Hello everyone,
The dork machines churn on as ever in the factory. Here's a look at what's been going on this month.
I really enjoy the posing stage of digital miniature sculpting. It's when the things change from a neutral blueprint to a snapshot of a character in motion. I like to get pretty particular about making sure everything looks natural and then I try to push each bone in the animation rig to be more dynamic.
It's fun to make stuff in a single pose that gives off a very specific vibe, and also, some people love the ease of printing a one (or two) piece mini and going straight to the painting stage. However, there are also a lot of people (myself included) that like to have lots of options when building minis so they can make the exact pose they're thinking of. This month I'm shooting for the best of both worlds.

For the new September sculpt I'll be releasing 5 or so static poses (like the image above -- WORK IN PROGRESS). And alongside that I'll ALSO be releasing an extensive builder kit!

I tried a new trick with the arms, waist and neck. The places where each of those pieces meet the torsos is always the exact same shape, so every arm, every head and every pair of legs is compatible with every torso (now that I say that out loud it sounds like every other builder😆but my sculpts are a little weird and making them work like that can be tricky). Usually I lean in one direction or another but this time I took some extra time up front to make sure both pre-posed and modular approaches would work.

Everything is made for the left side of the body. The idea is that any piece can be mirrored to fit the right side, or to face in the opposite direction (like the torsos). I've seen a couple other creators take this approach so hopefully people are generally accustomed to that method. I'm excited to see what people think of this batch! More to come on these guys soon...
Over the past month the patreon got a couple upgrades! The main one is that now all Dorkfactory miniatures will be backed up and downloadable for patrons via MyMiniFactory. Took a minute to get everyone set up but going forward this is going to be soooo muuuuch better.
Files will still be hosted on patreon during their release month but at the start of the following month patrons will get a very special email to add that batch to their MMF library!
A tier for merchants has been added as well! Quite a few merchants have reached out asking about this in the past and it's finally here. I read back through a lot of emails and messages and I think I got back to everybody who was curious but if I missed anyone hopefully you'll see this newsletter!
Alright, let's get to the fun part. Here are a few prints of Dorkfactory models from the community:

First we've got a really awesome conversion by @miseryminis. This is a house guard model mixed with a blademaster demon. Misery Minis does a LOT of cool conversions and tabletop projects. Also, if you like crystals I can think of no better recommendation.

This is another masterpiece by @nmcs_by_pmb. Nightmarecraft Studio does some breathtaking projects and I'm honored that Dorkfactory minis have been used for a few of them.

Lastly, here's my own print of the Shadow Screamer Light Transport Vehicle. Can't wait to paint this bad boy!
Alright everybody, that's it for this month.
Thank you so much to everybody who's joined the patreon this month :) It really means the world to me when people support the factory.
If you want to stay up to date with the latest you can follow the dorkfactory on patreon or instagram. If you're into talking about scifi stuff and sharing pictures of tabletop hobby projects check out the discord server!
I'll be back soon with a full preview of everything coming out next month.
Happy Hobbying!
