C4D cloth 2023 partF (VIDEO TUTORIALS)

Comments

They better be doing that haha yeah i been also giving a lot of feedback to them over the years and tons of bug reports. Glad to hear ur noticing a difference!

Thanos Kagkalos

going back through a few of these older tuts as refreshers with 2025 and noticing that a lot of the softbody issues aren't prevalent anymore. Seems like Maxon is fixing some of these things over the past few updates.

Brandon Smith

Hi, either colliders missing vertices (as this is a point to point collision) or you are forcing sphere to follow position so much so it penetrates. Lastly it could be that you start animation with wrong collisions. If u follow tutorial steps u wont run into these issues :)

Thanos Kagkalos

Hi Thanos! Idk why but when I have that animated sphere even tho I have my colliders both from top and bottom my animated sphere just gets out of that collider. Tried tunning off gravity but then the sphere just gets over hat top collider.

Shriyash Borhade

probably some shader like wireframe?unsure where that is in octane though never used it!

Thanos Kagkalos

How do I make that planes as wireframe and keep the rest as it is?

Shriyash Borhade

cheers bud!

Thanos Kagkalos

Real nice one Thank you

Erwin Kunz

hey yes! I will when i get a moment :)

Thanos Kagkalos

Hey bud sorry missed ur comment. In my latest tut i explain in detail. Cheers

Thanos Kagkalos

Hello, will you share the projec file please ! i´m very close to complete it.

Allen Rojas Méndez

Hello and thank you for this amazing tutorial! Is there a way that you can explain me the way how you create your Materials? That would be great.

Cnusper

not really, I played with the settings. It came out OK eventually but I had to change some stuff from what Thanos had in the tut. It does seem to sim differently on an M1. Not 100% sure but it appears so.

Michael

Hi Michael, did you manage to solve it? i'm having the same trust problem

Anderson andhe

Solved, it was my C4d version

Anderson andhe

Hello, sorry I dont understand what is the problem. If u following what I do in tut, u should have same behaviors.

Thanos Kagkalos

Hello, when active with force and left the sphere at 1 they collide and it is strange, when I left it at 0 it is normal, in your video the map scale is disabled mine is 100%. I am not able to resolve.

Anderson andhe

yes u need to change the projection type to something other than uv if i understood correctly

Thanos Kagkalos

When you apply a gradient material to a sphere in Octane, the material is separated for each axis. Do you know how to fix it?

엉 저어어어어

thanks buddy! glad u find it useful!

Thanos Kagkalos

This will be so great for some of my medical animations. Awesome as alwayThanos :)

Adam Zunder

yes i need to update project files when i get a moment

Thanos Kagkalos

cheers mate

Thanos Kagkalos

Thank you Thanos for your teachings and knowledge. Brilliant

Anthony Serraino

Oh will you share the project file of this sim later as well?

Michael

I am on 2023.1.3. which should be the latest one... hm. I will redo this on the PC and see if this changes anything.

Michael

although m1 shouldnt have any difference in cloth sims. C4d version has major difference though.

Thanos Kagkalos

I am on an M1 mac, so this might cause some issues. Need to try this again on my PC. I did follow your values but it comes out very differently. I will keep playing with it, not a problem.

Michael

hey bud if u follow what i do in the tut u should have similar results and u should be using similar values in forces etc As I cant debug simulations, make sure ur in same c4d version for starters

Thanos Kagkalos

I am having issues with the align to spline thing, where the ball that is following it has a huge amount of lag. Unless I add a higher value to mix animation it lags behind the position it should be and just either doesnt go through or just slops out at the side. Once I increase the force it goes through and follows OK, but when cached it all plays too fast. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong here?

Michael

Haa no I didn't know!! I will try it and hopefully will work hehe, I will let you know if it works. Thank you so much for always answering so quickly man.

Kousha Motamedi

yea maybe shouldnt be an issue. But yes, try 516 driver (is the one i use and i have 3090) and i have no problems. Also make sure ur in latest 2023.1.3 c4d. Clear also the c4d prefs and delete ur start scene. Do u know how to clear c4d prefs? Either do what he is doing (move temporarily this folder to ur desktop) or just delete the "prefs" folder in there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgYNAwwLikY&ab_channel=KieranWood

Thanos Kagkalos

I'm on 528.49 studio driver which I think is the latest one? Do u mean to switch back to 516? Also, I use octane 2022.1 R5 which works perfectly.

Kousha Motamedi

can u try one last thing? install 516.94 studio driver. Use clean install. If u are on RS for some reason with these very old drivers, that might be an issue.

Thanos Kagkalos

Yup! the thing is that It works with the CPU dynamics, as soon as I switch to GPU it crashes.

Kousha Motamedi

hey bud. Mmm did u try with a fresh scene and a single plane? if yes and still crash, then try to clear ur prefs/ur start scene and try again. If still have this issue, then u need to email maxon.

Thanos Kagkalos

Hey Thanos, I have an issue with my c4d 2023 cloth and soft body system where when I use the tag and hit the play button my viewport freezes immediately, every time, even with the simplest geo. Sometimes it gives the error collision limit exceeded. I'm pretty sure there is smth wrong on my side but I could not figure it out, I use a 3090 for my GPU as well. Do u happen to know how can I fix it by any chance?

Kousha Motamedi

nooo i didnt send any virus haha have fun mate!

Thanos Kagkalos

It was an overzealous virus protector - BitDefender, just in case anyone else ever has the same issue.

Ed Fergusson

Yes, unfortunately that is on ur end. I d suggest to clear ur cache/cookies/try another window in chrome etc. Sometimes people have these messages with vimeo is a bit annoying, sorry about that.

Thanos Kagkalos

Am I the only one getting "Because of it's privacy settings, this video cannot be played here"? I mean, obviously, because you've all watched it. Shit.

Ed Fergusson

thanks broo

Thanos Kagkalos

Top Nocth bro!

Mikhail

hahah im an idiot right? cheers

Thanos Kagkalos

The bubbly bubbles inside the bubbles look awesome. Thanks for the breakdown as usual. Love it!

MUHAMMAD TABISH

haha thanks a lot buddy!!! So glad you enjoy it so far

Thanos Kagkalos

Thanos, I hope you're making good money doing this Patreon because you're an excellent natural teacher. I feel really confidnent I'll be able to include 3D in my client workflow because of your insights and problem solving skills.

James Rockwell

Balance all ur forces/substeps. Might be ur follow force is too high from substeps being too low If u watch the whole tut, see how i play with all the settings to get an intuition of whats going on. Sims are way more than a floating cloth with turbulence and now with these tools to our disposal we need to understand how every setting balances vs another.

Thanos Kagkalos

My Spheres really want to break through the upper Plain, any advise?

Benjamin Parker

thank you!

Thanos Kagkalos

Awesome tutorial Thanos, thanks a lot!

Edgar Ferrer

thanks a lot for supporting me!!

Thanos Kagkalos

Amazing, thank you for showing the way and all the great techniques! :D

Hoi

thank you very kind!

Thanos Kagkalos

That is soo cool looking! Your execution is much nicer than the original inspiration!

Jamie

cheers bud!

Thanos Kagkalos

Thia looks amazing!
