XP softbodies_B (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hello!

Here is my new tutorial for December! Lots of stuff here, I decided to merge two more lengthy tuts into a single shorter one.
Let me know ur thoughts as usual :) I will try to make a livestreaming soon before we shut down for vacations and then get back on track again.

Cheers!

Not sure what you are trying to achieve. Just keep in mind (dont remember if its on this video but I try to point it out many times with xp) cache and cloth/softbody things are kinda finicky/glitchy :)

Thanos Kagkalos

very odd as soon as I tried using a custom object instead of primitives the xp cache suddenly makes them all disappear except one

Jason James

Heya yes. Its a sweep with an n side as a profile

Thanos Kagkalos

Hi Thanos! How do you create those straight line splines at 35:33 by sweeping two n-sides?

Justin Bogart

thanks for the support buddy! Damn i have the same problem with 2080tis here they are extremely noisy u probably hear em as I m recording. And my mic is a yeti (lol) which cancels all noise on the sides and still are audible!! I tried to do custom waterloop after the fact, but they are rev.2 or something and the guy couldnt find a kit to install. So idk what to do, but definitely next time i get such high end cards for WS i ll go water

Hey Thanos, I'm back on your Patreon to learn some more XP. This was really great to watch, also learning the best ways to combine everything with Octane. I really feel for you when your fans go nuts. I upgraded my GPU to a 3090 and things are much more quieter. It also seems a lot more stable and has never gone above 65c. But then I only use a single GPU.. With my previous 2080ti the noise was really irritating to work with, hit 80c sometimes, but my dogs loved sleeping next to the computer as it was like a open fire place. 😆 Happy new year to you! Can't wait to see the amazing work you will do this year. 🙂

James Shannon

Heya, with a random effector affecting color. Then u assign this info to octane via an mgcolor node

Thanos Kagkalos

This is so helpful, thank you! When using the cloner method instead of Alembic, how do you apply random shading to the torus inside the cloner? I noticed in your original render you used a couple different materials (at least I think you did).

Brandon

Hey bud i kinda missed ur comment! I think with this method no since these are not "real" cloth etc. I managed to do with another method and "xp pin" i will do a small tut about it soon!

Thanos Kagkalos

great tut! is there another way to pin certain points other than the freeze? thanks!

Dan

this mixtape is FIRE!

Nick Ito

Knowledge bomb! Paused on Fluidfx to say this! haha

Nick Ito

Good to know! cheers

Thanos Kagkalos

Man!!!! this sped up my sim time a lot. Thank you so much!

Matthew Hafez

Thanks bro!! I think ur tricks are beter heh. Testing em as we speak!!

Thanos Kagkalos

Great tips bro. Really cool trick with xpfluids.

Mikhail

Same here, plus.. this cache needs FIX!!!

Thanos Kagkalos

great stuff, definitely have to try some of these techniques out! just wish XP would utilize all the core more efficiently.

Hoi

Simple thing but can get a long way if ur in the mood for experimentation :)

Thanos Kagkalos

Man that’s pretty slick!!! Can’t wait to try this 🤘🤘
