllable roommates! ☺️ and if I had to pick, I’d choose autonomous pets, but preferably I’d want to be able to turn it on/off!

Roommates that we cannot control would be great. It sounds like it would make for some funny moments sometimes too. Pets, autonomous all the way. Pets do their own thing, you’ve gotta train them to behave and become your loyal companion!

Nicholas Byrd

Roommates that are not controlled would be cool!

Alex would it be possible to have more than 8 para in a household??? My family all lives together and it really sucks when I have to split them up between houses

Chloe & Warren B

Both? ^^

DARUNNI

Love the idea of roommates

Cari

Non controllable pets in TS4 were so annoying to me. The best option is definitely to have both so the player can choose. But if they end up non controllable, I'll definitely wait for a mod.

Camille B.

I really like the autonomous roommate idea! It could make for an actual roommate play where you don't control the actions of your roommate like in real life. It could be a cool challenge to deal with them!

Marilee

Yes roommates non-controllable and the pets not controllable as well..

Rivers

I really love autonomous pets because it's a way of adding another family member without having to stress out about their needs. You just fill their bowl, cuddle them, exercise and take them on a walk and everything is sorted. I also love when they do things based on their traits like lie around on the couch all day or jump on the fridge and on cupboards and stuff

Zo

I'd prefer both but if we could only have one, I'd like them controllable! :)

Christine Harvey

A mix would be excellent. Some players don't like to micromanage every single character on the game. The idea of roommates is awesome. It gives us more opportunities in the game and make it more enjoyable

Juukaart

Uncontrolled roommates and uncontrolled pets would allow for more immersion in the game! Loving these updates.

Kieran Wade

Roommates I can't control would be awesome!

Liv

I prefer having the option for both! Since the community is split almost 50/50 on this issue, I think it makes a lot of sense. It would also help with troubleshooting if the pet is stuck or something, that you can just go into settings and enable controlling them.

Mette Askø Stark

I am a fan of both - I don't typically like to manage every aspect of a pet's actions, but there are definitely moments where being able to control them would be really nice. Also yes to roommates! That's a feature I've always wanted.

Sarah Bruce

It’d be really fun and funny to have roommates you can’t control. But I think there should be an option to control them too.

I think the uncontrolled roommate idea is awesome!! I’ve always wished that you could have unpredictable people in your household in sims

I would prefer autonomous pets with an insight into their needs. Also I love the aspects of Sims 4 pets where they need vet care or run away.

I would love to have roommates where I don’t have to control them!

Non-controllable roommates sounds awesome! Definitely would make for some varied storytelling since you aren't controlling both sides of the interactions between your Parafolk and the roommates. :)

hayden

Love the idea of having pets and roommates be autonomous, but it would require a great AI. I'd like the pets to act like pets and take care of their needs reasonably, and it would be great if roommates and other NPCs could initiate actions (ie marriage proposals, invitations out, etc).

Autonomous roommates and pets would be great!

the roommates idea is so great!

Cat Pence

I like the idea of noncontrollable roommates. It might be fun to look through roommate options and see qualities like “neat, can’t cook, sleep a lot” or “messy, lazy, great cook” or something and then have to deal with them just like in real life. That being said I would still personally prefer controlling the whole family if possible

Katie

I really like the roommates idea! It would be nice to have people to interact with, but with less pressure to control them. I definitely like the idea of a dual option for pets though!

kaaaaaj

And about the roommates I’d love it if they controlled themselves so it’s less micromanaging going on. Unless they’re family, like say I moved into a house with my best friend, I’d like for them to be able to do things on their own.

Michel

Love the idea of non controllable roomates ! Would be more realistic! And autonomous pets

A mix would be good, easy to manage needs that way but if you want the dog somewhere at a certain time then it would be nice to have some control. Roommates sounds like a great idea too. Not having to manage their needs at all but coexisting with them sounds nice.

Autonomous roommates sounds awesome!! I think it would allow for really fun gameplay!

i like the idea of them being mostly autonomous but also having the ability to make them perform certain things

katdiane

Autonomous pets are nice because it makes the “training” aspect seem like a genuine challenge - however I do agree see positives to both!! Non-controlled roommates would also be a really fun addition. Lots you could do with it. Thanks for the update!!

You should look into giving us the option of both. Some times I want to play them, sometimes I don’t. Being able to turn autonomy on and off is the best option, IMO

YES to autonomous pets if we still can see their stats etc. Also YES to roommates that I as a player don't have to control. It makes the game slightly unpredictable in a good way

Evelina Larsson

I like autonomous pets and roommates :)

I think non-controllable roommates is an excellent idea!

I definitely prefer the option to do both, I’d prefer my pets to be default autonomous so I don’t have to worry about controlling them, but if I ever want to it’s easy to do so!😁

LaurenCheerio

I personally Would prefer autonomous pets and 100% yes to autonomous roommates LOL

Shelby G.

Controllable but with high free will/AI to take care of themselves so you dont HAVE to control them?

I enjoy to micromanage so

1luckydandelion

Having noncontrolable roommates would be great!

Roommates would be cool

HaHaHoneyBee

What if you have the option to pick whether the pet was autonomous or not in PAM?

Option to turn on and off?

Love the idea of autonomous roommates! It's something I've always wanted from the sims games but they never quite delivered.

Queen Alyssa

I like the idea of noncontrollable roommates

Maybe a mix of both? It’s not fun to say “okay dog go eat again” but it IS fun to say “okay dog go snuggle on the couch”

Anthony
