However, I'd be sorely remiss if I didn't make sure to watch the couple of long series we've all been looking forward to for...like a year or more at this point? They've always made a consistent showing in the polls and it's about damn time they get a turn.
There's also a recent series I dabbled in, thinking it wouldn't knock me over hard enough to add to my Long Series Problem. Well. Here I am. Knocked over. Dammit.
Anyway, which one are we watching next?

The way FOF and Spirealm were at any given time only 1-2 percent ahead of the other was interesting to follow😂 I don’t think anyone could predict who was going to win.

When today's call for voting came on discord, FoF was leading, then I looked again after a while and Spirealm was in the lead by 2% and now we are here with FoF in the lead yet again. This is madness. I refuse to look until the final announcement of the winner. I can't function like this :D

It was all over my Twitter when it was coming out, so I took it as a sure thing (but people were probably mostly referring to this one thread or the Weibo post) and I haven't watched it yet, so I just saved that thread as something good to know about if I will watch it in future.

2025-01-17 13:22:44 +0000 UTCI'm reading it right now (I'm about halfway) and the adaptation is kind of faithful (so many references and nods to the original novel) and yet completely different (I do understand the need for those changes though). So far there was only one "story" that wasn't covered on the show (understandable, they can't cover everything). The novel is better in explaining some things that were just glossed over in the show and it has way more gore (and gay of course). But I prefer the stories in the show more (it's the solving versus just passing through type of approach to the doors). I would say that only about 10% was a new information for me, the rest was on the show. I was trying to be as vague as possible to avoid spoiling anything.

Both have had me crying, laughing and more or less screaming and squealing too, given me new blorbos to fixate on and yeah. Had to go with FoF because it has made me slightly more unwell, but honestly Im happy either way. (Havent yet gotten into Ultimate Note yet, tho its been on my list as well and have heard good things about it too.)

I watched the first 2 episodes in the Watch Party and I watched them again with Brittany and I would watch those same 2 episodes again! I watched four or five episodes of Spirealm (they were weirdly cut) and it seems fine but I am not hyped, though other people seem to be so maybe the series gets way better. I just watched like the first ac, so what do I know. I personally am just more interested in Fangs of Fortune but whatever you do....if its a long series again, I watch whatever it will be and I hope what will be chosen wont dissapoint you. Because I love the old long format shows. I get that they are a hassle to go through and sadly a lot of promising Priest series seem to have been cancelled for 2025 due to more cencorship. Fuck that. I am still mad about Justice in the Dark aka Silent Reading. The book is amazing and the show seemed to have captured the book very well....apart from the weird name changes for no reason. It would have been so amazing.

2025-01-16 22:31:28 +0000 UTCUltimate Note - based on the middle part of a long IP series called The Lost Tombs. It's crunchy and compact but might be off putting for people who want the full story. That being said it's a good place to start considering. The Spirealm - based off a Horror BL novel they replaced the Horror element with game elements but the vibe is very much there. Also they did cut out some of the book arcs due to length but it's still pretty dang good. Fangs of Fortune - while I haven't watched more then two eps it's still very pretty.

2025-01-16 21:04:34 +0000 UTCmy sister and i have been waiting for you to react to "ultimate note" and we hope that you will watch it one day! we are still obsessed with this universe even years after watching it. it is based on a book series (which where originally fanfiction btw) and the author didn't intend the "bromance" to be this strong but he agreed with fans that it was definitely there. also fun fact joseph zheng (aka zheng shunxi), who played fang duobing in "mysterious lotus casebook" plays one of the main characters in this.
