Both shows are relate to mystery solving. The former is a cute story, the main casts fit the original story PERFECTLY! We are finally (sadly) at the end! \^-^/ I have so many feelings about how the show ended, mainly about there is a part of me that just wants those three happy and alive, but there is also the part of me that deeply understands where Li Lianhua is coming from, that he is just so very tired he was probably constantly in pain and chances are that even if the flower could have got rid of the poison, his body might still keep the damage its already done but at the same time i am glad they left it somewhat open and didn't give us the book ending SPOILERS for BOOK-> I don't know much about it, as it hasn't been translated yet, but in the book Li Lianhua apparently somehow survives and they find him like after a few years near were the battle was supposed to happen, he is blind, cant use one of his hands and apparently without memmories, but supposedly happy - tho the novel itself is quite different to the drama, as for example Shan Gudao was not a big villain, the cases were partly more brutal etc. and it was not the bicha poison that caused Li Lianhuas troubles SPOILERS for BOOK END I am so happy to see that you enjoyed the show us much us we did! And also glad to see that the Hello Saturday videos did do exactly as i intended - round it out with happiness (bc god i personally cried for at least two hours when i first watched it)

I die laughing every time I watch any Hello Saturday episode with Cheng Yi in it. There's an earlier episode where he is fully living on the struggle bus while playing charades that makes me cry actual tears. Hello Saturday is so much fun, but I was so sad that my favorite Hello Saturday host, Tan Jianci was away filming and wasn't there for this episode - I would've loved to see your reaction to his absolutely lethal face card. Also, here's something that's absolutely fucking hilarious. In the part where Cheng Yi calls his friend Cai Wenjing and she was like "Did you top up your phone credit?", the little cutout is to an earlier episode where she was the one who had to make a phone call, and she called Cheng Yi but was like "What if he doesn't pick up because he's out of phone credits?" SO clearly there's just periods of time where Cheng Yi doesn't pay his phone bill and is completely unreachable LOL. I think in the same episode she shares a story about how he just doesn't pay his phone bill and then asks to bum wifi from all his costars HAHA. Love a chronically offline king.

I love Cheng Yi. He seems like such a genuinely sweet and humble person after all he's been through to get to where he is now. And I would agree with you about him being the type of person who's always prepared. He seems to take his acting very intensely so when he's on the spot and not in character, he's like a lost puppy LOL I see he doesnt do a lot of these sorts of shows probably because of this kind of thinking. He's also got like 7 shows in production so he's probably tired as well and cant focus on the super fast talking hosts LOL

Episode 39: BTS 1) in the fight with Shan Gudao, the scratch on Li Lianhua's face is real. BTS 2) Cheng Yi was so enthusiastic with his stunts that he tore the underarm of his robes while filming.

Ep 39 - SGD, Feng Qing, and the Nanyin forces prepare for their sacrifice ceremony and to use the Karmic Bugs to control everyone. - FDB and co arrive to stop them, rescuing the princess and Lord Fang - FDB gets the bug and plans to find the mother bug while mama and the others take care of everyone else - Feng Qing runs to warn SGD, but he doesn’t seem concerned - Battle Husbands!!! LLH and DFS are attacking from a different angle. LLH leaves DFS to take care of the bulk so he can go straight to SGD - LLH tells SGD the tides have turned bcuz FDB is currently finding/destroying the mother bug - FDB finds where the mother bug is being protected and will have to go up against the Three Sages - with his new skills he’s holding his own - we finally get to see QWM kick ass!!! And its to protect the princess - back to LLH: - he vows to “cleanse the sect” - Demon Monk and Feng Qing attack first, but DFS shows up and protects his man!! - (he says “You will NOT interfere with my husband’s revenge”) - (LLH called him A’FEI in front of SGD!!! He only ever called him that before when it was to hide DFS’s identity!) - LLH takes on SGD while DFS takes on the two cronies - LLH says that he has 20-30% during this fight. Considering he started the series with 10% and it’s been steadily diminishing since ep 13 (when he had to save FDB from the Gang Qi) how did he suddenly end up with more??? (might have something to do with the night he and DFS spent in the newlywed chamber, maybe? Dual cultivation maybe?? wink wink nudge nudge) - mid fight the bicha starts attacking him again - FDB defeats the the Three Sages and gets the mother bug - the mother bug was created with blood from Consort Xuan so it’ll take one of her descendants to destroy the bug - once the mother bug is destroyed the child bugs are no longer a threat ie: the controlled people are no longer controlled - FDB uses a drop of his blood on the mother bug but nothing happens?? - back to the boss fight: - DFS is just playing with the other two. There’s multiple times he could have used a killing blow and doesn’t (after all – for Plot Reasons – he can’t finish his fight before LLH finishes his) - LLH and SGD go hand-to-hand. LLH uses his speed to avoid a bunch of tiny daggers and then defeats SGD - DFS strangles Demon Monk and incapacitates Feng Qing, and finds the Styx Flower in a compartment in the chair!! - LLH reveals he defeated SGD with beginner sword forms, SGD calls for XYX, FDB arrives with the mother bug - they try to use SGD’s blood to kill the mother bug… but nothing happens again??!? - Madam Qin arrives, takes the bug, pricks LLH’s finger and the bug is destroyed! Huzzah! - …but wait – WHAT?!!?!! - … so it turns out LLH is the real descendant of both the Nanyin and Imperial families - also, ALSO!!! DFS’S FACE!!! It gets me every time! His “have I been fucking a princess?!” face make me cackle every time. (also YES baby. Your husband is royalty) - Madam Qin explains how everything got so mixed up - the shifu and LXY’s father were friends, the Li family got massacred, and only the two brothers survived (remember the flashback at the end of ep30?) - Li Xiangxian died on the streets and left the pendant and LXY in SGD’s care - SGD got sick and lost his memories, and then they were rescued from the street by the shifu - Feng Qing says that 20 years ago they were looking for a ten-year-old (LXY would have been 9 or 10, but SGD had the pendant so he probably thought the info was a few years out of date) - LLH destroys SGD’s martial arts, and then he spontaneously dies - the situation is resolved, tho FDB has some thinking to do. SGD was his father after all… (also, not mom and dad watching the disciple walk away.) - LLH is back at Lotus Tower when FDB arrives - FDB asks what LLH’s plans are and he says repairing his house - DFS arrives and asks what he plans to do after that. (he’s wearing his sect leader robes – this is an Official™ visit) - LLH says he just wants to relax (sunbathe and fish) - DFS gives him the Styx Flower and tells him to prepare for their rematch in half a month - DFS like “fighting is our form of foreplay. Now that we’re married we can do it openly” - DFS originally wanted the flower to reach the 8th level of his cultivation, but he did that back in the honeymoon suite so he doesn’t need the yang half anymore. (there’s also meta about how the yin leaves was a bluff) - DFS would like his husband to be cured and live please and thank you - (also: DON’T LEAVE!!! You need to stay and force it down his throat! Don’t just trust he’s going to take it willingly! Also you deserved more screen time, COME BACK!!!) - FDB planning to hold onto the flower until LLH is ready - (FDB saying he was right about DFS. Sweetie… you’ve been calling him evil the entire show, you were never right about him.) - Also DFS isn’t “giving up his dream” for LLH to live. DFS’s goals for the whole show have been: 1) free himself of the mind control and get revenge on Di Fortress [ep 34] 2) reach the 8th level of Windy Poplar [ep 38] 3) defeat “Li Xiangyi” in a fair fight (which he can’t do if LLH is still poisoned and dying!!! Also I’d like to point out that DFS said himself that he thought of fighting LXY again every day while healing in seclusion for ten years back in ep 8. And he thought LXY was dead the entire time he was thinking that! Not to mention his homoerotic grief-pining in ep 5) - LLH tries to warn him the flower only has a 30% chance of curing him, but his husband had a 10% chance of surviving just last episode and he was ok bcuz LLH helped him! - FDB starts making plans to drag LLH around for more cases (did LLH not just say all he wanted to do was sunbathe and go fishing? Am I the only one that heard that? Let the man retire in peace) - checking in on mama and Tianji Manor we find out that Lord Fang hasn’t been allowed to come home yet. LLH realizes there’s still some loose ends to tie up - FDB has to go give and explanation to the emperor. Bcuz he’s SGD’s son and the Fang family knew and SGD tried to overthrow him, that puts the entire Fang family on the potential chopping block - with LLH’s help he provides an explanation to quell the emperor’s anger - LLH speaks with the emperor alone, but we don’t know what they talked about - the emperor spares FDB and the Fang family and lets FDB continue to be a detective with an indefinite postponement of the marriage to the princess - bcuz LLH is the true heir of the lost royal bloodline that makes him a threat the emperor’s standing. WE know he doesn’t want it but the emperor has to treat him like an enemy. If he thinks LLH is dying then he doesn’t have to be worried. - (… but WHAT DID THEY TALK ABOUT???) - LLH says he still has some unfinished business at Sigu Sect to take care of before he gets cured Ep 40 - this sword dance…. I get SO MAD at him on every rewatch. And this is where I pretty much start crying and then don’t stop. Bcuz this whole sword dance is just the beginning of him saying goodbye. - He pictures DFS there! As if he’s fighting him! Bcuz he’s not! DFS isn’t there bcuz he’s trusting that LLH will use the cure and show up to the fight. He doesn’t know, and he’ll find out too late. - he also pictures his shifu there, reminding him to live a good life. Btw living a good life ≠ letting yourself die bcuz you think you deserve to - LLH dresses up in LXY’s sect leader robes (hey you know who would like to see him in that outfit? Maybe his husband?) - there’s a trial being held for Yun Biqiu. The crowd calls for his death - Shi shui tries to execute him but is stopped by LLH. Biqiu tries to kill himself and LLH stops him - LLH and FDB present evidence that Biqiu double crossed JLQ and did his best to make sure her plans failed - Biqiu is forgiven but he collapses bcuz he was poisoned - LLH cures him and is blind while they talk - LLH tells the story of how he survived and became LLH and tells Biqiu to live a good life. He lies to Biqiu about having a way to cure himself (hey LLH! Come over here for a sec. I just wanna talk to you about what an absolute hypocrite you are!!!) - LLH returns to Lotus Tower and collapses. FDB finds out the flower is gone, and was given to the emperor to cure his poisoning. FDB stays with him throughout the night to make sure he survives - LLH tries to give FDB a notebook of “recipes”. FDB paralyzes LLH and leaves to get Guan Hemeng - (YOU NEED TO STAY WITH HIM!!! OMG use a messenger bird! Send a letter to DFS! You can’t just leave this man alone!!!) - either FDB takes too long or LLH breaks free, but he leaves before they get back and he’s packed lightly (and he leaves Hulijing!!) - QWM leaves XZJ once and for all (HUZZAH!!!) - FDB and co get back to find him gone. - the notebook of "recipes” is actually a manual of LXY’s swordplay - Guan Hemeng thinks LLH will show up to the planned fight at the East Sea but FDB isn’t so sure - XZJ blames LLH and tracks him down. He challenges him to a fight to the death, but LLH breaks his sword and jumps off the cliff instead - (where was LLH meaning to go? He realized he was going the wrong way and was turning around before the asshole showed up) - FDB has been looking for LLH and listens to how storytellers in the street twist the narrative. Perhaps realizing this is what LLH has wanted to escape all along - DFS and a crowd wait on the beach for LLH - (hey FDB. You told him right? Right?? You told DFS that LLH might not show up right? You mentioned that he gave away the cure and disappeared, RIGHT?!) - a messenger arrives with a letter for DFS. It’s Li Xiangyi’s Last Regards. - (…so you didn’t tell him. And now my man is heartbroken and barely holding himself together in front of a huge crowd as he finds out his husband is probably dead for real this time.) - Guan Hemeng doesn’t think LLH would have survived much longer but FDB says he’s going to look for him - DFS gets the last line of the whole (main) show and it sounds like a goddamn wedding vow “NO ONE CAN REPLACE YOU IN OUR PROMISE” Extra - everyone is looking for LLH but there are no leads - FDB looks for him in all the places they visited together but still doesn’t find him - There’s a 3 month time skip and we see the seasons change - DFS stands in the forest and gets a report from Wuyan that LLH still hasn’t been found - he’s been crying, he’s holding the hilt of Shaoshi, and his own sword has been put down (is stabbed into the ground behind him. Bcuz why does he need it if there’s no one to fight?) - he tells him to keep looking - Qingming Festival (aka Tomb-Sweeping day - festival to honor the dead) - FDB still looking for him - Hulijing barks at a beggar, and FDB finds he has LLH’s blue pouch - The Beach - they’re both shown watching the shore and LLH is there in a fur cloak and a new set of robes we’ve never seen him in with a slightly different hairstyle - both FDB and DFS show up at the same time from different directions. They both look on in disbelief - its an ambiguous ending. Is he there? Is it his ghost? Did he survive and get cured somehow?... good thing we have fanfic. (also the novel ending is even more tragic… so I’ve heard) So! Couple other things! - there’s BTS! There’s some on iQIYI and some on YT. One of my favorites is the Xiao Shunyao vlog during the filming of the first fight in ep 1. Plus the BTS of him hanging out with all the animals on set - there’s a deleted scene that is supposed to take place during the extra. Its among the BTS and shows DFS looking for LLH. He thinks he sees him and then gets disappointed when he realizes it’s not him. It’s heartbreaking (the link I have to it is broken but if I find it I’ll drop it in the discord channel) - there was meant to be a song from DFS’s pov that is all about his relationship with LLH/LXY, but it wasn’t included in the show. The lyrics were posted on White Day (reciprocal Valentines) and is just line after line of romantic connotations - Xiao Shunyao and Cheng Yi were in another drama together after this one and according to XSY their characters have a very similar dynamic to MLC. The show is called Hero Legends and while we haven’t gotten a release date yet, they keep saying “soon”. (fingers crossed it’s before the end of the year bcuz its driving some of us [ME] nuts)

Episode 36-38 notes: - So, knowing a HUGE secret about the emperor is never a good thing. We all know this. I mean even disagreeing with them and it is off with your head. Does it say something about me that I think the prettiest Li Lianhua has ever been in this series is when he's severely injured and chained to the bed in Jiao Liqiao's dungeon? Episode 38: There are 2 words that symbolises "marry" in Chinese. One is 娶[qǔ]. The other one is 嫁 [jià]. 娶[qǔ] is used by males - meaning the bride "marries" into his house. 嫁 [jià] is used by females - meaning to "marry" out of her maiden home. Jiao Liqiao uses the male version of "marry 娶[qǔ]". She might have a head full of cats, but I love the way she disregards gender & social norms (wanting to become emperor & creating a male harem 🤭).

