Taylor Swift - FOLKLORE (Long Pond Sessions) Reaction

I now understand why many people said I needed to hear this album. In my opinion, Folklore solidifies Taylor Swift not only as a pop star but a true artist.

Taylor Swift - FOLKLORE (Long Pond Sessions) Reaction

Comments

I just watched this for the first time and was moved by your reaction to it. I feel like listening folklore for the first time is a truly religious experience, specially with this stripped down LPS version and the context for the songs! I would advise you to listen to anything she has written or produced with Aaron Dessner, and I'm really looking forward to see what you think of Evermore, folklore's sister album

You know, I've come back to this video (literally) countless times now. I feel like throughout this video, we watched you go from someone who *can see the appeal and appreciated the lyrics and the entertainment value of it all* to someone who **feels* the appeal* and is all in to explore the catalog on the chance thats there's more of those moments of brilliance. (I promise, there is.) This is my favorite reaction to Folklore: LPSS by far and totally worth becoming a Patron for!

The “notes” cracked me up😂😂😂 welcome to the fandom… 99% of it is just trying to understand this amazing woman’s brain.

The night folklore the long pond studio session was filmed they poured that glass of whisky and Taylor wrote the first song that would become Evermore. The song is called Tis The Damn Season and imo it doesn’t get the love it deserves. Aaron said when they woke up the next morning she was like “ hey, I wrote this after y’all went to bed” and they just kept writing. Folklore and evermore have to be the beat thing to come out of the pandemic.

Thank you so much for this, this was such a great reaction! The Long Pond Sessions are really something special to watch, and are great alternative versions to the album versions, as they are way more stripped back. Her vocals are a little different on some on the songs, too, which I love! As far what to do next (in albums) I don't really think you could make a wrong choice. I guess it depends if you want to stay in the Folklore/Evermore era or do something completely new? If you want to stay, do Evermore. Something different, I would love to see your reaction to Midnights, but I think you should wait a bit to hear more of hear other songs first, as several as referenced a bit in this album. (As the concept is Midnight throughout her life.) My vote would be Red TV or Speak Now TV. Speak Now TV just came out, so its the era we are currently in. That could be fun! And Red TV just has some of her best all time songs ever IMO.

It was really fun watching you react to this album & become a solidified Swiftie! I think you would enjoy her NPR tiny desk concert. It really showcases her talent in a very different way than her stadium tour. Most of the songs she performs are from the Lover album though so maybe wait to watch until you’ve listened to that album 😊

On a non-album note, I think her documentary Miss Americana would be a good next step. It really takes you through her journey and allows you to get to know her as a person.

Jim since you loved Folklore so much you have to listen to Evermore as that is Folklore's sister album. Taylor couldn't stop writing after Folklore and wrote enough songs that Evermore was dropped nearly months after Folklore, so its a sister album

i really think speak now should be your next its an 2010 album but her version coming this friday its country-rock album

As a 33 year old dude that's a very big swiftie and listen mostly to rock and metal, I really feel you. This Is Me Trying and Peace make me cry and make feel seen. Your video was amazing, some of the best content I've seen. Thanks for doing it. PS: If you want to focus on production I would say that in my opinion her 3 best produced albums are 1989, Speak Now and Midnights. While I would say Speak Now has the best real instruments music and 1989 has the best synths. Also I think Taylor is always better live even if she's not the best vocalist.

Evermore is my favored sister of the two albums, but I think you should hold off on listening to it right away. Switch up her genres, and maybe do Red or Midnights next, just so that when you do get to Evermore, it's a breath of fresh air, like going from reputation to folklore. Also, sir, may I just say--i follow a LOT of Taylor reactors, and am a patron for a solid...oh, 6 of them, give or take. This was one of the calmest, genuine, and insightful reactions I've come across and I'm truly grateful to have found your channel/Patreon. One thing I will recommend is that any time there's an "alternative" version of a song, you check it put too. (I haven't watched your rep tour reaction yet--that's next-- but as you saw she did Dancing With Our Hands Tied acoustically, and it just changed the whole feeling.) Good examples of this is We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and I Knew You Were Trouble (red album tracks) as performed on the 1989 tour, Holy Ground (red album) performed at BBC Live Lounge, and Out of The Woods (1989 album) performed at the Grammy Museum. There's more, but these ones are really breathtaking.

Evermore is also a good one for you, since it was the sister album to Folklore. Folklore is more spring/summer, Evermore is more fall/winter. I think she took a lot more risk in Evermore and does some really cool things. Tis the Damn Season is one of my favorite songs of hers. No Body, No Crime is a JAM and a cool story. Tolerate It has some of her most poetically heartbreaking lyrics.

This week she is releasing Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). This was kind of a monumental album as it was her first completely self written album about she was receiving doubt from critics as a serious artist and writer. She was totally in her emo country/rock/pop punk exploration moment. She’s going to have Fallout Boy and Haley Williams on the vault tracks and it’s going to be insane. She has some big Swiftie anthems on this album, including Enchanted, Long Live (a song dedicated to her band and fans) and Mine. Plus some fan favorites like Long Story Short, Dear John and Haunted. You might be interested in this one from a production standpoint since it’s a newly re-recorded album and will absolutely be top notch. I know a lot of her touring band that’s been with her since the beginning will be featured. Plus you can really see her budding lyricism you loved in folklore taking shape. And of course her amazing storytelling.
