Sovereign of Shadows, Ella Preview!

Good day!

Today we have a preview for Ella, Sovereign Of Shadows, as suggested by Anonfox93!

Female sorceress wearing nothing except a eldritch flesh-suit that covers her chest, torso and knees and a horned crown. She sits cross legged with a bored look on her face head on a floating Eldritch throne that has multiple arms, eyes and mouths coming out of it, with some of the arms carrying weapons. half-sister of Shaccad'Yoggoth and an experiment of the Eldritch gods to create a half mortal hybrids. She carries out orders for the Eldritch masters but secretly has plans of her own.

Another of those challenging but fun to conceptualize suggestions!

For Ella I initially had a scheme where the throne had arms wielding the weapons, as anonfox suggested, but instead thought it would be cooler is she used 2 distinctive massive edges, and controlled them through magic!

Funny enough I think it is interesting if we keep a thematic of "Eldritch Blades" for all humanoids in the Shaccad Eldritch Archetype! (Since the queen herself also sported a distinctive blade")

Last minute I also decided to add a tail to the throne, in order to havfe some more attack types going on, when the time to animate her comes around!

Do you like this design?

Let me know! Stay tuned for her release!

Well. a) Almost all of it comes from Lovecraft himself. That includes the "Outer Gods" (Azathoth, Shub-Niggurath, Yog-Sothoth), Cthulhu (high priest of Yog-Sothoth), Dagon & Hydra (high priest and priestess of Cthulhu), Nylarthahotep (messenger of the Outer Gods), and Yig (the father of serpents) among several others. b) Hastur, specifically (a personal favorite of mine) was created by Robert W. Chambers but is now in the public domain. He and Lovecraft never corresponded and it was August Derleth that folded Hastur--aka the King In Yellow--into the Cthulhu Mythos. c) All of Lovecraft's proteges that built on on his pantheon and added their own deities in the many many many years since HPL died, literary badasses like Robert Bloch, Clark Ashton Smith, August Derleth, Lin Carter, Frank Belknap Long) all decided to "share alike" the deities and eldritch monsters from their work with all other creators, as their mentor/contemporary HPL had done for them. This even went on while HPL was alive, a kind of proto-easter egg (Bloch and Lovecraft wrote stories where they killed off characters clearly based on one another characters which is adorable), or paying it back: a good example is the weird elephant monstergod Chaugnar Faun which was created by Frank Belnap Long and used by Lovecraft in a later story (prior to that, various Lovecraftian texts and what not appeared in some of Long's stories as a kind of shout out). So basically, anything that is actually Lovecraftian enough it can be traced back to the man himself and you are free and encouraged to use, even entities like Shudde M'ell who was created by Brian Lumley in a story published 32 years after Lovecraft died, is considered to be part of the Lovecraft/Cthulhu mythos. Just reading rainbow now you know stuff. : ) If for any reason you ever need a resource on Eldritch outer gods and other cosmic horrors that should not be, I'm your source.

That is part of the plan!

ohh haha thats interesting! I actually conjured that name at random, or actually pretty, now that I think hard about it, I am 90% sure it came from an eldritch creature name generator back in 2016 or so(Yes the archetype is sort of that old, when I first sketched up the first creature for it, shaccad, haha!) I wouldnt consider these to be up to standards with what artists who depict eldritch horrors output, so thats why I sorta treat them as their own thing haha, But its interesting to know Lovecraft supported the use of his Pantheon! I think I had heard not all of them were available right, only the concepts and ideas which came from lovecraft himself, for example Cthulhu? :o

holy shnikes that is one badass babe. one badass evil babe. Random Question: any particular reason you're making up your own names for great old ones rather than using the "real" ones? Shaccad'Yoggoth seems like an expy of shub niggurath or yog sothoth possibly. Yoggoth (more commonly spelled Yuggoth) is another name for the planet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIAXKuxtTsc) Pluto in the mythos. I just want to make sure you know that Lovecraft wanted other authors to use his pantheon of Elder Gods and dozens or hundreds of authors and other artists have taken him up on it, in case you're using expies because you didn't know that was the case. If you're just trying to make your own pantheon for other reasons, cool.

A bit of eldritch horror and another dash of powerful queen... If she attacks with a flurry of blades, I'm so sold...