Ep 38 – MY FAVORITE EPISODE!!!!! It gets a whole comment to itself bcuz it DESERVES to be SAVORED. I’m not kidding. I’m going to be SOOO annoying about this episode forever and ever, sorry not sorry. Also I’m doing a trope counter, let’s go. - LLH very slyly getting information out of his guards. He now knows roughly where he is and how far the nearest city is. He also asked about other prisoners. Hearing that JLQ is keeping someone chained up in her bedroom and visits them every day, he now knows where DFS is. Please note: the horrified and devastated look on his face as he realizes the situation his man is in. And he doesn’t even know the details yet. - keep in mind, at this point it’s been at least two weeks since JLQ crippled and captured DFS at Di Fortress 1) rescue mission for the husband 2) in the same prison but separated – getting info from the captors (#1) 3) “I’m hurt, but he’s hurt worse” - interrupted to show the situation in the palace - XYX is now being controlled and his authority is being used to arrest and silence everyone else that might be able to stop SGD - Qing’er finds out her father has been confined to his chambers. When she goes to investigate, she finds the emperor has been poisoned, and then she’s also confined to her chambers - this time JLQ visits LLH. She tries to poison him again but he was able to smell it. She gives him a replica of his red sect leader robes and tries to recruit him to officiate her wedding to DFS. He gets her talking enough to reveal that she has a way to counteract the karmic bugs. Cue: second horrified and devastated look. 4) “I know him better than you do” 5) countdown to an event/there’s a deadline (three days to the wedding) 6) villain offers to put both in her harem - second interruption to show the palace - Yang Yunchun is being kept out but he forces his way in - Qing’er gets a message to him - he’s nearly caught by his shifu, but XYX gets just enough cognizance back to let him go get help 6.5) (normally I wouldn’t count this bcuz it has nothing to do with feihua but it’s one of my faves so I feel like I have to) breaking free of mind control for the other - LLH has recovered enough to regain his sight and tricks his guards into providing just enough material for him to escape and put his rescue plan into action. He also gets details about DFS’s situation. Third look of horror and devastation. LLH looks like he wants to throw up and cry at the same time. 7) in the same prison but separated – getting info from the captors (#2) 8) “I’m hurt but he’s hurt worse” this time with details! (#2) 9) rescue in progress 10) countdown to event/there’s a deadline (#2) (two days to wedding) - LLH sneaks around and figures out where DFS is being held. And then we get our first look at how DFS has been treated. Chained up, stripped to his bottom layer, held in a hot spring that is keeping him from being able to heal. JLQ visits him but he doesn’t react until she mentions LXY. Also turns out LLH witnessed everything. - btw the place she was stabbing? And digging her fingers into? It’s the same place LXY stabbed him back in episode one. She’s recreating his injuries. (there’s also a meta on how JLQ and LLH/LXY wardrobes have similar cuts and designs) - Also! Fun fact: Xiao Shunyao has a nipple piercing and it’s visible when she’s uh… fingering… his wound. So canon nipple piercing for DFS! 11) in the same prison but separated – getting info from captors (#3) (and this time from the other side) 12) threatening the other to get a rise out of him 13) “you can do anything to me but don’t you dare touch him” 14) one witnessing the other’s torture - DFS knows he’s there and calls him out on it. They chat, LLH reveals he’s there to rescue him, DFS is surprised and wary to find out not only LLH knows about Di Fortress but doesn’t judge him for it. LLH carries him on his back and they hide in what is supposed to be the newlywed chamber. 15) “I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth.” (LLH did this back in ep 6 when DFS was disguised as a child) 16) banter in the face of danger 17) “I know you. You’re not as bad as you pretend to be.” 18) rescue mission in progress (#2) (also is it just me or is the key ring heart-shaped?) 19) hurt one is semi-conscious and being carried 20) usually stoic one allows himself to be vulnerable bcuz he knows the other will keep him safe 21) hiding in plain sight - The Newlywed Chamber. DFS attempts to repair his meridians and heal himself but it’s a 90% he’ll die. Turns out these injuries are worse than what he got in ep 1, and it took him 10 years to heal from that. (Gee, I wonder why… btw Xiao Shunyao said in an interview that LLH being alive gave DFS “a will to live again”. So, there’s that.) LLH not too happy about those odds, and ends up saving him with a qi transfer and teaching him a few lines of Yangzhouman. 22) more banter in the face of danger 23) downplaying his injuries 24) “don’t you dare die.” (really LLH? (we’ll come back to this) 27) beat the odds to save his life 28) banter in the face of danger (#3) 29) they don’t smile like that at anyone else 30) missing time (they needed to bathe and get dressed and they were just talking about repaying favors and the bed is RIGHT THERE.) - Toasting the moon. With wedding wine. On the night of their anniversary. TOASTING THE MOON! WITH WEDDING WINE! ON THE NIGHT OF THEIR ANNIVERSARY!!! LLH also asks about DFS future plans. 31) keeping track of the anniversary 32) drinking wedding wine (this is the newlywed chamber. Inside he finds his sword, and LLH points out that JLQ may have hidden other important things so they search for another hidden room/compartment This takes the rest of the night and well into morning - (I’d like to point out that they are both very smart and capable and experienced men who are searching a single room. I’d also like to point out that just a couple episodes ago LLH and Qing’er searched a large portion of the palace in a single afternoon.) 38) more missing time (y’all get distracted? By the bed? That’s literally right there?) - So they’ve both worn wedding robes earlier in the series. They’ve now spent the night in a newlywed chamber. They drank the wine, and had plenty of time for a consummation. They celebrated an anniversary and agreed that they’ve been in love this whole time… MARRIED! HUSBANDS! - (iQIYI agrees btw. There’s official merch of the wine drinking scene with the double happiness character – the symbol that’s used for weddings. Censorship who?) (if I ever figure out how to get my hands on it I may explode) - they find the instructions on how to destroy the mother bug and set off an alarm. DFS protects his man from the trap that’s set off (and the archers outside) and they meet JLQ and company outside. YBQ shows up and JLQ reveals everything he’s done that has hurt LLH (some of which is news to DFS) 39+40) protects his husband! 41) teasing in the face of danger - Sigu and Baichuan are on the way to rescue LLH. JLQ offers an ultimatum which DFS declines, and we get them flirting right in front of her. She activates traps that distract them long enough for DFS to be caught again (she attic-wifed my man!!!) JLQ learns Bicha makes him immune to other poisons but it still affects him. 42) “be with me or die with him” (oh honey, he’s gonna kill you. You don’t threaten his husband in front of him.) 43+44) flirting AND banter in the face of danger, and right in front of her salad 45) last minute setback/they get separated 46) panicked and concerned look as he’s captured again 47) villain treating him like a princess in a tower - Sigu is making their way up the mountain despite the traps. Snow Master suspects YBQ made them poorly on purpose. FDB arrives and kills Snow Master with his newly upgraded skill, and goes ahead to LLH. - More traps are misfiring. LLH has been holding his own against JLQ despite being unarmed, but he gets Shaoshi and immediately frees his husband, and has the skill to injure JLQ further. JLQ blames LLH for DFS not wanting to be with her (what censorship?) and DFS immediately grabs her by the throat. LLH and FDB leave while he finally, at long last, kills her. - he finally makes an exception for her and it’s to the rule about not killing women. Not the one she wanted but the one she deserved. And he does it quickly and efficiently and with the least amount of contact with her possible. 48) saving his husband again 49) villain threatens one in front of the other 50+51) “I got this babe, I’ll be right behind you” and trusting that he will actually be fine - Sigu finally catches up. The others finally realize LLH is LXY, but LLH no longer wants the mantle of leadership. DFS arrives and no one questions it. Yang Yunchun arrives to ask for help with the situation in the palace. - Sigu, Tianji Manor, and Yang Yunchun make a plan to deal with SGD then leave the trio. FDB is worried about LLH, but DFS has taught him Windy Poplar as a temporary stopgap. FDB is surprised DFS is helping, but he’s really only there for his husband. We get a tease of future Battle Husbands. And we get a trio power walk to lead us into the finale! 52) sharing secret techniques (#2) (going the other direction this time) 53) “I would let the world burn, but he’s in danger so I’ll save it instead” 54) Live FDB Reaction 55) shy/fond/knowing smile 56) “who could imagine we would end up here” (#2) Also! Their final matching outfit was during this episode! 1) they both have red sect leader robes (ep 5 for DFS and ep 12 for LXY) 2) the green (worn twice! First in ep 5 and then ep 17-19) 3) the blue (Cailian Manor ep 12) 4) wedding clothes!! Worn separately, yes, but the only two of the trio that have worn wedding clothes – and now we know why! (ep 11 for LLH and ep 20 for DFS)[also DFS was in LLH’s bed while in wedding clothes!] 5) the masks. LLH’s covered the right side of his face and DFS’s the left. Together, two halves make a whole. (ep 9-10 when they were wearing them together, LLH wore it again for ep 17-18, A’Fei got a new one for ep 20-25) 6) the fur!! They are separate and yet both wear fur in ep 30. (LLH with the fur cloak, and DFS in his robes with the fur collar) 7) prison outfits. Ep 36 - Demon Monk and the craftsman are searching the palace for “a place to build the pagoda” - really they’re looking for the mother bug - LLH and Yang Yunchun follow behind to “help”. LLH reveals he was just lucky to know about the weather, and asks for a favor - Demon Monk is following where the child bugs lead, and asks about a section that has been abandoned for 100 years bcuz it has a history of mysteries and bad luck. - while the craftsman inspect the area, LLH and Yang Yunchun work together to find out where the child bugs are hidden - LLH killed the bugs with the snow salt mentioned in ep 34. He says he got it from “an old friend”?? - LLH investigates the four craftsmen in order to try and get ahead of Demon Monk and SGD - the four are treated differently by SGD; are being threatened - Yang Yunchun finds out they were eunuchs in the palace 10 years ago - they were kicked out instead of executed for stealing precious items - a wild animal killed a fifth eunuch and nothing in the palace was missing?? - the Pagoda of Bliss - rumors about whether it was ever real or not and if it was ever real, somehow disappeared overnight?? - Yang Yunchun found plans for a pagoda and shows it to LLH. LLH tears pieces out and recreates the symbol he was looking for. - LLH figures out the mother bug is in the Pagoda of Bliss, and the eunuchs know where it is - the eunuchs are attacked. They think there’s a monster and ghost after them. SGD thinks it’s a trick by LLH to make them talk - there’s a third person either trying to make them talk or keep them quiet?? - Demon Monk tries to force the men by threatening them and their families. LLH gets there in time for one of them to nearly spill the beans, but Demon Monk knocks him out -quick check-in with FDB - each of his opponents are getting more difficult - the last opponent is Qi Mushan – LXY and SGD’s shifu - FDB gets an upgrade to his skills and defeats him and the formation and finally escapes - the four eunuchs are being hidden - LLH uses the princess’ hairpin to get into the inner palace - he locates the men and hears them discussing the Pagoda of Bliss - while he’s distracted, they get attacked by the monster and ghost again. This time they’re killed and LLH is caught as the attacker. - he almost gets killed by the prison guard, but frees himself. And then FDB arrives with a decree from the Empress Dowager to investigate the case - the third person killed the men to keep them quiet - they had to be poisoned to not fight back. The poison was most likely on the map - if the beast is real it can be tracked by Hulijing. (hi baby girl, we’ve missed you!) - they find a cave with lynxes tied together in a tiger pelt (the two-headed beast) - if the beast is real, someone had to be taking care of it. Meat has gone missing from the Beast Garden for years and only one other person has the key - Liu Kehe has a spare key from the Ministry of Industry. He would have been able to build and tear down structures within the palace, and help to hide the Pagoda of Bliss. They find him having hung himself in his office. - he was protecting the secret of the Pagoda of Bliss, but not the karmic bug?? Ep 37 - Demon Monk and SGD are still looking for the pagoda. FDB and LLH distract them to get them out of the way - LLH becomes fascinated by the lantern? It makes sense when they figure out the mechanism for how a tower can become a well - they use the records of structures that were torn down/built to figure out where the entrance is - FDB moves the mountain with his gadgets and they go inside. - the Pagoda of Bliss - they find the body of Feng Ahlu and the mother bug. LLH tricks Demon Monk into taking the empty skull instead of the vessel - FDB sets up traps and looks for another exit while LLH looks at the murals - LLH figures out the secret Liu Kehe was protecting. The current royal family isn’t related at all to the royal family of 100 years ago, but is actually descended from Feng Ahlu and Consort Ying - the passage they use to escape leads into the Royal Harem - the emperor and XYX are waiting for them. The mother bug ends up with XYX - LLH tells them the Pagoda of Bliss is real, but can’t talk about the karmic bugs without revealing the secret. - the emperor sees it for himself but can’t admit to it being true - LLH and FDB escape - the Empress Dowager is “abducted” - XYX takes off to chase the culprits - its really Demon Monk in a cloak and he and SGD incapacitate XYX enough to take the mother bug - (hey isn’t that the guy you said was your savior, and that LLH was slandering him by warning you that he was planning to rebel? Huh, I guess LLH was right.) - SGD wakes the mother bug and we see just how powerful she is on her own. And she can create more child bugs. - Qing’er comes to the rescue and helps LLH and FDB escape from the palace. - LLH suggests splitting up so that FDB can go check on his father and the rest of his family and LLH plans to meet an old friend - Lord Fang has already been captured and Tianji Manor is being monitored, but mama has escaped - LLH has gotten worse again. He’s having vision issues. - the old friend he was meeting is YBQ. He asks for the location of JLQ’s lair. (are we gonna rescue a husband??) - YBQ doesn’t answer. Instead he apologizes to LLH and then stabs him in the chest. - when FDB arrives at Lotus Tower LLH is gone - FDB seeks help in finding LLH at Sigu Sect. XZJ is unhelpful (like a fucking asshole) - FDB reveals that LLH is LXY, and XZJ calls bullshit. (He KNOWS who LLH IS!! He’s known for half the series!!) - ZYF arrives to help prove it. FDB further proves it by using Yangzhouman in front of everyone. - XZJ still doesn’t care, he would rather LXY be dead and out of the way - ENTER A QUEEN!!! QWM takes leadership of the sect from XZJ and they begin searching for LLH - LLH wakes up in a dungeon. - he’s was injured badly enough that he’s been unconscious for a little under a week - (btw the bed he’s chained to? Is the same bed DFS woke up in after he recovered from Wuxin Huai in ep 27) - the guards discuss why their master saved him. Not bcuz the master likes him, bcuz the one the master likes is somewhere else… and has been completely silent? - LLH wakes up and his eyes aren’t working well at all. He can only see shapes, and he cough and spits up blood. - he already knows this is JLQ’s lair but he confirms it by talking to the guards - when he asks for a drink, SGD appears - he denies LLH water and then falls into the typical Villain Monologue™ about how great he is and how he’s going to humiliate LLH - as SGD leaves, he tells the guards to torture LLH, but they only answer to JLQ - FDB has been searching for LLH but so far there hasn’t been any news. He gets an anonymous clue for where to find LLH. He catches up to the person, but we don’t see who it is.

Episode 33, 34 and 35: The current ranking of the 10,000 best marial artists excludes both Di Feisheng and Li Xiangyi, as well as Fang Duobing, because no one knows Li Xiangyi is alive and Di Feisheng was also gone from the world for 10 years and Fang Duobing is basically a martial arts world baby, he has no big fights under his name yet to be on a list like this. So without those three the current Top 3 are: Nr. 1: Buddhist Three Saints / Buddhist San Sheng from East Japan - the three dudes that captured Di Feisheng Nr. 2: Yang Yunchun with the Royal Dragon - the purple clothed royal guard guy from Ep 35 we also know from other episodes Nr. 3: Demon Monk of the Blood Realm - the imperal preceptor that fights with a bell Now of course with our two bad boys in the game again Li Xiangyi would be number 1, Di Feisheng number 2, and the others would just drop by 2 places. By the way, the way Li Lianhua was all like "Di Feisheng clearly has done what he needed to... so why hasn't he come to find me yet?" like he's just so abso-fucking-lutely certain that when DFS was finished with business he would've immediately come to find him, to the point where the fact that DFS hasn't shown up at his doorstep like an angry feral cat yet means that something MUST'VE gone terribly wrong. AND THE WAY HE'S NOT EVEN WRONG because the ///SECOND/// DFS was finished with his murder mission at Di Manor he immediately was like "k now let's go find Li Lianhua". THESE TWO ISTFG.

Episode 33-35 notes: - SO, how did ANY of this get passed the censorship? - Everyone thinks Di Feisheng is getting the flower to lift his power. Indeed, it IS important to him, but not as important as healing Lianhua. Remember in the snake cave, he vowed to get the flower and heal him if he wanted or not many episodes ago. So, the witch thinks it is for his power or maybe Lianhua both. Maybe she does not know him that well, like she thinks? - There has been so many beloved side characters I fell in love with. Never happened for me before MLC. Supernatural in western series was one. - Lianhua knew that Di Feisheng would not do this without a reason. He did not want to hurt the aunt. Just wanted the bug away and deliver the flower and box. Well, you know where. - He did not want to keep the sword anymore. If you remember, his big brother gave it after killing that whole innocent family. And well, after finding out he caused their master to die. Bye, bye sword. - Lianhua's big brother is an a-hole and makes Lianhua blame himself more. - Have the wine in handy. I am not kidding. And you can't even BELIEVE, what is coming next.

