It's been interesting seeing the response to 8x16, but since the response has been particularly intense this is a disclaimer of sorts to say that I'm enjoying how the show is playing out and reserving judgment for how well/poorly they cover the ensemble until the season is over. If you're looking for some validating anger about it all, this may not be the reaction for you (even though I obviously support feeling your feelings).
**I highly recommend watching the introduction at the beginning of 8x12 so you know how this reaction series is gonna work, but yes I'm officially here from now on in case...something...should happen...

I’m sooo happy that you started to watch 9-1-1. Your commentary is always very deliberate, insightful and objective. Alone the fact that you, as someone who roots for Buddie, said that you hadn’t had big problems with Tommy and Buck, was very refreshing, especially in a very passionate fandom when it comes to the relationships. However I’m a little bit sad that you only started reaction from 8x12 onward. I would have enjoyed your input regarding some Buddie moments in the first part of season 8. Anyway I’m looking forward to watching season 9 with you.🥰

2025-05-17 01:58:21 +0000 UTCGlad to hear you will be back for season 9! I liked the finale, I have definitely issues with it. But the building collapse was fun for the most part. I agree on shipping Donny and Graham, that has potential. And personally I see Graham as "Athena´s Buck" now. Bobby had his reckless self sacrificing adoptive son in Buck and now Athena has kind of her own. I´ve seen they cut Athena visiting Graham in the hospital and I would have loved to see that. In terms of Buddie, I wish we would have gotten a little bit more than that one look. But I have a feeling its still planned and pushed back to season 9. There was just so much build up in this season without really resolving it. Also prior to the finale they gave Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman SO MANY INTERVIEWS! They interviewed each other, they read thirst tweets together. It absolutely felt like it was building up to something, just for nothing to happen. Either it is really aggressive queerbaiting, or it got pushed back. And I hope its the latter. And while the emergency was fun, the pacing was kinda bad. Like they threw so much character stuff in the last 5 minutes of the episode instead of properly showing stuff. Like the adoption, Buck moving out, Athena selling the house. Some of this stuff needed actual scenes instead of a quick montage. Like... Athena JUST said last episode she won´t sell the house, and now she is fine with it? I guess she is meant to be "moving on" from Bobby´s death, but I don´t like that choice. Also don´t like Buck moving out of Eddie´s house, but there I have still some hope they will turn around in season 9 with him moving back in eventually. At least they showed him not finding a good place yet, so they could use that to show him subconsciously wanting to be in Eddie´s house instead. And I´m still in denial about Bobby. I would have just preferred it so much if they just made him retire instead. And once again they paralleled Graham not saying anything and sacrificing himself with Bobby´s death. But Graham survived. But Bobby allegedly didn´t? It just feels like the writing is hinting at Bobby being alive while saying the opposite.

2025-05-12 00:46:08 +0000 UTCI still very much hate this storyline. Because it is just SO unnecessary. Peter Krause didn´t want to leave, none of the actors wanted a major character death. And they could have easily have Bobby retire and basically have the same situation, with someone having to step up as the new captain. Angela and Kenny´s acting was phenomenal, but I still hate this whole thing. I think also the funeral itself and the "farewell" to Bobby took too much of a backseat compared to the focus on the grieving mother. Also, still absolutely not convinced Bobby is actually dead. And if they pull the "he is alive afterall" then that storyline will feel even more dumb, since it wasted so much time, which we could have used to deal with Eddie´s storyline that is STILL not resolved after almost an entire season. Like.... we have a storyline with an empty casket and potentially someone not actually being dead in the same episode we bury Bobby? I know they said the kid is not actually her dead son, but it still feels weird!

If you want media to cater to your likes 100% of the time, you pretty much have to make it yourself. I really enjoyed your reaction to 8x15 and 8x16, I feel like we are watching the show through a similar lens and I find it reassuring that I'm not alone in seeing the potential with this storyline. Really looking forward to the last episodes of s8!!!

2025-05-05 04:01:31 +0000 UTCI´ll take this episode as an excuse to vent about how much I HATE Tommy with a passion. I just need this character to be permanently gone already! He and Buck just have no chemistry whatsoever and aren´t compatible, and he is kinda a shitty partner. And that´s not even getting into the racism and homophobia he displayed in early seasons... That was never properly dealt with in my opinion so I just can´t get on board with him as a character, and I´m just annoyed that he is still around. God please don´t let them get together again

Personally I firmly believe this will be a fakeout death and by the end of episode 16 they will reveal he survived. There is also some foreshadowing in early season 8 with the HotShots plot and Brad and them talking about killing the captain in the TV show, and in the end he "miraculously woke up from a coma" instead of dying.

Like you said it's a network show so the mains are never in any real danger. It will be very interesting to see what they do going forward. Poor Eddie getting that call though......

2025-04-19 22:31:01 +0000 UTCHonestly I didn't expect to get back into 9-1-1 for this to happen but thinking about it they kind of foreshadowed it the episode before when Bobby saved the baby. Bobby was always going to be that guy. I do think it will be interesting to see how Buck after 8 years of Bobby's care copes with this trauma compared to how early series Buck would have. It might be the moment he matures and begins the path to inherit the mantle one day- it could go in a completely different direction. I love Bobby and I don't want him to be gone but I can acknowledge that if handled well, this is a heck of a way to throw everything in the air and give new story energy to the show- I just hope the writing follows through so the audience stays because it's a real risk with such a beloved character and man, it's Bobby.

And it´s way too much to ask for but I NEED Eddie teaching Buck (ideally for their wedding) it would be just.... so SO good! Oh and yeah, they are 100% going to be living together when Eddie and Chris come back, Buck dropped his old apartment so he can´t just go back and he is not going to find something else immediately. And then that situation can just... become permanent.

I saw your live-blogging posts on Tumblr and wondered if you would be putting the show on here as well :) Buddie as a ship was unfortunately ruined for me because of vitriolic and harmful behaviour within the fandom since Tommy was reintroduced nearly a year ago, but I can certainly see the appeal of Buddie from the perspective of someone who is not deep in the 911 fandom and was not present for everything that has happened with that. With that said, I am always happy to see people enjoying this show, and I am glad so many people have gotten more interested in it since bi Buck became canon. I hope you continue to take joy in it for the rest of the season and beyond! ⭐️

They are the classic will they won’t they pair, except queer, and now we seem to be seeing the work put in coming to fruition. I for one can’t wait. If it doesn’t go where it seems to be going, someone has truly messed up.
