Pretty Boy + Vacation Update 12/27
Added 2024-12-27 22:59:15 +0000 UTCHi guys. After taking Pretty Boy to another couple of vet visits, he's been diagnosed with a Mast Cell tumor on his back left leg. Our vet (who is wonderful) recommended the leg be amputated, but first Pretty Boy needs an ultrasound to determine if the cancer has spread to any organs--which would render an amputation unhelpful. This means we're at a point where amputation would be the good news.
He got the ultrasound today, along with a sample from another spot on his leg sent to a lab to see if the cancer is spreading along his skin, and we should have the results next week. The rest of his vet funds have been used, and depending on what happens in the next steps we will almost certainly need to ask for help. Those details will come once we have all the information at our disposal.
Given how this "time off" has gone so far, I may need to take an extra week depending on how a lot of things play out. The Wife and I are doing the best we can but, like any pet parents, we're on pins and needles until we get the full results while we grapple with this initial diagnosis.

2024-12-28 17:12:07 +0000 UTCFingers crossed for Pretty Boy. FWIW, cats do very well as tripods and the back leg is easier for them than the front. I have an 18yo tripod kitty, who galumphs around the house with ease. So don't let that prospect distress you.

2024-12-28 00:21:11 +0000 UTCOur cat Ave, he was 14 when he needed to have his front paw taken. As it was his front he could still run. He would limp more to get attention. I don't think the drunk ever got over seeing a large dog being chased my a three legged cat.