Ep 33 - LLH thinks the murderer and/or the body may still be in room so everyone starts searching. Li’er finds that the red candles are missing, ZYF finds fragments of the bed in a vase, and they discover that the bed is actually made of the missing candles - when they dig into the bed they find the body of a servant. - she was a recent hire so FDB doesn’t recognize her. - the skin left in the room came from her back - she was killed with her own weapon, which means the groom didn’t die - the wedding wine was drugged by the maid. The groom noticed and said nothing - the groom fought and killed the person that tried to kill them, but then faked their death - the maid’s headpiece has a symbol that matches the jade pendant of the banker so she’s there for the ice shard - searching her room LLH finds a book with chess diagrams disguised as poetry - the maid and the banker were communicating through the chess formations - LLH and FDB figure out that the banker knew the groom had the first ice shard that went missing and that he must know where the groom went - LLH goes back to the bridal chamber to figure out how the groom left without being seen - since ZYF didn’t see anyone come OR go then the groom was still in the room when Li’er and the others came in and ran out with them - none of the girls were the first to call for help and everyone definitely heard a woman’s voice. Who is the groom??? - ZYF confirms the groom fought cowardly not bcuz they couldn’t but to protect a certain acupoint - LLH thinks the groom used the Dragon Phoenix Shift (CANON TRANS CHARACTER) to disguise themself, and the person known for the technique is Liangyi Fairy – the wife of Qingzun and the holder of the last ice shard - He Xiaofeng eavesdrops to find out what’s going on and knows where to find Liangyi Fairy - she gets there ahead of LLH and the others and finds her fighting the banker - she protects her lawfully wedded wife! CANON MARRIED LESBIANS!!! - He Xiaofeng gets saved by ZYF and the banker gets thrown off the cliff. We finally get some chemistry for our Bi King and Queen. - Liangyi Fairy is dying and explains why she came and where the ice shard is. she also tells them that her tattoo shows a way to get rid of the Karmic Bugs, but she doesn’t understand it. She never planned on surviving her plans - Tianji Manor gets attacked by SGD for the ice shards - he exposes that he’s FDB biological father and LLH’s identity - (about the ranking list: back in ep 5 JLQ gives DFS the most current ranking list. #1 is the Buddhist Three Saints, #2 is Yang Yunchun, and #3 is Demon Monk. The ranking list is obviously wrong bcuz it doesn’t account for the assumed-dead LXY and DFS) - LLH challenges SGD to a fight in order to get him to leave and avoid more death - LLH is aware that he won’t be able to hold on for very long and will try to make it quick but SGD has gotten better and stronger in the last ten years - SGD reveals that he caused their shifu’s qi deviation and stole his power by lying to him about LXY. The emotional toll and the exertion finally trigger Bicha. LLH vows to avenge their shifu and fights hand to hand - SGD tries to kill LLH but is stopped by FDB arriving. FDB now realizes that LLH lied about being cured. - SGD reveals that the Styx Flower is the only thing that can cure him and signals his followers to attack Tianji Manor - FDB leaves LLH to meditate and recover up on the cliff Ep 34 – this is one of my favorite episodes. Let’s fucking go!! - attack on Tianji Manor - they retreat inside and tanks follow them in - mama and FDB work together to use the defense mechanisms. FDB takes out the tank after SGD arrives - Demon Monk comes in and overpowers everyone, but LLH returns to help (how did he recover so quickly and be able to fight again?) - DFS arrives!! (In a brand new glorious outfit of blue scales. Hello my love you look stunning, you look gorgeous. Always lovely when you grace my screen) - he takes He Xiaofeng hostage and demands the ice shards. FDB calls him a traitor and he replies that they’re only working together for their own ends - SGD says he’s late. Why is he late? (was he, perhaps, up on a certain cliff giving his husband energy so he could recover faster? We’ll never know but it’s a fun theory - SGD stabs He Xiaofeng and now DFS is ANGRY. (after all, he doesn’t kill women. He’s barely holding her, his sword is sheathed. He’s also the one that “tortured confessions” out of people earlier in the show by… threatening to torture them. My man relies on his reputation as a Bid Bad Villian™ to do most of his work for him) - LLH was unconcerned when it was just DFS holding her but now he tells FDB to hand over the ice shards. SGD asks for the second but FDB wants a guarantee his aunt will be safe. (also the worried expression from DFS??!?) - SGD guarantees nothing continues to injure her but DFS pushes her back to them while the second ice shard is still in the air - LLH will no longer call SGD shixiong and promises to kill him - DFS gives them one last look before leaving with SGD - the Rama Vessel and all four ice shards are all together - DFS is watching intently and steals them all from SGD - Feng Qing and Demon Monk try to take it back but my man fends them off one handed without even trying - SGD graciously allows him to leave with the bugs (not like he could stop him if he tried) and asks that they be returned when he’s done (DFS has no intention to do so) - he teases DFS with possession of the Styx Flower (does he think he wants it for himself – like everyone else – or does he know he wants it for LLH???) - and JLQ appears bcuz she’s NOT DEAD and is working with SGD to get back at DFS (does SHE know? Or suspect?) - the sword dance in the bamboo forest – he’s back in LXY colors - we get a flashback of LXY training as a teenager with his shifu watching. He finally passes the test and is allowed to go down the mountain when he is able to ruin his gourd without his shifu noticing - in present time we see LLH has repaired the gourd (he’s had it since ep 1 and sometimes talked to his shifu through it) …shut up, I’m not crying - you’re crying - This sword dance is so goddamn beautiful. And he’s drinking during the whole thing. Cheng Yi is something else - he goes up on the cliff and throws the sword into the opposite cliff. (very sword in the stone of him) The sword that his beloved shixiong gave him. - FDB is now more concerned with curing LLH, but LLH is more concerned with tying up loose ends. Now that The Stakes™ have been spelled out he’s going to be putting himself and his health in more and more jeopardy, so he’s pulling away every time someone brings up curing him - LLH tries to sneak off to find out what DFS is up to. He knows DFS wouldn’t have worked with SGD without a good reason - LLH had looked into his background before and found connections to Death Sorcerers (assassins) - DFS opens the vessel and uses the bug…on himself - the child Karmic Bug overpowers the mind control bug that already had in himself - we get another flashback to Di Fortress where we see a young DFS almost succeed in escaping. When the master uses the bell on him this time, we understand that’s how he was controlled - DFS goes back for his revenge!!! This is my song!!! - no one is a match for him but he doesn’t kill them - the master had tried to kill him/sent people after him but couldn’t get past JA. THIS is why he built his sect. JA was his protection from Di Fortress. It’s why he doesn’t care about whether it survives or if he can rule it. - also remember ep 1? The literal first five minutes? He tells LXY “a swordsman shouldn’t have weaknesses” while he had one of the biggest ones yet!! He could have been controlled at any time if he was within hearing distance of that bell or if people found out - he tosses a coin at the master to “pay for his cheap life” and the master tries the bell – but it doesn’t work anymore!!! - the master begs for his life and offers DFS Di Fortress, but he doesn’t want it. He has no interest in ruling people!!! - he ruins the master and frees the others of their mind control bugs and then destroys the fortress - Xunming arrives with the Styx Flower and news that there’s a method to getting rid of the bugs, and DFS is ready to go straight to his husband - but then the bitch arrives. I TOLD YOU TO KILL HER!!! - Xunming has been poisoned and some of it transfers to DFS. The flower ends up back with JLQ - he suppresses the poison but is ambushed when he attacks JLQ. The poison weakened him just enough that he is captured and SGD arrives - SGD takes back the bugs, and JLQ cripples but doesn’t kill DFS. (oooh ho ho oh he’s gonna kiiill yoooouuuu) (SHE’S LITERALLY OG TIMELINE LUO BINGHE) - he escapes one captor only to be taken captive by someone else…my man already has consent issues. This is not going to help at all. - LLH and FDB arrive too late. They get the story in broad strokes from the crippled master. - “why didn’t he show up and look for me?” “why didn’t he show up and look for me?!!” OH?? Are you expecting your husband to come looking for you sweetie?? - LLH and FDB decide to follow the map on the tattooed skin since it may lead them to the mother bugs - DFS now being treated like a prize and paraded before JLQ’s followers - we get a flashback of their first meeting. She was tied up for trying to steal techniques but had poisoned the food and drink the men were having - DFS arrived to challenge the #10 on the ranking list and did so with ease. He now knows it’s somewhere in the Imperial City, but not exactly. (he needs the mother bug bcuz although it can suppress the child bugs, it is also necessary to be able to control the hosts of the child bugs.) - LLH and FDB figure out SGD wants to be emperor - alerting the palace is apparently a no-go so LLH asks to find a way for him to go - FDB is now looking for the Styx Flower - his spy brings back news that it could be a cure as long as Yin and Yang are taken together, and that DFS has been looking for it too - but he believes DFS wants it for himself since the Yang can boost his cultivation. - FDB leaves to find the flower and tries to get his family to keep him there, but they let him go. ZYF is wearing his hair up again! He’s so pretty! - FDB infiltrates SGD’s lair - he finds the flower but doesn’t take it away fast enough to not get caught - SGD tries to appeal to their familial ties again - since FDB won’t take his side SGD throws him into a pit that contains a formation no one has ever survived before - the formation is ever-changing and has both real and illusory elements - LLH is making a name for himself in the capital to get the palace’s attention - he’s recruited to help a noble lady, but doesn’t know who - Demon Monk has infiltrated by calling himself the Imperial Preceptor of Xibei. How do they not know who he is? - LLH challenges him to a bet. He knows something Demon Monk doesn’t so of course he’s going to win. Bcuz it’s Qing’er! Our delightful princess. - she works with him and plays her part beautifully. Unfortunately her grandmother arrives to stop her from sending Demon Monk away. - LLH employs Qing’er’s help to search the palace but they don’t find anything. She gives him a hairpin and the name of a guard for future help - Yang Yunchun overheard their talk and approaches LLH - XYX is his shifu and is unconcerned about the threat. LLH reminds him of the time LXY snuck into the palace. XYX figures out he’s LXY - XYX claims that Wansheng Clan and SGD are loyal to the empire. He believes the propaganda bcuz SGD once saved his family (he probably put it in danger in the first place, in order to save them), and he thinks LXY tried to kill SGD 10 years ago which is why he was in hiding - the emperor holds a banquet for LLH and Demon Monk - Demon Monk talks about building a pagoda in the palace. - the emperor agrees and calls in the craftsmen – led by Feng Qing and SGD disguised as one of them - planning the pagoda is a good way to search the palace - LLH tries to convince the emperor not to go through with it and when that doesn’t work he convinces him to let him work with the craftsmen

GOD, it hurts, but the scene with Li Lianhua reacting to Shan Gudao revealing how their master really died is one of my favorite pieces of acting, maybe ever. It's just incredible. there's this saying that's pretty common in Chinese that someone pisses you off or upsets you so much that you spit blood. And that scene is the only time in my life where I can actually believe that that can really happen, thanks to Cheng Yi's acting. Also, it can't be translated right and I don't blame iQiyi for this at all, but the line from Li Lianhua at 39:13 ish that gets translated as "we're indebted to master and madam" is a little different in Chinese. He uses a much more poetic turn of phrase, the literal translation of which would be more like "Master and madam showed us kindness as heavy as mountains" (using a word for kindness that implies a kindness that must be repaid). There a lot of places where stuff like this gets lost in translation but I just had to point this one out because it's one of my favorite lines. It's such a beautiful phrase and just shows how much he valued and loved his master and master's wife. Combined with the breaking of his voice there.... Fucking heartbreaking.

According to Shan Gudao's actor, during their confrontation in episode 32, Li Lianhua's words "I've been looking for you for ten years!" wasn't in the script. Cheng Yi said it 3 times for emphasis. The first few minutes of their conversation was ad-libbed to make it more emotional.

