April Newsletter

Because of a move, some new projects and a big change with the patreon, it's been a while since I've been able to do a newsletter. I seem to always say there's a lot going on at the Dorkfactory, and it's true, but this time it's off the charts. Here's a look at what's new!

New Patreon System

I've blasted current patrons with info about the new patreon structure several time already so I'll keep it brief. Everything has changed at the Dorkfactory patreon. There a new method for making/releasing models, new rewards for patrons, pretty big price reduction, and more. Check out the about section on the home page to get the details of how it works now if you're curious.

Next Month's new Model

For the first model in the upcoming wave of necro cyborg sculpts, we're going with this messed up disassembled guy who's been pieced back together with robotic appendages.

This is the style I really love to work in and I've decided to embrace it for the foreseeable future so if you're into it, things are gonna be super awesome for about a year or so -- who knows, maybe FOREVER if people are really into it! This guy still needs some detailing and posing but so far I'm loving how he's turning out.

There will be a couple variations. The longer I work on this guy the more I realize he NEEDS to become a Drukhari Haemonculus, so expect some horrifying torture implements soon. I think this style of dude vibes really well with Dark Eldar so in general you can expect a lot of Drukhari proxies coming up. If you're as blown away as I am by how cool the new Drukhari codex is, hopefully you'll like what's on deck. I have a ton of ideas for new sculpts so maybe I should do a roadmap or something for upcoming releases...

The Maker's Cult

Big... BIG news everybody. I'm going to be the guest artists for THE FREAKIN' MAKER'S CULT this June. I am both honored and thrilled. I've got plans for a deeply disturbing model that can proxy as a Drukhari pain engine. I cannot WAIT to get this thing out there. I'll have more updates as the project comes along but here's a rough sketch of just one part of the model:

New Etsy Shop!

In other news, there is FINALLY a reliable way to get Dorkfactory miniatures in physical form. I've been wanting to offer prints for a long time but it took quite a while to find the right partner for printing. So if you're looking to skip printing, check out the new shop! It's a little sparse at the moment but I'm steadily adding more and eventually everything will be there.

Catching up on MyMiniFactory

One more quick note: I got way behind on updating MMF and cults with the releases of the last couple months. I like to have printed images with all my listings and my printing setup took a while to set up after the move so I had to to catch up on printing, but catch up I have! So you'll see a lot of stuff showing up there in the next few weeks.
