Lana Del Rey - Born to Die Album Reaction

Born to Die is a modern nod to charming music from years past. Often times BTD feels luxurious with a hint of self-deprecation.  Themes of love, money, and god walk a delicate balance of somber orchestrations.

the playlist was missing some songs from the standard album: radio, carmen, and summertime sadness. without you was on the deluxe, while body electric and gods & monsters are apart of her Paradise (EP) which was released after the album and later she re-released Born To Die and added all those tracks to the album called The Paradise Edition.

I'm doing a bunch of them today.

here for taylor and lana reaction, do more pls

Loved the reaction!! I love this album it’s very nostalgic for me and Lana has only continued to grow as an artist. I love NFR!! She exemplifies a very woman specific experience. This playlist was missing about 3 songs off the standard. Without you, body electric and gods and monsters were off different editions, either deluxe or paradise edition. I’d check the missing ones out on your own time, if you are in the mood!!

Ah Lana. I was a huge fan for years even named my dog after her. I was a depressed girl and her music made it feel like someone else got me and in a beautiful way. My younger sister was into her too and that’s when I started paying more attention to her lyrics and even at her concerts it was a lot of kids and it can be very concerning. I remember her saying that she felt she’d die before 30 like all the greats. She’s a bit controversial with some things she’s done and said but she definitely has talent. My favorite album is probably ultraviolence and it’s probably even darker than this one 😂 but yes NFR is amazing. I stopped listening after that album because I didn’t want to connect anymore… I literally listened to her every day since 2012 until I found BTS in 2019 and they said love yourself and I said ok wow I needed that. I think if you don’t understand her lyrics that’s probably a good thing…also she does tend to be a little edgy so some things might just be for shock value.

just the feeling i got from the music, your thoughts and the chat but i could be totally off track :D

Interesting thanks for sharing

Thank you for uploading! i think the best word i could find to describe her album to me is the Swedish word Vemod sadly it doesnt have a direct translation but the closest is pensive melancholy or tender sadness with a touch of nostalgia, wistfulness maybe? its not necessarly a negative emotion either. I feel like she took us on a ride in the late teens early 20s of a young girl/womans life (hers?) wild such with alot of heartbreaks. I didnt know much about her before this bar a few songs but i really enjoyed this, thanks for introducing me to yet another new artist 💜