Ep 30 - so LLH turns himself into FDB’s custody and FDB is doesn’t trust him – which is fair, considering - FDB locks him up in the woodshed (a very nice woodshed, but a woodshed nonetheless) instead of the prison bcuz he’s “delicate”. He doesn’t know about Bicha so he’s probably thinking about the “heart disease”… and also LLH is The Li Xiangyi™ and he’s being bitter about it. - mama wants to put LLH in a guest room but FDB won’t let her. LLH helps reassure her that he’ll be fine (he won’t) and FDB has three questions 1) why didn’t he use the smoke signal? We learn it’s to protect FDB (also he didn’t actually agree that he would. FDB demanded as he was walking away, and LLH didn’t reply) 2) why did he turn himself in? we already know it was to gain access to the brother so he could free him 3) why did he finally expose himself after so long? Well we already know it was to protect FDB - LLH ends up with a burn on his finger. When FDB checks on him he’s annoyed and denies him both food and then a blanket. LLH says he needs the blanket for the cold toxin (Bicha) but FDB brushes him off as making up things again - of course then LLH has a Bicha attack during the night and FDB finds out that he is actually really sick. He spends the night taking care of him only for LLH to brush it off in the morning… and his sight is getting worse again… and FDB believes him!! - LLH answers the first question and tells FDB the story of what happened with the He family and the cloud iron. FDB thinks he’s making things up to smear his father’s name. - mama frees both the fake Lian Quan and LLH. She gives him a letter and the tracking bee from LLH so FDB can go get the ice shard - LLH heals Li Xiong but also poisons him with Bicha. Later he’ll say it wasn’t on purpose but he must be lying. (even the brothers can tell healing the Bizhong Strike took a lot out of him) - FDB goes to the temple to find the ice shard but gets knocked out by some powder (and the bee gets killed) - LLH goes back to Lotus Tower and expects that FDB can handle the rest so he plans to leave. He’s still not doing well… and then he finds out FDB is in danger - the brothers have FDB tied up in the mines and threaten him to force LLH to detoxify Bicha - LLH says he can’t (bcuz he can’t) and Li Xiao doesn’t believe him but LLH then makes up something about a crystal in his sword - (also during this stand-off, we learn there were rumors about SGD looking into Nanyin descendants for possibly nefarious reasons 10 years ago. But no one deigned to tell LXY about it bcuz they thought he wouldn’t believe them.) - FDB (perhaps remembering he said he didn’t know what the sword was made out of) realizes he’s going to try an attack. With how weak LLH is the attack fails, and FDB finally finds out he’s been poisoned with Bicha - LLH pretends that he’s fine and “teaches” Yangzhouman as a way to distract Li Xiao, but is really working with FDB to free him and disarm the brothers. He kills the brothers only to spit up blood right after. - they get the ice shard and barely escape the explosion in the mines, only to be met with JLQ and men from JA - LLH NOT doing well, FDB tries to take on all of them on his own and defend LLH at the same time. Ends up injured, and gives the ice shard to JLQ (while killing a few more men) - mama to the rescue!! And then Shi Shui and Biqiu to the rescue. JLQ takes off and Biqiu tries to take LLH. FDB refuses to give him up and quits the detective job while he’s at it. - So: Li Lianhua’s Health: - 1) he’s barely recovered from Shishou Village. He spent three days unconscious and another week sick on top of that. 2) he chased and fought the brothers multiple times. 3) had a Bicha attack. 4) detoxed one brother and fought and killed both to save FDB - this man is so far from okay and he is still trying to run away. FDB catches him trying to leave and takes him to Guan Hemeng when he gets even worse - Guan Hemeng does not have good news for him - LLH had 4 months to live after curing QWM in ep 18, he’s now down to 1 month - FDB learns he wasn’t just pretending not to have martial skills to protect is identity, but that every time he uses his inner power the poison gets worse and kills him faster - Guan Hemeng tells him to go to LXY’s shiniang (wife of shifu) bcuz she might be able to cure him. We will find out what this entails later. - Shi Shui reports back to Baichuan and Sigu that the “evidence” against LLH was slander. XZJ (fucking asshole!) asks “Are you sure?” He knows who he is!! Ugh this guy!! - the brief glance Biqiu got of LLH’s neck finally got him to clue in about him being LXY. He confronts JLQ about it for confirmation, and suggests he kill LLH or LLH will come after him for poisoning him 10 years ago. What is he gonna do about it? - A’FEI MY BELOVED!!!!! HE’S BACK!!! Oh how I miss him when he’s not on my screen. - still playing JLQ. He acts jealous about ZZMZ sending her a pair of butterflies, to which she claims to just be using him and he means nothing to her - (if you don’t know the story of the butterfly lovers I strongly rec you look it up. And then know that Xiao Shunyao’s [DFS] character in an upcoming drama has multiple butterfly-shaped hair accessories. I’m feeling a little feral about it.) - he reveals that he knows about Wansheng clan and that there’s a secret leader, the Rama Vessel and ice shards, and her being from Nanyin. He takes the ice shard from her and tells her to continue gathering the bugs for him - why DOES he want the bugs??? We know from ep 5 he doesn’t care about ruling Jinyuan Alliance, and we know from his repeated claims that he doesn’t care about defeating everyone – just LXY. We also know he only cares about practicing martial arts from ep 26, and not even whether he’s seen as a hero or villain - he’s also wearing my favorite outfit of the whole show. Red and black robes with a fur collar. Mmmmhm, yes please, and thank you! I swoon every time. - also this adds +1 to the list of matching outfits for our husbands: 1) they both have red sect leader robes (ep 5 for DFS and ep 12 for LXY) 2) the green (worn twice! First in ep 5 and then ep 17-19) 3) the blue (Cailian Manor ep 12) 4) wedding clothes!! Worn separately, yes, but (so far?) the only two of the trio that have worn wedding clothes (ep 11 for LLH and ep 20 for DFS)[also DFS was in LLH’s bed while in wedding clothes!] 5) the masks. LLH’s covered the right side of his face and DFS’s the left. Together, two halves make a whole. (ep 9-10 when they were wearing them together, LLH wore it again for ep 17-18, A’Fei got a new one for ep 20-25) 6) and now the fur!! They are separate and yet both wear fur in the same episode! - FDB has been carrying LLH to Yunyin Mountain and giving him Yangzhouman to help him heal faster - LLH gets some flashbacks: - a massacre and a woman telling her two boys to run - LXY and SGD living as beggars on the street - LXY and SGD getting kicked out by other beggars - LXY taking care of a sick SGD and getting found by Qi Mushan - Qi Mushan taking the boys back to Yunyin Mountain. Madam Qin is angry with him for going to town for a drink. - LLH wakes up just as the episode ends - what’s the cure Madam Qin might have? And will LLH cooperate? - what else might we learn while we’re here? - FINAL 10 EPISODES LET’S GOOOOOOO!!!!! Ep 31 - LLH wakes up confused on Yunyin Mountain - FDB tells him where they are and why. LLH immediately becomes alarmed. He tries to pretend like he doesn’t know the way then tries to convince FDB that Madam Qin won’t be happy to see him anyway - FDB tells him they’re going whether he likes it or not and LLH is weak enough he can’t argue - JLQ still thinks DFS has lost his memories of before but realizes it’s only a matter of time until he finds out all her plans again - she plans to fully betray DFS and take over JA with people loyal to her - she sends ZZMZ to steal the vessel and ice shard from the man in the hood but he gets killed in the process - turns out DFS is working with the man in the hood and warned him of what JLQ and ZZMZ would do - (this also means he must have figured out who the man in the hood is. What is he thinking about all this?) (Please note: his very carefully blank face.) - DFS says he only wants to be the top martial artist… so why does he want the vessel??? - JLQ trying to poison DFS with Wuxin Huai again but he’s onto her this time and catches her - she tries to say everything she’s done is for him 1) the 12 Guardians/Phoenixes were DFS’s bodyguards and all women. Yu Hongzhu (ep 3-5) was the last one and guarded his seclusion spot. JLQ killed them all bcuz she couldn’t stand other women around him (even tho he’s NEVER been interested in women) 2) she got rid of Sigu Sect and LXY bcuz she was jealous of the attention they got from him and wanted to get rid of the rest of JA so he could only rely on her 3) she wants to lie and steal and cheat so that he can be Number 1, without ever caring about what and how DFS wants to do things. She wants to give him the Karmic Bugs so no one can challenge him, and while he’s interested in them now, we know it’s not bcuz he wants to rule people… so WHY does he want them??? - she claims to love him and he rejects her AS HE SHOULD. He’s unconcerned as her men come in to try to take him on only for his men to drop from the ceiling and take out the traitors - LLH and FDB arrive at Yunju Pavilion - LLH tries again to get them to leave but FDB won’t budge. - they pay respects to the late Qi Mushan inside and LLH tells stories about his youth - FDB finds a young SGD’s room and looks through his stuff. We get flashbacks that show SGD getting angry and jealous about his shidi’s skills being better than his - LLH finally realizes SGD has always hated him when he sees his own name crossed out over and over - ok SO, the Flashback: - LLH loved him like a brother, but when he tried to reciprocate previous actions from SGD he got rebuffed. LXY tried to throw matches so SGD wouldn’t get mad at him anymore - Qi Mushan says “Martial arts practitioners value sincerity the most. If you lose the match on purpose, you are not only looking down on your opponent, but also yourself.” !!!!!!! I could scream about this line alone. That’s literally DFS’s whole thing!! He doesn’t want to use underhanded methods (like poison) to beat LXY and become number one, he wants to do it fairly!! And it’s part of the reason why he’s so angry with LLH just shrugging it off, like it doesn’t matter. - (this is also where I let you know that there are a few Di-shixiong AUs floating around in fandom – where DFS and LXY grow up together +/- SGD, and it fixes a lot) - LLH thought not losing on purpose would make SGD less resentful, but SGD just pretended they were fine. It doesn’t help that the masters were pitting them against each other every month. - LLH being introspective and realizing since he was shallow and arrogant so were the “friends” around him (ie: XZJ – wants him dead bcuz he wants QWM for himself, YBQ – was convinced by an enemy to poison him) - LLH still trying to get FDB to give up on him being cured. But FDB has realized Madam Qin would never have been found at Yunju pavilion and is instead further up the mountain - back to JLQ, she wakes up in a cave-like prison - DFS is putting her with all the people she’s tortured and tested poisons on (please kill her) - JLQ not helping her case by saying she would poison him and keep him dependent on her (Pleeeease kill her) - DFS leaves her there, probably expecting her to be killed in revenge by the others (Don’t. Do. That. PLEASE! Sweetie, honey, baby, sugar, I AM BEGGING!! I know you don’t kill women, but if you just leave her there, she might be able to escape. YOU NEED TO KILL HER!!!) - DFS has been trying to keep tabs on LLH and learns he hasn’t been seen for a month. He’s not happy to know his husband is missing, and that there’s no news whether he’s dead or alive. - DFS staking his claim on his man!!! “Li Lianhua’s life is mine.” Also he’s still looking for the Styx flower so he can cure him - FDB and LLH finally make it to the right Yunju Pavilion - LLH once again reluctant. It’s only when FDB puts himself in danger to force his way in that he finally speaks up - Madam Qin is happy to see him and we learn how Qi Mushan died. LLH says he didn’t come back bcuz his shifu died, and he was ashamed - Madam Qin says she’ll cure LLH’s poison. LLH refuses bcuz he knows that to save him, she then would become poisoned and die. She’s willing anyway and tries to force it, but LLH forces her to stop - (we also get a quick little tease that LXY’s parents saved Qi Mushan at some point? If he knew his parents why did LXY live on the streets?) - LLH convinces her not to go through with the cure and to pretend for FDB that he was cured. FDB is too happy to realize he’s being lied to again (also that injury he got last ep – last month – isn’t healed bcuz he’s been using all his power to try and heal LLH) - LLH doesn’t want to go back to being LXY and points out that there will always be new legends - FDB spend the night in what was once SGD’s room - Madam Qin tells him that SGD was very competitive and had a lot tolerance of others, and that to defeat LXY he was willing to do anything - FDB finds a box hidden in the pillowcase that is full of information on Nanyin 1) SGD was researching as early as his childhood 2) they figure out that there was a lost descendant of Consort Xuan and that SGD must be that lost descendant Ep 32 - FDB thinks bcuz SGD died back then that everything was for nothing but LLH suspects he may still be alive and they check the body - the body decayed despite being preserved for 10 years. - the armor on the body is fake - someone else was disguised as SGD and then killed. (I suspect using the Sanskrit method mentioned in ep 29) LLH points out it would have been very painful, which is why the body had a stick of Wuxin Huai on it. - SGD arrives in the flesh!! - he was watching as FDB and LLH dug up the grave with his fake body - SGD trying to claim FDB as his son. He gets angry when FDB throws it back in his face and tells him he’s never acted like a father - SGD just has an inferiority complex and claims he deserves to rule the world, and that FDB will inherit it in the future - …and then LLH arrives… - (so you know how back in ep 5 LLH says “Poor thing. None of the people she loved loved her. And none of them wanted to leave her alive.” And how in ep 19 FDB was talking about how he had LLH all figured out: “… Maybe you were betrayed by your best friend, which made you mistrustful and believe that you’re better off being alone.” …. Yeah, those were just foreshadowing this moment.) - FDB and LLH find out that DFS has teamed up with SGD to get the ice shards - LLH confused bcuz DFS shouldn’t be interested in the ice shards or the Karmic Bugs (he knows his husband very well but he’s doubting himself after what he’s learned about SGD) so WHY IS HE??? - a message calls FDB back to Tianji Manor. They think it has something to do with the ice shard left with mama - DFS and SGD discuss getting the remaining ice shards (the way my man’s face is so carefully blank when he’s talking to him… Xiao Shunyao, you drive me nuts) - Qingzun died in prison but his wife may have it. She died in prison according to the records but DFS found evidence she’s still alive and may be heading to Tianji Manor - (DFS says he didn’t know Qingzun died until he got into the prison, but he learned it from LLH in ep 25. He remembered everything else so I’m pretty sure he’s lying to SGD here.) - Snow Master eavesdrops on them and then goes to release JLQ. (I TOLD you to KILL HER!!!) the men she was locked up with are all dead and she’s gotten even crazier - FDB was called back bcuz his aunt is getting married - the husband is a random young man that was injured. She’s took care of him and decided to get married after only a few days. She still has feeling for LLH tho. - we finally get to meet dad!! FDB, having now met his biological father and found him wanting, is much more appreciative of the man that raised him - (LLH just standing there while everything happens around him. LOL) - mama also called them back bcuz someone left an ice shard among the wedding gifts – but it’s gone missing! - whoever stole the ice shard is still around - LLH suggests trying to lure out the thief by showing off the other ice shard. Mama suggests going to Guardian Zhan for help with the plan - Zhan Yunfei!!! (also known as Cheekbones and Jawline) - recruited by He Xiaofeng, and has impressive martial arts. Also seems to only talk to He Xiaofeng - likes to hang out on the roof, wears his hair loose, and… knows LLH somehow?! (FDB is finally picking up on the gay) - stays at Tianji Manor bcuz he lost a bet (sword fight) to He Xiaofeng. LLH tells him he would look better with his hair up, but Zhan Yunfei says he promised his friend he wouldn’t - LLH asks about the bet with He Xiaofeng and guesses that he’s staying for her - he asks about the groom. Wei Qingchou is weak in martial arts and not good enough for her according to Zhan Yunfei. But he just wants her to be happy - FDB has realized LLH knows ZYF and asks if he’s an old friend “like Di Feisheng” (like an ex??) or one of his past patients. - LLH tells FDB a story of how ZYF lost a bet (sword fight) to LXY and had to promise to never comb his hair or tie it up again. (SUPER gay to steal a man’s headband.) - like DFS in ep 8, Zhan Yunfei gets a shower of bamboo leaves in the flashback (ZYF is also a stoic type, like DFS – seems LXY/LLH has a type) - LLH tells FDB that while ZYF did lose to LXY, he’s not sure if he actually lost to He Xiaofeng - our suspect has been playing Go by himself, but not doing anything else suspicious. He was setting up the games according to a manual - LLH woken up by women calling for help. A new case! The groom is missing! - He Xiaofeng woke up to find him gone. All that was left behind was a piece of tattooed skin - she doesn’t know what happened after she went to bed, but there’s evidence of a struggle in the room - ZYF was guarding all night and didn’t see anything suspicious. There’s no hidden mechanisms or passages - the family leaves so LLH and FDB can investigate. LLH wonders if maybe the murderer is still hidden in the room somewhere

Ep 28 - LLH wants maps of emerald mines to find the Lord of the Netherworld - FDB currently has more questions than answers. Hopefully Wuliao has given him something to think about. Also, bold of him to assume LLH is hiding his identity from him specifically. He’s been hiding it FROM EVERYONE. (and mostly himself) - thanks to JLQ and XZJ (once again: asshole, he KNOWS who LLH is!) LLH is now under suspicion by Baichuan Court… it doesn’t help that they’ve discovered DFS was around him frequently - the mask DFS lost at the beginning of Shishou Village arc is in their possession - they bring back the dancer in his blonde glory!! Unfortunately he says enough to identify DFS to the four masters (btw when people talk about Fo, Bi, Bai, Shi that’s Ji HanFO, Yun BIqiu, BAI Jiangchun, and SHI Shui) - Yun Biqiu over here questioning who could possibly get DFS to follow him willingly… oh idk MAYBE HIS HUSBAND. Maybe the one person DFS is literally KNOWN to be OBSESSED with. Maybe the person that back in ep 9+10 Yun Biqiu thought LLH was. - FDB could very easily have just told them that LLH is LXY, so why didn’t he? - (Bai Jiangchun, the guy with the floofy bits on his robes, calls FDB ‘xiao-Bingbing’ in this scene. And gives him the benefit of the doubt in knowing who DFS is. He was still a child when DFS disappeared. He seems to have forgotten that FDB also fought DFS in the pear trees at the wedding) - FDB starts his own investigation into the Lord of the Netherworld via his henchmen while LLH figures out a location through the emerald mines… and they’re going to the same place again - New Case! The King of Hell abducting brides - FDB finds LLH, LLH tries to gets him to work together, FDB is treating him like a criminal(!!), and then LLH pulls the shifu card on him only to get rejected, so LLH fakes an injury and uses a distraction to get away (this boy, I swear. You can be mad at him for lying to you, but that doesn’t make him a criminal!) - LLH gets some info from a woman and her son. Wang Bashi has a stutter so LLH heard ‘Wang Ba’ which (if you remember from ErHa) literally means ‘tortoise’ but is also slang for ‘cuckold’ and ‘bastard’ which is why LLH clarifies with the mom (actually it wasn’t until I read ErHa that I understood why he was clarifying) - the mom is very jumpy when he asks about the Lord of the Netherworld?? But he gets info about the mines and the King of Hell case - FDB investigating the conjoined twins and finds out about the King of Hell case, and he’s surprised by the appearance of his mom! - LLH suspicious of the monk in a wheelchair?? - He Xiaohui has been buying up real estate and invites LLH over, and then has to pull rank on her son so that LLH isn’t arrested for the “crime” of “being LXY and not sharing it” - mama trying to play matchmaker for her sister - mama exposing her son by telling all the praise she heard from him - mama doesn’t think much of SGD, LXY and the other masters from Sigu and Baichuan. And then LLH agrees with her about LXY!!! -FDB pushes LLH into the custody of Yun Biqiu and Shi Shui. And then Yun Biqiu threatens him with torture! Also keep in mind this is the same guy working with JLQ and that poisoned LXY with Bicha ten years ago. - box of money in at the He/Fang residence! Who’s gonna get abducted?? Ep 29 - FDB assembling the troops to protect the women, but mom doesn’t seem too worried… and then of course she’s the one that gets abducted facepalm - LLH has escaped just in time to witness the latest abduction and chases after them, only to find out it’s TWO people?? But he follows one to an underground cavern, that turns out to be the emerald mines - FDB and LLH meet up and search the mines - where did the river stone come from? - if Niutou Mamian is dead then who is helping the “King of Hell”? - so Lian Quan (Lord of the Netherworld) poisoned himself with emerald jade and is now transferring it to the women he takes to keep himself alive. FDB agrees to work separately but with LLH to find his mom - LLH finds out the bodies of the missing girls have been found - he finds evidence of the poison being transferred - he figures out the man must have entered the houses before to be able to find the girls - from looking at the bodies he figures out it was the physician - FDB waits for news from the search and follows the lead of the river stone - he confirms there is no way for the pebble to appear in the mines by accident - while talking to Li’er he notices an extra ingredient in the residue of the medication and realizes it was the physician - LLH gets to him first and just in time, but FDB isn’t far behind. They work together to bring him down and he tries to escape only to get caught by Yun Biqiu and Shi Shui. - LLH makes himself scarce and FDB covers for him - the physician easily gives up the ice shard, but Yun Biqiu isn’t convinced he’s the real Lian Quan. He’s left with FDB for interrogation - FDB and his mom have built a prison to hold and torture the physician to find out his accomplice - (on a side note: interesting how the orthodox sects are fine with torturing people into confessing when earlier FDB was the one yelling at DFS for “torturing” confessions out of people at the beginning of the series) - He Xiaohui names her contraption after LLH, lol. - LLH figures out the accomplice is the monk. Not only that, but that he’s one of the conjoined twins – which makes the physician the other - the henchmen killed the master and wife and disguised their bodies as their own - the monk figured out he’s LXY from his Whirling Steps - he offers the real ice shard in exchange for his brother and detoxifying the poison for him which LLH agrees to - LLH turns himself into FDB’s custody - what will he tell FDB about the plan? - will he explain what he’s found out so far about SGD’s death? Or about the new mysteries? - will FDB continue treating him like a criminal? And will his mom let him? - is there anything else FDB might find out?

