"Surreal Landscapes" 06 (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Happy summer!

I am very excited and extremely exhausted! We just moved to a new country/house and I still waiting for my workstation. It is so difficult to do all this process from country to country but slowly things start to pick up.
Apologies for being a little disconnected in the last few months. Preparation and everything was a lot for me on top of client work and patreon. But we are back in track with a lot of stuff that cannot wait to share!

In this continuation of "Surreal Landscape" series, I am gonna show you growth techniques and demystify as much as possible the reaction-diffusion algorithm and how to art direct it in Cinema4D. Audio might be a little shitty cause of empty room and cheap mic but my gear is coming up very soon so next week we will be fully back in business.

Let me know if any questions below! Thanks so much for the support once again, your kind words and comments keep me going.

T.

mmm i dont have the same issue. In which case is not working? animated?fields? what type of projection?

Thanos Kagkalos

In version 2025.1.3, the Displacer doesn’t work with Fields. When I use it inside a Connect object, it works—but the edges start jittering

Amin Kasraian

yes it works like a Y projection, so u can have a low poly vm driving a high amount of clones. I m not sure, different type of smoothing and in some cases one works better than the other. Delta mush averages points "better" in deforming geometry i think as its primary use is for character when using pose morph

Thanos Kagkalos

Loving this stuff! Couple of questions: In your logitech example the clones were not on a flat plane but on the displaced surface so I'm assuming your clones or ropes were created on this displaced surface but the triggering vertex map can be a flat plane correct? Because it is a completely different geometry. Second question: what is the main difference between delta mush and smoothing deformer?

Jesus Suarez

rock on! happy fiddling

Thanos Kagkalos

All working now, thanks legend!

David Hansel

probably you need to disable in the vertex map "use deformed points"

Thanos Kagkalos

When I drop the vertex map into the displacement field it does not work at all, but if I build the freeze, sphere etc straight into the displacement field it works fine, do you know why this could be?

David Hansel

thanks buddy! I think i will revise older tuts also with new approaches so they are up to date. Glad u find it useful!

Thanos Kagkalos

I know youve shown this before with the procedural knitting tutorial, but appreciate that you took it a step further with the theory and a new way to approach it. This is very useful for me in the medical animation field. As always, youre the best man - hope the rest of the move goes smoothly and very excited to see all this stuff you say you have in store for us (including particles wink wink)!

Adam Zunder

cheers bro!!! will call u soon!

Thanos Kagkalos

Nice tricks with vertex map bro! Love it!

Mikhail

thanks a lot for the support!

Thanos Kagkalos

Thank you very much for sharing your invaluable expertise. I am truly grateful! I hope you are settling in well.
