Is there a suggested guideline for determining whether an object or change created by a formula is 'fundamentally unnatural' and thus requires Permanence or is 'fundamentally natural' and does not (the damage from a spell doesn't go away after a while, right?)

Yeah. It should be something like "a SAN roll is made. Failure indicates the ritual is learned."

"Once this is done, a SAN roll is made against the SAN loss of the ritual." Is there another word than 'against' that can go here? It sounds like (in the example) Carter is trying to roll under a 1d4.

That would be an example of Restore that was not permanent, yes.

3. In an example, Restore from Essential Saltes only costs 1 POW+20 points, but Permanence has a cost of 5 POW + 100 points. Does Restore from Essential Saltes 'wear off' and return them to dust in this version?
