Xp Hair part1 (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Summer is upon us!
Take a break and try follow through the trial and errors I am put through this tutorial series. It was probably the toughest tut that I ve done, not cause its something special but due to the fact that xp are so damn buggy with dynamics. We need to be aware so many things that dont make sense and this takes away a lot of the fun and the creative process.

In any case, I hope you enjoy this one and hit me up with any questions you may have!
Cheers!

where can I find the rest of the parts?

I see many times you use the "n-Side" to create simple parametric lines. Why don't you use the Helix instead? That's what I see other ppl using to create lines in C4D

Andrea

Great insight :-)

Graham Bucknell

Oh yeah... I don’t know the difference I just know it exists! Lol

Lukasz Pason

Heya many thanks! yea i been using xpjoin recently! he mentioned to me once the difference with connect but i keep forgetting it haha

Thanos Kagkalos

Thanks so much for going over how it functions vs creating a particular look. The way it all processes is so much more important because you can apply it to your own ideas vs just re-creating what you make. Also, do you know about xpJoin? Its XPs version of the connect object. =) Jon Bosley pointed me to it.

Hopefully scene nodes will go backend eventually and start x20 c4d performance in object manager :)

Thanos Kagkalos

Hopefully this technique can be achieved at a future point using scene nodes. Great job getting to working in XP :-)

Cache in this case is not related if its on memory or disc. Both should work, always. If u do internal memory u just need to save ur file and cache is there. Unfortunately in this case, not only it doesnt reload, it also breaks ur simulation while u are still at it. Its a specific bug when it comes to xp dynamics. Ha, well im in no shape to start sharing H stuff just yet, but i feel in sometime i ll be more confident :) Its on my mind though!

Thanos Kagkalos

When I make a XP Cache I save external to a location on my disc and not internal memory. Then my understanding is, it works if I reopen the file. Is that not the case? I know you complained about this problem before in other tutorials. This video is very concise and I really get the amount of problem solving you went through behind the scenes. It would be fantastic learning Houdini from your perspective. I hope you can do some videos here at some point, no pressure! 😄

James Shannon

just finished. this was so helpful!!

Thanos Kagkalos

thanks a lot buddy!

Helal

Great tutorial, really appreciate you going through the bugs and fixes - I find that's a big part of anything I experiment with in XP 😅

Jamie

Np! I didnt realise it was probably always there!

Thanos Kagkalos

thanks for the speed playback option :)

sigor

I was sooo waiting for it. Thanks Thanos!
