It seems like he has come full circle from killing all arachnae like Ana’s family to wondering if he did what he tried to do with her and other cryptids who were minding their own business really necessary in the end. The necklace was a great touch. As for the facility, it really gives me bad vibes of the Curator kind. It isn’t the first time in this world that noble institutions and individuals have been corrupted by evil.