The thing about changing appearance is what the monk did to Li Xianyi. It's why no one recognizes him... he only 'resembles' his former self. It was brought up in episode one, but I never actually made that connection to what murder doctor said until just now.

I imagine him thinking back to all the times he was like "I have to protect you, you're defenseless!" and cringing at himself. He must be thinking that Li Lianhua was just acting this whole time while laughing at him behind his back. Especially after LLH promised him that he didn't see him as a child. No wonder he's so upset / heartbroken / angry / betrayed. And now I can tell you that earlier when you were talking about how you were hoping for a mid-series LLH is LXY reveal so they have plenty of time to reckon with the aftermath, I was legit like OHOHOHOHOOOO rubs hands together

I am on episode 10 right now, and this is my first time watching. I am honestly in awe of Li Lian Hua's ability to lie and be so smart and nonchalant. I have seen genius characters before, but the way he poker-faces lies his way through everything and his wit even leaves the audience a little disoriented. What an interesting character.

Episode 26 and 27: Finally Fang Duobing knows who Li Lianhua used to be! For me it always seemed like he is way more hurt about all the lies then anything else, and the fact Li Lianhua didn't tell him himself. How long do you think it will take for Xiaobao and Li Lianhua to reunite? xD the actual face reveal of the mastermind is close, even though its kind of obvious already who it is! but dont fret, there are a lot more secrets and some plot twists to be uncoverd xD Jiao Liqiao thinking she knows Di Feisheng the best is hilarious, bc she doesnt know him at all lol bc how else could she think Di Feisheng would appreciate her poisoning his biggest opponent so he can be number 1 in the martial arts world? as if his pride and hard work to get where he is now would ever accept an outcome like that! - he wants to win fair and square :D Also be warned: Jiao Liqiao will soon enter her final evolution, which will help her reach the hight of crazyness! (this in itself sounds crazy bc you'd think she couldnt get more insane, she can xd )

A-Fei's Entrances & Departs: Ep 22: None 🤧 Ep 23: Excellent flying skill is needed for the kill. - A-Fei appears on top of the mountain like Hello!... So funny. Lianhua yells A-Fei and he just appears to attack the opponent. Doubing calls him and he ninja blinks beside him scaring him. Then he just leaves like BYE! Ep 24: Saves the dancer like a boss. (Whisks away many times these episodes just like that) Takes out the wind chimes saving them again. Ep 25: A-Fei saving Doubing from the boulder. The rock throw at Lianhua. :laughing: Wet A-Fei... I... dazed out. Ep 26: Not much entrances perse, but whole lot of A-Fei and fighting. Di Feisheng is back! Ep 27: Sleeping beauty! Come on, it needed to be said. Blasting the prison too. Episode 26-27 notes: - The drunken master Lu Jianchi wanted to focus on drinking previous episodes. Partly it was for his sworn brother and their promise. (I love them) - Yes, this was totally Yi city arc. "I want to roam the world with him by my side to search the cure". His friend is halfly dead at this moment. I would watch this spinoff. And they way he LOOKED at him on flashbacks and present! - A-Fei and Li Xiangyi. sleeping beauty mirroring. Other having an enemy by his side and other a friend. - Lu/Jin and DFS/LLH parallels.

I have been obsessively checking my email all week so when I say I RACED to watch the latest vids... while I'm also at work... please know that it's not an exaggeration. Ep 26 - FDB finds a hidden door in the inn… but there’s an extra set of footprints! - a creature attacks LLH and DFS defends his man. They chase after it only to lose it downstairs - they meet an elder of the village and she offers them food and shelter for the night. why did she only appear now? - JLQ angry LLH and FDB aren’t dead. But she finds out not only is DFS with them but has lost his memory - finds out QWM wasn’t cured by DFS which means DFS covered for LXY, and she is NOT HAPPY - her and Feng Qing discuss “training” our amnesiac A’Fei since he’ll be trusting without his memory. Which means 1) he needs to regain his memory and FAST, and 2) they severely underestimate how distrusting he is of people - back to the village: - the village has been around for about 100 years. That’s the same amount of time Yu Louchun’s secluded mansion was on Fragrant Mountain - outsiders started coming to the village about ten years ago - the trio is served a whole meal: - DFS standing guard by the door instead of sitting - FDB is only thinking with his stomach and has to be subtly warned by LLH - elder tries to get them to drink wine but LLH quickly says all of them are fasting - so there’s evidence of multiple highly-skilled martial artists that fought in the inn. And there’s the rumor about the wine boosting inner powers. But no proof that anyone actually drank the wine and got stronger. - we also learn A’Fei doesn’t sleep in unfamiliar places. If you watch Cailian Manor again, the first scene when they’re talking about the case he looks bored, but it could also be he was about to fall asleep bcuz he wasn’t sleeping much - we get FDB and DFS one on one, sharing food and water and being the most civil they’ve ever been (without LLH present). - DFS only cares about learning and advancing in martial arts. He doesn’t care whether he’s seen as a hero or villain - Wuxin Huai in the candles compounds and affects DFS worse but FDB is affected too. Just in time for a whole hoard of creatures to attack them. And it turns out the creatures are the missing martial artists! - LLH to the rescue! He gives both of them a tiny injury so they can focus on forcing out the poison and then defends against the hoard of creatures - this time FDB has a front row seat to the fighting and it makes him more suspicious that LLH is LXY - A’Fei gets another flashback! This time to the East Sea battle at the beginning of the show - the hoard is back and FDB tries to test LLH by giving him a sword. - But LLH has already exhausted himself by fighting earlier and gets abducted – cue DFS panicked face as he watches him get carried away - Lu Jianchi to the rescue! - was supposed to meet a friend (a friend he would meet up with regularly) for competition 3 years ago and has been searching since - DFS seems a little dazed and just says “Competition?” HE JUST REMEMBERED FIGHTING LI XIANGYI!!! - a path suddenly opened up where cliffs used to be?? Could this village get any more suspicious? - FDB expressing worry for LLH and DFS just says “I won’t let anything happen to him.” And “He can’t die.” !!!!! - all that fighting and they villagers didn’t react? Almost like they’re used to it? - maybe we’ll find Lu Jianchi’s friend somewhere in the village?? - we get a very brief glance at where LLH has been taken, and now has to fight more creatures by himself - a flashback of Lu Jianchi and Jin Youdao! (psst he’s holding the gourd Lu gave LLH at the end of Girl’s Mansion arc!) - so the village has been trying to breed mind control bugs… I’m sure that’s nothing to worry about right? - villagers take the three to the cave where LLH was taken and find him unconscious. FDB is panicked and DFS checks to makes sure he’s breathing, but he was just asleep (Also! DFS’s amused little smile when LLH wakes up) Ep 27 - surprise attack by yet another martial artist turned creature, but it turns out he’s Jin Youdao! - we get a reunion with his ‘friend’ Lu Jianchi, and he’s wearing the wine gourd now - a flashback to how they met! THE HEART EYES!!!!! - it turns out he was the one that protected LLH all night, bcuz he recognized the wine gourd - not only LLH being emotionally affected by their reunion, BUT ALSO DFS! His eyes were so soft when Jin Youdao first shows up - after LLH explains how he survived the night DFS says “I’m glad you’re safe.” !!!!! - so the Lord of the Netherworld WAS here at some point and made it out? Where is he now? - the village elder laughs when asked for an antidote for the Head Bane …bcuz there isn’t one - the parallels are paralleling!! Lu/Jin and DFS/LLH: marital artists that would meet up for competition, are separated for years, and on reuniting one of them has an incurable poison? And the other won’t stop until they find a cure?? - so it turns out the ice shards they’ve been looking for are the keys to opening the box with the Karmic Bug they got from Yipin Tomb - mother bugs control child bugs, and child bugs control hosts - Karmic Bugs are considered the top tier of mind control bugs - DFS getting more flashbacks and this time LLH has a cure for the Wuxin Huai in the notes he found! - LLH figures out where the leeches are on his own - DFS not only cuts himself so LLH has some blood but just hands over his sword without any fuss or questions!!?! He trusts him so much!! - FDB not sure if they should be curing him but LLH wants his man back - JLQ and JA are here to pick up DFS, and unfortunately he’s unconscious – pretty sure he wouldn’t want to go with her - FDB goes to fight the main forces and LLH protects his man from being taken - but with FDB in danger LLH has to go help him… and exposes his identity in the process - The Li Xiangyi Reveal: - so keep in mind: LLH is poisoned with bicha and every time he fights or heals someone the poison gets worse and weakens him further. Since entering Shishou Village he has 1) fought a hoard of mutant martial artists to protect FDB and DFS, 2) was abducted to a place where he had to fight more of the mutants until Jin Youdao protected him, 3) stayed up all night creating a fire circle to stay safe and searched through the notes about the Head Bane, and for clues about the Lord of the Netherworld, and 4) just when he was about to get some sleep, was woken by FDB and DFS. - he has now just exposed himself using his soft sword to protect FDB and confirmed JLQ’s suspicions (and killed Granny Blood. She’s dead, she won’t show up again) - JLQ comes down to really truly confirm it, and LLH doesn’t deny it. Even talks like his old self. And they talk about Bicha poison and how he’s not dead - FDB clearly hears Li Xiangyi and NOTHING ELSE. He knows LLH isn’t carrying Shaoshi so he knows this must be Wenjing – the one that SGD had forged from cloud iron and is supposedly the only thing that could have killed him - JLQ tries to kill him and barely has to lift a finger to defeat her, so she throws some bombs at him and takes off with a still unconscious DFS (but at least he’ll have his memories back) - LLH immediately spits blood and faints and wakes up to a very angry FDB - (“You’ve been involved with Di Feisheng.” YEP. THEY ARE INVOVLED. They have been, and with any luck [and if DFS has anything to say about it] they will continue to be!! They’re husbands!) - Wenjing and the cloud iron: - FDB tells LLH the full details about what he was told about the cloud iron this time, which all news to LLH – he didn’t know what material the sword was made out of and he obviously had never seen the cloud iron - we get a flashback and learn Wenjing was a 18th birthday present form SGD. LXY is the one that names it. Wenjing literally means “throat cutter” which is referenced in the scene, but also LXY mentions about it being a token of their friendship. This is a reference to “a friendship/relationship you would cut your own throat for”. There’s a meta that goes into more depth about it but it has spoilers so you can’t see it yet - now LLH suspects SGD killed the remaining He family for the cloud iron but doesn’t want to ruin SGD’s image in FDB’s mind - The Breakup: - (even I call this the breakup and I don’t even ship them) - LLH absolutely wouldn’t have stopped him if FDB actually wanted to kill him. He does consider SGD’s death to be his fault even though it really really isn’t - the flute, in the novel, was apparently a gift from LLH, which is why it gets broken during the breakup. Personally I don’t think it makes sense in the show bcuz it was only in one other scene in ep 17 when he tries to discredit LLH as a physician to a crowd. - LLH once again very weak, alone and stumbling through the forest back to Lotus Tower - DFS back with JLQ and JA: - all the subordinates answer to her now and they wait outside for her order to kill him if needed (not that they would be a match for him) - she undressed him while he was asleep - he pretends he doesn’t remember anything after ep 5 to help lower her guard against him. - he can sense the people outside but they don’t move until she tells them to. DFS is definitely memorizing each of their faces so he knows who the traitors are - he plays up a headache and flirts with her to gain her trust and the entire time you can see him just barely holding it together. His face when she’s not looking is so disgusted - back to Lotus Tower to find out LLH has been sick in bed for 3 days. Luckily SXY came to take care of him … but she also thinks its weird FDB isn’t there - SXY and LLH discuss the Karmic Bugs and figure out the Nanyin descendants want to find the mother bug so they can create more child bugs and rule everything - the Wansheng Clan sigil reminds LLH of a pendant he saw once as a child… - back at JA: - JLQ in high spirits bcuz she thinks she got a lucky break. But DFS is listening in the wings to get ahead of her for once - Snow Master tries to warn her that DFS is super gay and therefore him flirting with her is very weird, but she’s too wrapped in her delusions - the man in the hood arrives to further convince her and she starts talking about her plans for DFS like she’s OG Luo Binghe - DFS finds out they know LLH is LXY now. That makes him worried for his husband - the man in the hood seems particularly against LXY, talking about making sure LXY can see him in his glory and not needing to hide… but we still don’t get an identity reveal - and of course they’ll use XZJ against LLH, he wants him dead anyway bcuz if LXY is alive then he might not get to keep QWM as a trophy wife, right? - DFS frees Wuyan and Xunming from prison (bcuz of course the people loyal to him were put in prison by her), and starts planning revenge. Love that he’s planning to play JLQ and the man in the hood against each other - DFS says he’s interested in the Rama Vessel. The question is why. Does he really want to rule the world? But then he’s said repeatedly he doesn’t care about leading JA. Or does he have something else he needs it for? - convenient spy says LLH has been working with JA, while the actual spy working with JA (and JLQ specifically) is the one doing the interrogating - LLH is NOT WELL even after another week of rest

Episode 24 and 25: One beautiful, colorful arc ended, and the nex starts with a dark foggy mystery! Friendly reminder: Everytime Li Lianhua uses Yanzhouman his death get's closer - Yangzhouman is the only thing that is keeping the poison somewhat at bay, and its running out. There are two possibillities to what happend with One-Word-Poet: Either he feigned it bc he isn't supposed to use his powers so willfully and maybe could sense other people nearby OR he actually didn't notice bc the poison is getting worse and his senses are getting wonky - he didnt hear / sense him This show really is about the revelations of who people really are: Who is Li Lianhua? Who is the big bad? Who actually killed Shan Gudao? and now: Who is the Ghost? xD Princess Shaoling (Qing'er) is giving me different feelings every time she shows up in this show: my biggest problem is the fact that she still wants to force Fang Duobing to marry her - even if he so obviously does not want to

