Winter Bulk: Week 5

Man do I love the holiday season. Every bakery on every street is working in overdrive causing delicious smells to flow throughout the community. All the fast food and fast casual restaurants have new specialty items, usually something baked or a sweet creamy new shake or frapp. And best of all, it’s totally acceptable to indulge in all these treats that are offered at every corner. 

People complain about stores pushing the holidays too early in the year and that everything is too commercial, blah blah. I for one have no problem with these things! Who doesn’t want to be a greedy consumer from time to time? Might as well treat yourself and feel good especially when so many other things about the world totally suck. 

Obviously I for one am wasting no time in loading up the tank with all the delectable offerings this time of year brings. On top of my usual protein shakes I’ve been drinking trenta sized frappuccinos from Starbucks most days usually with a pastry or two. Sometimes I’ll hit up Dunkin’ instead and get a half dozen donuts. This has been a great way to stay full in between meals and it’s truthfully so enjoyable. 

My capacity is definitely increasing every day and now that I’m counting calories I can attest that I’m eating more than ever before. My meal portions are growing in size and I’m increasingly ordering appetizers and deserts when I eat out. This can get expensive though, so I have been trying to cook at home more often. Not only is it cheaper but I can also whip up ungodly family sized portions and consume it all myself. 

Strangely, I’ve only gained 2 pounds since last week. This seems like a low number considering how much I’ve been packing away along with my impressive gains the last two weeks, but I’m not worrying too much. Some weeks will be slower than others on the scale, that’s just the way it is. Regardless, I am confident in the momentum I have going. As each week passes I can sense the subtle changes in my body and my clothes growing tighter. 

I’m back on my gym routine too, lifting more than ever before. However, I’m starting to notice that my upper half is growing at a more rapid pace than my lower half. Part of this just has to do with how men tend to gain fat in the upper body, which I’m okay with. Still, I want my glutes and legs to be popping too. I want a look of overall mass, not the meatball on two toothpick legs sorta look. Girth all around- that’s the goal here.
