Touko's always been a talented fire hunter I think. Even at that fight near the shore, she killed one of those flame beasts instinctively to the surprise of Akira. Her kind nature held her back. Malformed Children probably refers to all of them. Touko's a genius fire hunter with a kind heart, Kun is a spider outcast, Hinako is a rare infected survivor of the fiend fire (Koushi's mom died to this), Koushi is a genius inventor and then there's the rich lady who's not deceptive.