Ep 24 - i definitely recommend going back and watching the whole case, especially paying attention to the women and Murong Yao and everything they do up to and after the murder - Mysteries Solved: 1. the flowers had mud bcuz a grave was dug under the tree 2. Yu Louchun's body was hidden to hide the fact he was bitten by a snake - directed by Chilong 3. the ice shard couldn't be found bcuz Bihuang had it (but then she dies??) 4. all the women said they wanted to stay bcuz they were hiding the fact they were the ones to steal all the treasure 5. Xin Jue was framed to take suspicion off the women and Murong Yao 6. the bell rang early bcuz Murong Yao donated moeny to the temple 7. the head guard was killed bcuz he was a witness to Murong Yao cutting off his own arm and being more familiar than a typical guest with Chilong - i do have to agree with Qing'er that it was unfair she was kept out of the loop, especially after the murder. they were gaslighting her!! saying shit about how good Yu Louchun was to them and how they were so grateful, and she was being ungrateful!! THAT WAS SUSPICOUS AS FUCK!!! and they were alienating her! does that mean they weren't planning on sharing the loot with her? also she says in ep23 she was planning to try to kill him anyway, so protecting her from the murder plans was just making her more desperate. - LLH talking about "other treasure" to catch the person who killed Bihuang and is working for JA - Li Yifu uses thundering fire bombs to try to escape - these are the same bombs that DFS was investigating and was angry about way back in ep5 - DFS pulls out the signal for JA - bcuz it was making an annoying noise. LOL!!! I love this man so much. and the goddamn hearteyes LLH has for his husband! he's so so so so fond! - the Princess Reveal! this is the greatest fucking thing about this arc and I could watch it over and over without it getting old. (and personally i think they're cute together) - on rewatch you can tell LLH ABSOLUTELY believed her when she claimed she was the princess and was pushing the two of them together. he was just waiting for the moment FDB found out. - FDB was the one constantly trying to tease LLH about QWM and thinking he was in love with her, but turnabout is fair play now that FDB has met his own fiancee. - FDB putting his foot in his mouth as he talks to her in front of everyone... to the amusement of everyone Ep 25 - FDB = a little dumb, but kind. Qing'er has him pegged! - LLH (half-heartedly) tries to convince FDB to just go home and marry her so he'll be in less danger. he knows it's not really going to work so he doesn't push it - Lu Jianchi gives LLH a wine gourd - Shi Wenjun introduces a new mystery re: SGD. - his body had armor on and supposedly only LXY's sword of the same material would be able to pierce it. - the sword has a name! 'Wenjing' which means 'throat cutter' - also we've already met this sword. he uses it against DFS in ep1 and against XZJ in ep19 - FDB covers for LXY by saying SGD wasn't wearing the armor even tho he doesn't have all the information - who is trying to frame LXY for SGD's death? and WHY?? - DFS recognizes Yangzhouman within FDB when he uses it to boost DFS's power in the cave. ...how familiar do you have to be with someone else's inner power that you recognize it on an instinctual level while you have amnesia?? - we have names for the other two holders of the ice shards! the Lord of the Netherworld (missing) and Four-Faced Qingzun (deceased). Qingzun is one of the 3 kings of JA that helped DFS build JA - FDB starts putting LLH's identity together - DFS's comment about Yangzhouman - he 'tests' LLH by watching whether he'll defend himself or not (but the thing is LLH can't use his power without harming himself [the poison!] so he will only use it in the most dire of circumstances - LLH's familiarity with DFS - he just outright confronts him and asks - which LLH outright denies - FDB tells LLH about the cloud iron which just furthers the mystery for LLH - we learn about the possible origin of the cloud iron - SGD seems more concerned about the cloud iron than the sole survivor of the He family - we find out the child died shortly after he was supposedly taken to his grandfather - DFS blackmails LLH into telling him more information about himself - SXY is back to give us a lead about the Lord of the Netherworld and is left behind again. DFS says FDB is noisy and annoying enough that he doesn't want another person around. LOL. - JLQ sends people to kill LLH and FDB. she also mentions the mountain is within Feng Qing's territory, which means the village they're looking for is in his territory (this is the underling to the man in the hood) - FDB notices LLH has some skill during the fight - DFS getting more flashbacks and getting headaches bcuz the poison isn't being suppressed as well. his memory is becoming a ticking time bomb. - FDB tries to refuse helping DFS suppress the poison - to the frustration and concern of LLH - LLH (for once) doesn't actually lie when DFS asks about what he remembered. - FDB wants to make DFS remember so he can ask about SGD's death but 1) DFS doesn't have the answer either and 2) how likely is it that he would actually answer him? - LLH implies DFS may be more of an enemy if he regains his memory to curb FDB's impulse to force DFS to remember more (nevermind that he wouldn't actually be an enemy - to LLH anyway) - how much longer will we have this A'Fei and how can he be cured? - Welcome to Shishou Village! Populaton: ...at least one father and son. Creep factor: Yi City-esque. - where are the villagers? and why are they scared? - what happened in the inn? and where are all the supposed martial artists that were there at some point?

Episode 22 and 23: I'm glad you also love this arc as much as us! I feel like the location, the situation and the murder case together make it a really "fun" arc xD Edited to add: Li Lianhua telling A-Fei that A-Fei needs his help saving "someone" - and that someone basically being himself / Li Xiangyi - is absolutely heartbreaking. I also feel like that at this point, even if he doesnt remember anything, A-Fei kinda has a feeling who he means. I have many things to say about the Princess but i feel like I should wait till the next episodes :D How Fang Duobing does not even know what the Princess looks like is truly amazing to me - usually you would think that even in a ararnged marriage like this you would have meetings with your future wife - especially if that wife is literally a Princess and your father works for the emperor On that note, can you imagine Fang Duobing just having to forcefully stay in the imperial city, locked up in the palace basically, having to deal with politics and such? I feel like that would be absolute torture for him. Because no matter what, he would not be able to just roam around the Jianghu / marial arts world again if he marries her.

The Girl's Mansion arc! I'm not really gonna go episode by episode for this since connections tend to be spread out. 1. Princess Zhaoling aka Qing'er: - our delightful ray of sunshine in this arc and FDB's fiancee. heard FDB ran away from their marriage and decided to follow him only to be kidnapped and trafficked into prostitution. - (though why the hell was she able to leave the palace without an escort and how is the entire country not on high alert with her missing? do people even know she missing?) - not at all impressed by FDB. this oblivious boy keeps trying to give her advice on how to be a better prostitute and she rightfully looks at him like he's a complete idiot - she was the one that put the chicken foot that FDB chose among the items. most likely her way of being defiant in her circumstances, and trying not to get picked to service the guests. i'm guessing if any of the other guys had picked the chicken foot they would've moved on to a different item. - jumpy around Dongfang Hao, which we learn later is bcuz she was sold by him - orders FDB around once they are alone together. she IS the princess. she's used to being the one being served not the other way around. - and nothing like a princess to humble the spoiled son of a lord. - tries to use her real identity to scare the guards into letting her go but no one believes her, which could be a good thing (we don't want it to turn into a hostage situation - more than it already is). LLH however seems to realize she's telling the truth (he does know something about hiding a famous identity) and starts very subtly playing matchmaker by including her in the investigation and allowing FDB to do most of the questioning 2. Yu Louchun aka The Creep: - invited LLH and FDB bcuz he wanted to know why Jin Mantang was killed and worried he's next. he thought JMT death was related to the ice shards and is partially right. - when he talks about why he keeps a bodyguard so close he basically says it's bcuz he would be too tempted by all the women all the time. (and if he feels any guilt at all then having the husband of one of the women that died imprisoned in your house as your bodyguard while sleeping with other imprisoned women might ruin the mood sometimes) - besides himself and his annual guests none of the people on the mountain are there willingly. the women are kidnapped and sold for opium, and the men are forced to protect him or they die from poison. the only way for any of them to leave is to die, which is how his location has remained a secret. 3. The Women: - Bihuang - the steward and most senior of the women there. was supposed to entertain Dongfang Hao according to the item he picked but claims to be in love with Yu Louchun and is punished instead. had the perfect vantage point to be able to help the murderer. created the rouge that (with the soup) put all the guests in a deep sleep. - Xifei - paired with LLH. seems to be the second most senior woman on the mountian. made sure to get her rouge on LLH's lips whe he refused a kiss. - Binrong - the one paired with Dongfang Hao when Bihuang couldn't be. - Chilong - the one paired with our dancer Murong Yao. seemed to smile genuinely at him. (and that dance is AMAZING!!! there's bts video of the whole thing here: https://x.com/jiniofthelamp_/status/1818148599106330728) 4. The Guards: - the head guard - met outside the drawbridge. the peeping tom that was the second to be killed. - Xin Jue - the Machete Ghost. Yu Louchun's personal bodyguard. his wife was trafficked by Dongfang Hao and she killed herself before he could rescue her. so far has been the scapegoat for the murderer. 5. Dongfang Hao aka The Junkie: - has been a guest every year. probably a privilege he earned by selling all if not most of the women on the mountain to Yu Louchun - the one that wanted Bihuang. she was probably never an option before bcuz she has hosting duties so he was very excited when her handkerchief showed up among the items. - when LLH tells the other men the women were all trafficked he's the one trying to wave it off and minimize it - is killed (Huzzah!) to create more evidence against Xin Jue 6. A'FEI MY BELOVED!!! - this is the time to remind you that the 'fei' in Di Feisheng means 'fly'. and he has EXCELLENT flying skill. able to fly up mountains and from peak to peak with very little effort. remember Yipin Tomb? and LLH not being phased by the "kid's" ability. instead he was just insanely fond. - shows up and looks right at LLH and says "I'd rather be with you." - LLH describing DFS's sword as big and special... yeah I bet it is. - he stays close enough that LLH can just call him to come fight and expose Xin Jue as the Machete Ghost - more pouting! and LLH calls out his sulking! and then he pouts more! he's so cute! - "It's fine that [LLH] orders me around." That's Husband Privileges right there!! - FDB tells him information that gives him a flashback and LLH is NOT HAPPY. oh he's sooo annoyed. remember, the reason DFS lost his memory is bcuz he isolated the Wuxin Huai in an acupoint in his head in order to save his martial arts. if he remembers things too fast then the Wuxin Huai starts attacking him again and he could either (at best) lose his martial arts (DFS would hate this more than anything) or (at worst) DIE (DFS would also hate this, and LLH would like his husband to live please and thank you). Things still to be figured out: - why did the flower have splashes of mud? - where is the other half of Yu Louchun's body? and why was it hidden? - why did the temple's bell ring early? - who is the murderer that worked with Bihuang? - where is the ice shard? (and with JLQ and the man in the hood also looking for them is there someone among the guests that working for one of them?) - why did all of the women (except Qing'er) basically defend Yu Louchun? and they want to stay? not a SINGLE other woman wants to leave?

Episode 20 and 21: Hello again! Su Xiaoyong just casually moved into a moving house with 3 men, either she trusts them too much, or knows how to protect herself bc what xD But also, i still wonder where they all sleep??? Because that house is not big, and so far we have only seen two beds, one on ground floor, one upstairs - and it does not look like there would even be space for a third. This leads me to thoughts such as: Even before Xiaoyong moved in, there where 3 men but 2 beds, did one just sleep on the floor? There would technically be space for that - and characters considered it would 100 % be Fang Duobing But now with 3 men and one woman... pretty sure someone has to share beds? Even if not, i am pretty sure that it would be considered highly inappropriate for Xiaotong to even sleep in the room with one of them, tho it would already be considered a scandal that she is in that house at all lol So my headcanon is that our boys all share one bed, or at least one room, and she took over the other bed : 'D

Ep20 - A'FEI MY BELOVED!!! - DFS gets the purest form of Nanyin incense (Wuxin Huai) injected into his body when trying to confront the man in the hood. JLQ has been using it on DFS for days at this point which is why he had trouble with the man in the hood.This incense: - is addictive - can put a person into a dream-like state - has pain relieving properties - can ruin a person's martial arts ability - can make a person susceptible to influence - DFS back at the waterfall after being poisoned! It's the same waterfall in the back hill of Sigu Sect that he was at in ep18 which means he went to Sigu Sect after being betrayed by his own people. (There's a brillant meta by my friend about DFS and waterfalls which you can read here: https://www.tumblr.com/bbcphile/732830065538285568/private-waterfall?source=share. there's no spoilers so it's safe to read now!) - he writes on his hand before he passes out in the water and we later find out he was writing "Find Li Lianhua" - this is bcuz he knows he's about to lose his memory and is leaving instructions for finding safety - this is also the equivalent of writing 'If Found Return to Li Lianhua' which if he had been found by someone 1) not blind and 2) that didn't know who he was, it could've helped him get back to LLH faster (and luckily Liu Rujing WAS blind or he might have recognized DFS) - (btw I ran a poll tournament of Feihua's most unhinged moments and this is what won)(i personally don't agree bcuz there are more moments yet to come...🤭) - DFS is picked up by Liu Rujing who tries to sell him in a ghost marriage. DFS in WEDDING ROBES!!! - DFS and LLH have now both been in wedding clothes! HUSBANDS!!! - LLH convinces FDB that they can "use" DFS in order to keep him close and protect him from the traitors in Jinyuan Alliance - if you didn't quite catch LLH's explanation: DFS isolated the incense's poison so he would lose his memories rather than lose his martial arts skills. he'd rather be able to physically protect himself above all.(and given his backstory you can't blame him) - more DFS backstory!!! - the master of Di Fortress is training children (boys) to kill, which DFS is not okay with but his choices are die or kill to survive - we find out the master had some way to control the boys. what did he put in their bodies to force them to submit? - the ENTIRE scene when DFS wakes up! - LLH not surprised or worried at all when DFS threatens him (hands!) - DFS being able to tell LLH isn't telling the whole truth despite his memory loss - "You saved one person." "Who?" "Me." - LLH's soft-ass, fond-ass smile 😭 - "It seems you're really important to me." 😭 - (also when LLH says he's DFS's "master" he's using the same word for master that was used by the master in DFS's childhood (zhuren) which is why DFS says he feels wrong calling LLH that) - outside at the table we find DFS can taste things! - back ep8 he ate LLH's bad cooking without comment and LLH was the one that mentioned DFS can't taste things - but now that he's lost his memories he CAN taste things?? the fandom has theories: - 1) he has always been able to taste things but trained himself out of reacting in any way, and lied about this to explain his strange diet (LLH also mentioned he usually only eats plain white rice). without his memories he doesn't remember this training or the lie. - 2) "not being able to taste" is a trauma response to his childhood and bcuz he doesn't remember all of it, he has temporarily regained his sense of taste. - DFS without his memories is a lot more open with his expressions! He smiles more, he's more open with his disbelief, and doesn't hide behind a stoic exterior. He even POUTS!!! He's so cute! - even without knowing who he is or being able to believe everything LLH tells him, he knows he wants LLH to live! - DFS also gets a new mask! the previous one was black leather (ep8-13) and the new one is metal. LLH already had it prepared for him too! (it's not the one LLH was using either but a mirror image of it. almost like they're two halves of the same whole or something...😏) - we find out from LRJ that SGD was secretly researching Nanyin before he died and that of the 4 people working for him, LRJ was the only one excluded (at first) - XZJ is continuing his asshole ways behind the scenes to smear LXY's name - Shi Shui is onto him and tries confronting him about it - QWM is also onto him and tries confronting him about it only for him to play innocent Ep21 - to QWM: GO OFF QUEEN!!! 👑👑👑 - Local man murdered by his bride, but unfortunately he's still alive - (are you perhaps regretting that the groom didn't die during the wedding? it would be understandable if you were) - the Sigu Sect Tea Party (aka Smear LXY's Name Party) - something to keep in mind is that besides XZJ and QWM no one KNOWS LXY is LLH. they all came together to smear the name and reputation of a man they all think is DEAD. What is even the point?! - XZJ trying to play innocent like "Oh I didn't expect the vicious rumors I spread on purpose to get so out of hand... That wasn't the plan AT ALL..." 🙄 - FDB shows up to defend LXY but lbh who's going to listen to this kid that wasn't around 10 years ago and has no first hand knowledge? - He Zhang conveniently shows up (with "evidence") to bad mouth LXY - this is the fourth guy that worked for SGD (and the one that was supposedly "missing" as of the end of ep19) - Ep3: he was one of the first ones to call for abandoning/disbanding Sigu Sect after the battle - Ep13: he's shown among the subordinates that were with SGD when he died - Ep16: again shown to be present at SGD's death, he helps explain how they were "ambushed" by Jinyuan Alliance, and SGD was killed by the Three Kings - QWM arrives 👑 LIKE A QUEEN 👑 and tells everyone "If you're gonna talk shit, get the fuck out of my house!" and then murders XZJ AGAIN. (unfortunately he survived yet again) - QWM goes to LLH to beg forgiveness for XZJ and to ask that LLH not hold a grudge. GIRL, LLH is NOT the one you should be worried about holding a grudge!!! so far XZJ has: - told LLH to jump off a cliff and die - tried to kill him (and LLH only has 10% of his power left and beat him effortlessly) - hosted a party of people that hate LXY in order to smear his name - DFS asking if QWM is LLH's lover: NO!!! YOU ARE!!! Sweetie, YOU ARE HIS HUSBAND!!! (well... ex... or future... it could go either way, really. it IS Schrondinger's Divorce for them) (Also he POUTS when LLH smacks his arm!!!) - FDB tries to cure DFS's "amnesia" to get answers about what happened 10 years ago, but even if DFS had his memories he couldn't tell him. that's what DFS and LLH have been investigating - and OF COURSE FDB actually takes to heart the rumors he's heard when they're told by untrustworthy people who are twisting half truths - NEW CASE!!! the Girl's Mansion is one of my favorites! (and the case when i actually started liking FDB) Sadly we are separated from DFS once again, but how long will that last? 🤭 - if no one is supposed to know where Yu Louchun lives, where did all these women come from? 🤔

Episode 18 and 19: This time around i dont' have much to say XD i loved that there was some sort of closure for Qiao Wanmian, and I do understand why she still feels so much, and so conflicted - she thought the last thing Li Xiangyi every "heard" of her is that she's breaking up with him, that she can't love him anymore Also Li Lianhua at this point is just giving his internal power away like candy - as if not every single use of it shortens his life :D

