Happy November to everyone!  Lets talk about the setup of the closeup shots.
Kept short this one and hopefully you will find it useful!

Cheers!

Knitting Setups / Closeups (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

I know its so annoying there are so many people using my project files and do youtube tutorials.. There are so many ways to do knitting but doing it exactly like this and being an x patron haha it is what it is i guess. Octane hair do not have cap afaik, no. U need a sweep for that

Thanos Kagkalos

Couldn't help but think that I saw a tutorial on Youtube recently with almost this precise technique haha or it might've been the one above this. Anyway, I wanted to ask (you may have answered this somewhere already) is there a way to put a cap on the splines through the octane object tag or does it need to be fed into a sweep in order to do that?

Brandon Figueroa

hey bud. Cant think of anything other than the way c4d interprets splines. Make sure both are editable and try to follow the tut step by step or check the project file. Maybe u missed something

Hey Thanos! I'm having a bit of trouble once I blend my splines together in the cloner. The blend between the 1st and 2nd spline is super jagged and ugly. I've tried adjusting the point order, made sure number of points is the same, moved point positions, and still nothing fixes the jaggedness. Any tips you might be able to offer? Thanks for the info as always!!

I got more knitting coming i think :) exploring new techniques again

This save me on a job, next beer on me when you come to Brazil :D Thanks dude!

ok well I got around it by manually fixing the order of the points, with the help of the Structure editor so I could see what was going on: selecting half of them, reverse order, select other half, reverse order, delete the one overlapping point, joining segment... seems to work

I'm having an absolutely terrible time trying to create the 5 splines that the cloner morphs between - I created the splines in Symmetry and the result when I make editable is that the sequence of the points is not correct, and when I use the tracer and sweep it meshes the spline incorrectly, connecting the middle points of the spline in an undesirable way... how did you create the splines? Is there a way to get the points in the correct order after converting from Symmetry?

Dark Arps

Hey Luca! Thanks for the comment. Well u can with xpresso which is not my area of expertise :) But again they are not gonna be dynamics, just very precise keyframe animation triggered via xpresso! For dynamic threads, i would consider soft bodies, but i imagine it would be a bit painful to drive everything as u want. If u find another technique feel free to share! Cheers!

thanks for this :) could you think about a way to avoid intersections of the knitting tiles? keep it up, its very helpful :)
