Dorkfactory Newsletter - June 2021

Here we are again! It's been another busy month in the Dorkfactory and I've got UPDATES!

A Couple Big Thank Yous

I want to start with a massive thank you to The Maker's Cult for having me as a guest artist. Partnering up with them brought in so many new people I can hardly believe it. They are chill and talented people and I'm honored that I got the chance to make something for the legendary TMC. Thanks guys.

I also want to thank all the new dorkfactory patrons! Welcome aboard! Hope you're enjoying this month's models. If the house guard and agony construct are what brought you here I think you might love what's coming up next.

The Vault and the Agony Construct

So I'm putting the Agony Construct (the TMC model) into the vault next month for everybody who didn't migrate here from the maker's cult, BUT since so many people DID join from there I felt like it'd be a little underwhelming to just add the model they already have. So, next month I'm swapping out the WHOLE vault. That way there's something new in there for everybody. I'm still deciding between 2 things right now but I'll put out a full July preview-post soon so you'll all see what'll be there.

Patronage Goals

This month we DESTROYED the 100 patron goal (...getting pretty close on that 150 as well...) so there's a new model in the starter pack! make sure to check that out if you haven't already.

Whispers of Merchant Tier

A LOT of people asked about a merchant tier this month and I've given vague indications that it's on the way. I just want to confirm that here. Lot's going on at the moment so it's hard to say exactly when but I'm hoping to get that up and running some time next month.

Early Preview for Next Month

So as I mentioned there will be a more comprehensive preview post soon but I'm too pumped about next month's new sculpt to leave it out! These are UNPOSED works in progress so NO JUDGEMENT ALLOWED! Feedback and constructive criticism are always welcome though. still some sculpting details to finish before I pose them. I have a number of poses planned that, I won't lie, I'm very excited about.

...Do they seem familiar at all??

Just like last month there'll be regular AND pantsless versions! (no it doesn't make sense but it got stuck in my head and I think it's funny so roll with it)

A New Regular Segment On Dorkfactory...

Another really awesome development lately is that a lot more people are sharing pictures of their projects involving Dorkfactory miniatures. I think in the future I might do a dedicated monthly post for Fan Makes (idk what to call them yet) but for now I'm just going to add them here. If you have pictures of projects with Dorkfactory minis or bits, send them to me or post them somewhere and tell me to share them! (Instagram and discord are the main places so far). 

Sculpting is amazingly fun and it's a reward in itself but seeing other people add their own creativity to my models is the most exciting and rewarding part of this work (yes I am a somewhat sentimental tabletop nerd). 

Here are some really awesome projects from the last month(ish). If you shared stuff before that, I'm comin' for you next.

@roudhouse4 is working on this awesome scene. Very into the addition of the beaker from the model which shall not be named.

@Nathan_ is chipping away at his gigantic genestealer cultist squad. Loving the subdued inq28 style color scheme. we collaborated a bit on the awesome patriarch/navigator conversion in the back. Can't wait to see how that guy turns out!

@Imganeous made a giant void navigator (148%!)

@vortaine is working on this really cool squad of house guard warriors. Super into the head swap and the colors are looking great. There are actually a lot more pictures on discord if you want to see more of these guys.

@Hobbes0451 is doing some awesome midnight blue cloud talons. Showing some true DIY initiative here and adding some wire because I rudely made no obvious way to base them, lol.

@ew made this lich guard... I don't even know how to express how much I like this thing. Colors that look great -- that I never would have thought of. An awesome base. Also the models that I sadly had to crop out to fit all three breathtaking angles of this beauty are AMAZING. full pics of this in the discord as well.

And finally, last and least, here are my own efforts so far at making a house guard squad. Really haven't had much time for these guys sadly but I did at least print every piece! (and then some)