Ep 18 - DFS and LLH walking through pear trees in bloom! Pear blossoms in Chinese weddings represent a lasting and loving marriage and hope of new life!!! - DFS fights 1 on 7 (without his sword!) - they supposedly aren't holding back and yet he effortlessly keeps them at bay (there's meta that he tends to only bring as much power to a fight as his opponent does. ie: he and LXY Mihawk-ed a ship together but the fights seem fairly balanced even unarmed and outmanned) - he avoids directly engaging with Shi Shui, mostly dodging her attacks - but he's decidedly less gentle with Yun Biqiu (the one that worked with JLQ to poison LXY). Towards the end of the fight you can see him punch YBQ hard enough in the chest that he stays down while the other 6 try to finish the fight - LLH says he was leaving when the others show up but he ended up sticking around... to watch the show maybe??? -DFS hanging out at a waterfall on the back hill of Sigu Sect territory hears that QWM has been poisoned and immediately knows LLH will hurt himself to cure her - he shows up just as LLH collapses and is SO MAD - but he still protects LLH's identity for him and makes everyone else think he was the one that cured her - he waits back at the same waterfall for the trade and Wuyan calls him out on helping LXY (the things Wuyan knows about DFS and LXY...) - JLQ using poison to harm LXY (again) has her well and truly on DFS's shit list - LLH's health is rapidly declining the more he uses his qi and Guan Hemeng tells him he now has 4 months to live - QWM recognizes Yangzhouman within her body and realizes LLH is LXY despite his (and DFS's) effort to hide his identity - (she doesn't seem to notice that DFS covered for him? or realize that DFS must have recognized him too?) - the entire conversation between QWM and LLH I'm sure is supposed to read as him lying to her to save her further heartbreak since he's dying and he doesn't want her to know. But it reads much more as a conversation where he's telling her he was a victim of compulsory heterosexuality and he didn't realize he was gay back then - DFS shows up right after she leaves and finds that LLH is still weak from earlier and helps him out with his own qi. This time it's a lot gentler than when he did it in ep 13 Ep 19 - DFS brings Xunming (one of the 3 kings) to clarify with LLH how SGD died - they tell LLH SGD sent the 3 kings a challenge letter (ep 12 and 13-SGD was the one that wanted to go to war with Jinyuan Alliance and was angry with LXY for agreeing to a truce. and in ep 16 we hear from other subordinates SGD distracted and fought the 3 kings to protect them) - but it turns out the letter isnt in his writing and Xunming says he was already dead when they arrived??? - FDB finds LLH out in the courtyard and claims he was 'hiding'. To be fair LLH had been disturbed in his room by 3 separate groups of people. He just wanted some peace and quiet for himself. - QWM pulls away from XZJ during lunch bcuz she knows if he would be able to fell and recognize Yangzhouman within her as she did. - when XZJ decides to become sect leader its bcuz he "can do whatever LXY can do and do it even better" not bcuz he actually cares about upholding justice - Wansheng Clan at the revival ceremony - Feng Qing is the one that's been working with JLQ (ep 8) and the clan ZZMZ said would be the future rulers of the martial world (ep 16) - Feng Qing is not the boss just the public face. the boss is the hooded man that meets with JLQ in ep 14 - XZJ unfortunately figures out who LLH is and decides he needs to die. (remember at the wedding reception he was about to say how good it was that LXY died so that he could have the girl) - XZJ arranges the meeting at LXY's grave to remind LLH he's supposed to be dead - XZJ tells LLH to kill himself by jumping off the cliff - XZJ tries to fight him to the death. (but even as weak as he is LLH is still better than him.) - and we the first glimpse of the soft sword since ep 1! LXY used it to distract DFS at the end of the fight and then skewered DFS to the mast of the ship with Shaoshi (the sword from ep 9 and 10) - but THEN QWM arrives to break up the fight and LLH covers for XZJ by saying they were just sparring... but the man was attempting to MURDER him (LLH I swear we will get you a will to live. supposed friends shouldn't wish you dead when they find out you aren't already) - DFS calling out JLQ on going behind his back while also thanking her for it to get more information out of her. (sweetie you need to kill her. please kill her) - JLQ now freaking out about he knows and asks Snow Master to get incense for her. As in the Nanyin incense, Wuxin Huai, that can ruin people's martial arts and make them susceptible to control... - FDB finds the whereabouts of Liu Rujing (one of the four that worked for SGD) and says that of the four two died and one is missing. I wonder who the missing one is...

I also loved the ending of his convo with the "we were young and didn't know what we were feeling.....". That hit so hard and good. They were so YOUNG. He didn't want to hurt those around him, but he was FINALLY articulating some of his own valid feelings! For these characters, it was very much needed!

The character is a great example of how one's insecurities can lead to bad decisions/karma. You have to deal with your own issues/insecurities instead of foisting them onto others as if it is their problem/fault instead of your own. We can all sympathize with insecurity...and the beginnings of his arc, but he cultivated those doubts/thoughts into a cauldron full of vileness and let them drive him into making wrong choices and hurting others. Worse, he kept making the same bad choices without LEARNING anything.....

Ep 18&19 I really like that they gave the het love interest closure, so that they can both move on from this. (Also, it is of course because Li Lianhua is dying, as we established again in Ep 18 with the new genius doctor telling him he's got 4 months left. So he's not going to break her heart with that all over again...) I also loved the things he said about: "We were young and didn't know what we were feeling. I am happy roaming out in the world, finally free." Which can be interpreted as: "Well, I was very young and put on a high pedestal with very het expectations, sooo ...and then I left all this behind and maybe figured out that I'm not as straight as I was expected to be." Also, the peace talks with Di Feisheng probably didn't help ;D Who knows :D And then we get saved from discovery by A-Fei and come back home to a homecooked meal by Xiaobao, finally accepting that he's in our life and staying. Yes. Also: "If Li Xiangyi knew that 10 years later there would be a person who understands him so well, he would be happy." T.T ♥ This is a very strong point of why I love Fang Duobing so much: He never forgets that his hero is a person as well. He knows that Xiangyi had his faults, and he accepts that, but still he respects and loves the ideals Xiangyi stood for and still stands for them even if others tell him it's naive of him. And he's not taking shit from powerful people. He see's through all this Sigu Sect revival farce and is like: "Yeah, no. This is not what the Sigu Sect should stand for, I'm out." Proceeds to move in with his new best friend. ♥ Meanwhile A-Fei is also welcomed home with a homecooked meal, with very opposite vibes and results though. Also, old dude suggesting crazy lady should break and re-train A-Fei like an attack animal.... they clearly do not know his background... others have tried, as we've seen in flashbacks... Another lovely reaction, thank you ♥♥♥

Ep 17: Appears from no where, perfectly framed behind curtains and in MATCHING COLORED ROBES with Lianhua. Ok. It was over 10 years ago. Used to be a website called mangafox where you could read lots of manga, manwha, etc for free. Most of it was scanned illegally (I was poor and desperate back then) from other countries and translated into English. And this story was one of them. I tried to search their site, but they have changed a lot. It had a name that was different than "Mysterious Lotus Casebook", but if I can find a link to it somewhere, I promise I come back and share it here on this thread. That scroll hanging at Sugu sect of Li Xangyi looks like the art form that book, so there has to be a connection!

Ep 16 - gotta say I low-key ship Yang Yunchun and Shi Shui. I have yet to see anyone else comment on them in the fandom but they have such twink4dyke energy. YYC is such a puppy around her in earlier episodes, and in this one she gets impressed by him. - FDB exercising one of his most annoying traits and not. listening. He's planning this whole future and you have LLH clearly saying he wants no part of it. He's been saying it since ep 1... (and the roof top is before there's an added knowledge of danger). - LLH's plan up to this point was to find Shan Gudao's body and then die. The only reason FDB was around is bcuz DFS poisoned him with Gang Qi, in an effort to keep him alive. DFS literally blackmailed LLH into living longer. - LLH was only half-faking his "sleepiness/drunken-ness" after fighting ZZMZ. Every time he uses his sword skills or heals someone with his qi, the bicha poison gets worse and his life expectancy gets shorter and as of ep 10 that was 6 months. - so JLQ massacres a sect -> LXY tries to kill her -> DFS saves her -> ??? -> DFS avoids and shuns her -> she hates LXY ... I wonder if LXY was mad at him for saving her??? - DFS is trying so hard to protect LLH's identity. He brushes off JLQ's concerns but that's the biggest tell. And THEN she says "Why don't I kill him for you?" and his FACE!!! His 'how-dare-you-threaten-my-husband' face! Bcuz she already poisoned him! LLH is dying bcuz of her and that was NEVER what DFS wanted! and she offers to kill him again so he is Not Happy. Ep 17 - LLH not doing well. Between helping FDB with the Gang Qi and using his sword skills the poison has only gotten worse. - FDB learns the truth of his birth parents. He Xiaolan deserved better than she got and she tried to protect her son. But he's too much like her. And we meet He Xiaohui!! She is amazing and glorious and I love her so much! - The Wedding: - LLH revisits his old residence and we get more flashbacks. - LXY shown sparring against both SGD and XZJ. - at 18 LXY was being pressured into getting married to QWM, but he died at 20 and she had broken up with him via letter a month before the final battle - also in that flashback, LXY says he'll make sure there will be candies at HER wedding not OUR wedding... - XZJ not thrilled to see LLH. But once he's drunk he was grateful for the confirmation that LXY is dead, and was about to say he's glad he's dead. (So that he can have the girl) - LLH notices DFS immediately and DFS can tell when he's been noticed ...and they're wearing matching green robes!! - DFS doesn't kill women. Period. You heard it from the man himself. That's why when he threatened QWM in ep 10 LLH brushed him off, bcuz he already knew that. (But maybe he should make an exception... and soon.) not the first time they've matched (nor the last so keep an eye out) - (the same) matching green in ep5 - matching red for their official sect leader robes - not technically the robes but the masks were complementary to each other (ep 9 & 10) - matching blue in Cailian Manor - and now the wedding!

Episode 16 and 17: Hello again! Have you noticed Li Lianhuas different hairpieces? They all look like he could have made them himself + they are almost all lotus-themed! I also come with some information regarding the translation again! For some reason they translate Su Xiaoyong calling Li Lianhua as "Mr. Li", but in actually she calls him Li dàgē, she also calls Guan Hemeng "Guan dàgē" 大哥 dàgē can mean eldes brother / big brother (used as a polite adress for a man the same age as you) - or funnily enough can also be translated as "gang leader" or "boss" xD Where as Qiao Wanmian calls Li Lianhua acutally Mr. Li "Li xiānsheng" 先生 Edited to add: I completly forgot to add this sad thing to remember / notice: in the literal last scene between Di Feisheng and Li Lianhua A-Fei says "If you had taught Fang Duobing Yangzhouman 10 Years ago he could heal you now" This let's us know that Li Lianhua is willingly choosing to die. Because he could have literally taught anyone Yangzhouman 10 years ago with the plan to save himself.

All the scenes of Li Lianhua in green during the lotus wedding dress arc....it is the SOFTEST he has looked in whole series and I truely love it. If anyone can articulate WHY he appears the softest during this arc, I'd appreciate! is it the color green? His slight hair style change? What? It make both Fei and Duobing want to protect him. Also , it showed how Fei and Lianhua are same age versus Lianhua and Duobing with close of 10 year age gap. So funny! Duobing just wants to be the protector of Lianhua! So sweet!

Ah.....the love triangle. This is one of those rare instances where I see how poly could work. People fill/fit different needs/aspects to our lives. and for Li Lianhua both of those boys complement different aspects of his personality/life. It was so good to see that he felt and really appreciated/relished the different relationships he had with both of them. So hard to explain..... Fang Duobing meets the intellectual and softness aspect (the Protector), and Di Feisheng meets the physical and 'hard' aspect (the equals in martial arts). Later in series, even Di Feisheng and Fang Duobing will see common ground. Li Lianhua is definately the pivital point to the triangle.

So....funny story..... The story arc about the wedding dress FINALLY gave me the I-SWEAR-I-HAVE-SEEN-THIS vibes. And then I realized.....I READ the graphic novel this story is based off of years ago! This adaptation is so good that it used VISUALS directly from the graphic novel! Many of the really good cinematographic shots copy that art work and it is so beautiful. If anyone gets a chance to read/view the art in the graphic novel.....you will so see what I mean!

I'm dying! Brittany's reaction in Episode 16 is 1000 percent on point, I too was clutching my chest during the break-up scene and watching Di Feisheng like a hawk for any sign of hetero, to which the show said "hold my beer, we're making the queer subtext text". I also JUST now clocked the Subtext Significance of the reference Fang Duobing made to the moon being beautiful as he drank on the roof with LLH. Ep 16+17 Head full of cats, clearly. Yup. Cray-cray. But if insane, why pretty? :DDD Di Feisheng is clearly too gay for these forward flirting attempts. Especially from someone who he suspects has betrayed him. On another note: Fang Duobing now knows his biological parents. And we've met his mum! Master He is wonderful, I love her. There is a reason everybody is afraid of her, and it's not just because she owns Tianji Hall, the richest sect in the world. You can understand why she is so protective of her son, seeing how her sister ended up, and with how sick he was as a child. It is an interesting parallel between Second Sister He and Fang Duobing... Also, very interesting to get a perspective from someone who is not Li Lianhua about Shan Gudao. Then we move on to the wedding. Qiao Wanmian is so beautiful and her robes and hair jewelry are amazing! Also, she's very badass when she gets to be. Everything I want to add to that is spoilers, so, we'll find out ;D And then A-Fei turns up! In matching green robes to his rival... and of course promptly threatens him into co-operating... as you do. We're not even at the half-way point... Looking forward to many more cliff-hangers with you :D ♥♥♥

Episode 14 and 15: Hello again! I love every reaction you do because your thoughts are like i just said them aloud :D The Su Xiaoyong pretending to be Guan Hemeng was completely lost in translation! I only noticed it in my first watch because i heard them always saying "Guan xiōng" wich essentially means "brother Guan" - but it still gave away immediately that this was a woman trying to pretend to be a man - bc honestly she didnt even try xD I also come with some fun facts again! 1. Yang Yunchun (the dude in purple robes) who is known as the Royal Dragon was in the Yu Citiy case where we saw him apprehend the criminals with the help of the pretty lady in purple with a whip, Shi Shui! - He actually works for the puplic prosecution office! What we never really find out is that this character is actually supposedly really really strong! In the "Book of 10,000" that lists the ranking of the strongest martial artiist, Yang Yunchun the Royal Dragon is the second strongest on the list! 2. Yang Yunchun's voice actor is the same voice actor as "The Untamed's" Jin Ling!

Ep 14 +15 Sooo, Di Feisheng established a personal guard of 10/12? women, you say? This wonderful gay man, of course he did :DDD which in turn caused crazy lady to burn with jealousy and kill them all in the ambush, naturally. I love how they all are delusional in the thinking that Di Feisheng will forgive her for that. As we've seen, he's got such a forgiving nature.... >.> And the hilarious trope of: That obvious female is a man! Yes, she's wearing her hair like a man and wearing men's clothes... but everything else is woman-shaped and she doesn't even try to change her voice... and then everyone is surprised at the reveal :DDD every time they use this... Not sure if anyone has mentioned yet but Li Lianhua's name, Lianhua means "lotus flower", so it's doubly hilarious that Fang Duobing is so mad at Li Lianhua in Episode 13, and goes to the restaurant where they serve him an entire eight course meal where every single dish is lotus themed LOL. No wonder he flipped the table!! Oh, also worth noting, the Cailian Manor case had lotus flowers blooming from corpses... much like how Li Lianhua was reborn out of the "corpse" of Li Xiangyi. ouch ouch ouch.

YAY!!! Eps 12 and 13, the end of the Cailian Manor case/arc. This is gonna get long again bcuz SO MUCH gets revealed. Ep 12 notes: - FDB says he learns 10 things from every mistake. Someone tell me why it is this boy gets abandoned multiple times and still decides to trail after LLH anyway. Also he has ZERO money sense. His father is the Minister of Revenue (the one that raised him) and he doesn't know how to handle money??? - Guo Huo tells FDB he could never understand the pain of his life. But FDB was also engaged to be married (to the princess) and ran away to escape it. Guo Huo decided to be a murderer, so that's on him. - DFS standing vigil as LLH digs up the coffin. I tend to read this as LLH needed to do it himself, and DFS knew this. Also LLH is still under the impression that DFS, if not ordered, then allowed his subordinates to kill his shixiong. - Jiao Liqiao and Yun Biqiu working together again... I'm sure that'll be fine. - THE TREATY: - negotiated, drawn up, and signed by LXY and DFS IN SECRET - neither SGD nor the other high-ranked members of the sect had any idea about it before LXY suddenly announced it. and SGD was about to take the entire sect to go attack JYA - (how often did they meet up? and where? for how long?) - is this how LLH ended up with DFS's Yingzhu Armor?? bcuz it would've been worn as an inner layer and clearly he didn't take it off a corpse after the battle. Ep 13 notes: - FDB once again abandoned. To be fair though, LLH said "Why are we going to BC" and "You're leaving soon" and was talking about FDB's journey as separate from his own. But FDB only hears what he wants to... - LLH is an equal opportunity abandoner. He tries to leave DFS behind too, but DFS saw through him. - The attempts to cure Bicha - Going to Medicine Demon (the one who invented Bicha) is a good start, but DFS didn't even tell him who he was treating or what he was being treated for - DFS's hand when the qi transfer fails!! The way it hovers in the air! (BTW there's fic for this scene) - DFS closing his eyes like he's barely holding it together when the snakes don't work - The Wangchuan Flower which is also translated as Styx Flower in future episodes. Yes as in the Styx river, the river the dead need to cross to be reincarnated/get to the underworld - THE TREATY PART 2: - Part of why LLH blames himself so much is bcuz of the treaty. Imagine agreeing to a truce without talking to any of your council bcuz you believe you know best, then your shixiong is killed and you go to war anyway. He thinks it was his bad judgment that caused everything in the first place - (and if you subscribe to the thought they were in a secret relationship before the war, it hits even harder. the last ten years has been their divorce era) - (this is also why eps 6-12 are INSANE re: DFS and LLH being fond and trusting each other) - but DFS points out he had no reason to want SGD dead, and the people that supposedly killed him couldn't have. LLH believes him (even if he doesn't want to) but its been ten years so he doesn't think it matters at this point, and that forces DFS to change tracks - Fang Duobing - DFS says SGD and He Xiaolan (2nd young mistress and his birth mother) were in a relationship 18 years ago. That makes FDB 18... AT MOST. The fandom and the official artbook say he's 20, but I will die on this hill. (If you take into account time for pregnancy, he should still be 17.) - since he's SGD's son, that means LLH shifts his thinking from 'nephew of my shixiong' to 'my nephew'. That's why he starts calling him Xiaobao, a name usually only used by family members. - once again this boy has no money sense. He immediately spent all the money LLH gave him, (leaves half of what he bought in the woods on finding LLH gone) then walks into a restaurant and asks for the most expensive dishes. - upon being kicked out he goes "How much could [jade dishes] cost? Ten dollars?" - in the fight with DFS, DFS is absolutely holding back. 1) not using his sword, 2) didn't go for a killing blow, 3) he doesn't consider FDB worthy of his full effort. He doesn't want FDB dead, just in enough mortal peril that LLH is forced to continue living in order to take care of him - DFS raised in kill-or-be-killed environment. We only get a little teaser in this episode but it explains so much about him and his honor code - JLQ now aware DFS suspects her. What will she do? - FDB now knows A'Fei = DFS, but still no clue about LLH = LXY. - FDB telling LLH not to save the person DFS wants saved bcuz they must be a bad person, AND LLH AGREEING. Meanwhile DFS would like his husband to have a will to live, please and thank you. - I can't find the post I saw before with the proper translations but Yangzhouman roughly translates to something like "large city" and Suzhoukuai to "small city" which is why LLH tells FDB the names are "almost the same" to hide what he's really teaching him. - re ^^: inner powers in this universe are unique to the individual, kinda like golden cores in MDZS only not as physical, but people who were taught in the same way would have similar ones (think Jiang Cheng and WWX being more similar than say, Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan). - inner powers are also recognizable to others that know them, whether through an attack or by reading someone's pulse. FDB has never felt Yangzhouman before, only heard of it, which is why he doesn't realize what it is - only two inner powers are ever mentioned by name: Windy Poplar (Beifang Baiyang) which is DFS's, and Yangzhouman which is LXY's.

To add on, the name "Xiao Bao" doesn't exist in the original novel but was later created by the producer. During the drama shooting, the actor of Fang was sick and hurt himself several times, so the crew thought the name "many illnesses" might have brought him bad luck, so they added this nickname into the show to limit the usage of this "jinx name"—such a thoughtful and caring crew and producer. The producer passed away when the show was on air. Later, on his daughter's birthday, the whole crew, Li, Fang, Di, and other characters, celebrated her birthday together on his behalf. T_T

Episode 12 and 13: If you tell you this show is gonna go even wilder with its plot, would you believe me :D Today i only have some fun facts for you! 1. Li Lianhua from these episodes on calls Fang Duobing more an more Fang Xiaobao or only Xiaobao! Xiao Bao 小宝 in the literal sense can mean something along the lines of "little treasure" - it can be used as a form of endearment and in this case He Xiaofeng (his aunt) told us in an earlier episode that its his nickname / milk name - something that only his family / very close family friends would call him! 1.5 On that note you might want to know that Fang Duobing is literally named "many illnesses" 多病 - it was mentioned that his parents didn't give him a "real" name because he was so sick and they didnt think he would live that long. - My personal headcanon is that that is why they started calling him Xiao Bao as a nickname! 2. There are quite some voice actors in this we actually know! The voice actress for Jiao Liqiao (red evil pretty saintess) was the same VA they used for Wang Lingjiao (Wen Chao's girlfriend). The VA for Yun Biqiu (dude with gray streak who poisend Li Xiangyi) was also in The Untamed as the VA for Lan Jingyi xD There are more, but i will keep those for other episodes :3

The way I see the dynamic is: German Shepard (DFS) trying to play with a Belgian Malinois (LLH) but a Yorkie (FDB) keeps getting in the way. You ever watch shepards playing? As long as the sound is off it looks like they're playing, but when the sound is on it sounds like they're trying to kill each other... like a certain pair of husbands. And FDB - the rich, spoiled young master - constantly reads as one of the those spoiled lap dogs that barks at everything and everyone. Ep 10 notes: - Li Lianpeng and Li Lianhua is Lotus Pod and Lotus Flower respectively. That's why the masters of BC look at him weird - When asked about Lotus Tower origins, LLH says he made it out of wood from "a big shabby boat floating on the sea"... That was DFS's ship. The ship from the first episode. - They did lay breadcrumbs for LLH being immune to other poisons in an eariler episode! In ep 5, LLH walks into the Miasma of Life and Death and is totally fine, whereas we litterally watch a bird fly in and die immediately, and Shi Shui (purple whip lady) says it would kill you so she and FDB have to wait for it to naturally dissipate. - LLH blames himself for the deaths of the 58 heroes and Sigu Sect falling apart but wouldn't let FDB blame himself for his servant's death in ep 3. LLH please take your own advice. - DFS losing his shit over the bicha poison. I've rewatched this scene SO MANY TIMES. A round of applause for Xiao Shunyao (DFS) and his acting because its the microexpressions during the confrontation that get me every time. He cares so so so so much, and he's so hurt that LLH doesn't. Ep 11 notes: - This is partially relevant to ep 10 re: DFS's (empty?) threats: - threatens to kill QWM >> LLH brushes him off - threatens to wipe out BC >> LLH calls his bluff - says he's going to torture Guo Qian >> was actually searching rooms - says he'll kill FDB when he gets his power back >> ...remains to be seen but also seemed to be joking? (was possibly trying to assess how much Li I-dont-care-anymore Lianhua cared about him?) - As an addendum to ^^: FDB has been provoking/trying to provoke DFS into fights, but DFS has been brushing him off... until he gets yeeted into the pond. And then he's Actually Mad, and LLH is Actually Annoyed at FDB/Worried about something happening to FDB - LLH serving DFS tea (he does it twice!! first at the restaurant then later that night) but refusing to serve FDB - LLH goes to see DFS when he's trying to puzzle out what happened to Shi Hun - Everything about the wedding dress - LLH wanted DFS to wear it first - DFS escorting LLH to the mirror - DFS being high-key Panicked when LLH falls down the hill and goes into the pond - ...but then he's joking about LLH being weak once he's out and safe again... and then Concerned when he sees the bruises on the back of his neck (from hitting the rock, not a hickey) - DFS and LLH having conversations with just their eyes. FDB calling out their tacit understanding. TACIT UNDERSTANDING (...like they're married or something) SO much still to look forward to. It just gets better and better!!! Episode 10 and 11: Hello again! This is the case where the trio-dynamic really starts, and we all love it xD Now i do not know if at this point you already watched the next episode (in which case this confuion might have already cleared up), but just in case: Shi Hun is not the guy Li Lianhua is desperatly searching the body for. Shi Hun was a former coroner of the Jinyuan Alliance who apparently was in charge of Shan Gudao's body. Shan Guado is Li Lianhua's martial sect brother, his shixiong, who was killed by the Jinyuan Alliance and they took his body. - So they want to know where Shi Hun is / if he is alive because he might know what happend to Shan Gudao's body! I also have a fun fact again: Li Lianhua is always introduced as Physician Li in the english subtitles, but what they actually use is 李神医 lǐ shēn yī , which literally translate to something along the lines of "miracle doctor Li", "witch doctor Li" or "divine doctor Li" - literally referring to a doctor who is either extremly skilled or a doctor who treats cures people through supernatural powers like a god (神 can literally mean god/deity) (anyone with better knowledge feel free to correct me if i said anything wrong - my mandarin is still at its very beginner stages)

Ep 10 & 11: The Cailian Manor arc! It's so much fun. Even A-Fei has fun, especially when he joins forces with Fang Duobing to make Li Lianhua wear a wedding dress :D Little steps. Fang Duobing yeeting him into the pond is never not funny. The trio is reluctantly coming together. It's so beautiful. Also: Iconic line form Lianhua: "I never lie." he says, lying. Another note to Ep 8: I will never not imagine Fang Duobing and Di Feisheng spitefully sharing the one guest bed in the Lotus tower and end up cuddling because FDB is an octupus. :DDD Li Lianhua said it was big enough for two, but we've seen it in the background. Oh my goodness, you’re continuing on this journey! This easily became one of the best Wuxia dramas in the past decade. I can’t begin to explain how different and intriguing this show is, and the impact it brought on the Wuxia industry. There are deep psychological aspects behind this show, and it fits Chinese traditional cultural concepts very well. Being absolutely objective, no actor in hindsight would’ve been able to play this role any better. Cheng Yi did a very good job, he puts everything into his acting and he’s known to be good at both 文戏 and 武戏，which is literature and action acts. Most actors use stunt substitutes in the Chinese entertainment industry (its a known fact), but Cheng Yi doesn’t, he does all the difficult moves by himself as long as it’s doable. He got himself all kinds of injuries, and despite that, he still refused to use substitutes in his acts. In his previous dramas, he went under water and did all kinds of stunts mid-air with a fractured leg. He also got sent to the hospital in a stretcher because of his waist injury. He didn’t take one day off and continued, but was mocked by many. He really shouldn’t be overlooked. Despite all kinds of opportunities, he’s still taking on Wuxia acts, which is one of the hardest challenges you can take as an actor. Chinese traditional costumes consists of 6-7 layers, he has to do high difficulty stunts with really heavy hair in the sun, the temperature’s currently 40 degrees in China. He could get the same amount of money by taking on modern roles, but he didn’t. The stunts are crazy btw, a behind the scene just dropped yesterday, he did professional gymnastics actions. There are lots of people at the outdoor filming site everyday, and he has to hang in mid air and do all kinds of flips for hours in blasting heat. His current working hours is around 12 a day on average, and he often get off work at 3 or even 5 in the morning. He’s known to be a very focused person when it comes to his work. He seldom go on variety shows or market himself, which is what actors usually do to be known in the industry. He literally finishes filming a 6 month long show and enters the next, sometimes without even a single month’s rest. But outside of work, he’s a very slow and cute person, gentle at heart and hilarious. He doesn’t really use his phone so he’s pretty cut off from society, very introverted and shy too, you can see his nerves shake when he’s surrounded by people. Anyways! I’m extremely happy to leap on this journey with you!

Episode 8 and 9: Great reaction! I always love you talking about the cinematography! And yes the kid being our A-Fei was hilarious, but in hinsight made so much sense xD The best way i could describe the Li Lianhua / Di Feisheng / Fang Duobing Trio Dynamic would be a grumpy cat, a domeneering doberman and a young golden retriever :D The heteroness in this case is quite necessary i feel, as there are many unresolved things. We shouldn't forget that both Li Xiangyi and Qiao Wanmian were very young when they met and started to have feelings for each other, both being somwhere between 15 - 20. Li Xiangyi in general was very young. He was 15 when he was considered the best martial artist, only 17 when he founded Sigu Sect and 20 when he became head of the whole martial arts world. He was only 20 when he "died". Which means he is 30 now, there is a lot of growing one does between 20 and 30 and a lot of things change! Things to keep in mind: No one can recognzie Li Lianhua because the technique the monk used to save him 10 years ago changed his appearance slightly!

It is painful to watch these two episodes again because Li is a character who sacrifices his whole life for others but has literally nothing left. The only thing that comforts my soul is that both Di and Fang "love" him and tried everything to extend his life span. Rewatching this with you brought me back to last year's summer when we laughed and cried for Li.

Ep 8: The reaction to the reveal was superb! :D ♥ And the whole first conversation between them, unbelievably unhinged! And so different from what one would expect. They do have great respect for each other. Both of them established a big sect while they were very young and they seem to have more of a history with each other than we know of, what with the whole dynamic they are showing us. Also, the whole 'introducing your new cat to the old one' scene at the lotus house with Fang Duobing and A-Fei. ♥♥♥ I love them so much. Ep 9: Me, the whole time to the meddling monk: "Dude, don't try to make het happen. It's not happening." :D Fang Duobing: "Don't you dare touch my man! Hands off, or I'll show you why you are afraid of Tianji Hall!" I just love that he isn't blinded or afraid by the status of most people. Episode 8 is why I talked about the rewatch! :D Now, things that was clear after rewatch before episode 8: Lianhua's fond smiles for the kid every time he could. Lianhua clearly knew who he was. Lianhua getting flustered when the "kid" tested him with the chopsticks. So, Di Feisheng also suspected him. Like, HONEY, how could you! The kid having gorgeous wardrobe Yes, the kid HAD Di Feisheng's sword on his back. The kid had same kind of attitude as Di Feisheng. Lianhua trying to protect Doubing from the kid, because he would get killed. The same tomb map was given on episode 5 to Di Feisheng by the witch that the grave robber boss was holding. (Of course, this does not necessary mean, he would have gone to the tomb himself, but he did) Also, the thing Di Feisheng was after was mentioned in episode 5. Lianhua immediately jumping to solve the case when they accused the kid to be the killer. Di Feisheng was the one that tossed the bodies out the first time to get the group to get finally to the tomb. As they said. The kid was needed to get inside the tomb. Episode 8-9: Yes, A-Fei wanted to find healing elixir IMMEDIATELY for Lianhua, when he heard he is poisoned. Rival, you say? Lianhua giving Di Feisheng his nickname A-Fei. A-Fei only smiling like that to Lianhua. A-Fei has more tough love kinda thing and Doubing soft love to Lianhua. A-Fei's EYELASHES! Trio shenanigans! Wow, and the kid actor... How amazing is he? And this is why FeiHua is a strong ship... And so is the other... and so is the trio, lol.

Helllooo! I am so glad you get to react to this show again! Cheng Yi as Li Lianhua in this is just absolutely amazing - I also come with come casual information: Our main actors are all voicing themselvses in this, so no voice actors! (a lot actually just voice themselve) The one exception is Li Lianhua when he is his younger Li Xiangyi-self - those scenes a voice actor is used (to portray his change and aging i guess) The book is not at all fully translated yet (and not based on a danmei), but one of the funniest informations i found out is that Li Lianhua canonically built his moving house out of the wreck of Di Feisheng's ship (the ship from the first episode) :'D Fun Fact: Madam Yu (the guard killer sister) is voiced by the same voice actress as Jiang Yanli and the same one also voiced Baoshan Sanren! Another Fun Fact: The name Li Xiangyi chose for himself, Lianhua, literally means lotus flower XD

I think Brittany's the only one who actually likes that ass-hat Zijin. Loved him as Yi BaiYi in WoH, but I want to hit him in the face with a hot iron in this show.

The more times I re-watch this, the more I love this triangle. Also the BG part of this drama is also killing me! You can clearly see love still exist in those two's eyes and they tried their best to smile when facing each other but the smile suddenly fade out when they turn away. T___T
