Young Forever stream. Dance Practices + Lives + MVs

We had an incredible BTS stream today! The highlight for me was when ARMY surprised BTS at Wembley stadium. 60,000 fans sang Young Forever stopping BTS in their tracks. What a beautifully touching moment.

Also, you probably know this by now, but the chat was wrong….Wembley holds 90,000 people not 60,000. BTS are one of only a small handful of artists in history to sell out Wembley, and they did it in 60 mins.

On a completely different topic than the above….. you can see how and why they were accused of lip synching by so many people early in their careers. Besides the industry just spreading rumors to try to crush them, they are soooo good live it is unreal and mind blowing, and they were from the beginning. No one who is actually involved in music believed that, because you can tell they’re mics are live and can hear them breathing and stuff, but those rumors still were trumpeted by the press and across social media to try to discredit them. The irony is that many of the idol groups or other performers do lip synch, because they cannot dance and sing at the same time, and no one bats an eye. But somehow if BTS were to do it it would be capital crime. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Re: the conversation in this stream about people saying BTS “look like girls.” That talk is 100% a combination of toxic masculinity and racism. Calling Asian men feminine, because of things like common differences in facial and body structure and less body hair than Europeans, is a common racist trope. The cultural standards of things like dress and behavior and what is considered masculine and feminine also vary widely by culture and many Americans are just really culturally sheltered and biased. Racist reactions don’t have to be consciously racist to still be racist. There are many unconscious biases and ingrained racist attitudes we absorb culturally and that we are not aware of, until we do become aware of them. That’s literally the definition of racism, it’s systemic and culturally ingrained power structure attitudes towards minorities, as opposed to prejudice, which is personal and individual and doesn’t have to be from a top down direction, but can come from anyone about anything. It can be really quite upsetting to discover unsavory cultural things in yourself which you have absorbed unconsciously, like unconscious racism, misogyny, toxic masculinity or privilege. It’s jarring and can fly completely against your image of yourself. But a sign of emotional intelligence and maturity is to be able to look at these things honestly when you become aware of them, and then to take steps to remedy them, to grow as a person and to thereby improve your society. You cannot avoid absorbing unconscious cultural biases. It’s not a moral failing. But it is a problem if a person doesn’t do the work to become aware of them and then work on them, to take steps to unlearn and decondition yourself and change your thinking. As Maya Angelou said “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” I appreciate the work that you do Jim, in helping to change thinking. It’s one of the things I have really enjoyed watching in some other reactors as well, as they realize their own biases and work to undo them or spread that learning to other people around them. BTS is out here changing the world by their example, healing and opening hearts and minds, and we can follow their lead. Borahae!

I just reached the young forever part... I was blessed to have been at the concert when the event happened. I'll never forget that day, it also holds a lot of personal meaning to me as that concert was the last time I saw my best friend before she died. (so the song has even more meaning to me). young forever has always been one of my favourite songs, but I personally can't listen to it often because it makes me so emotional. Whenever I look back on the Wembley concert it always feels so bittersweet.

I know I'm watching this late after you posted... i'm going through all these videos now, I'm currently on their live performance of ma city... honestly suga's verse hits so hard, especially because I actually live in his hometown Daegu. he's right... there's not much to show off like there is in Seoul or Busan, but there's something that makes me feel prideful for living here

I'll try again tomorrow. Thank for getting back to me so quickly. You're videos are apparently very popular (as they should be). I'll let you know if I have more problems. Borahae!! 💜💜💜

Unfortunately, Google Drive has a daily maximum view limit. It should be available after a 24 hour period. I'm also going to re-upload the video as a fail-safe. If you still cant view the video after 24 hours please DM me and I will find a way to get the video to you. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, it does.

Megan

Does it say it has the maximum number of views?

No!! This one also says I can't view it. This one has Fire, though!! Help! I need to see his reaction to The ironing Jin's shirt while he's wearing it!! And he did the Wembley Young Forever!!?! Gah!!

Megan

Love the compilations! Thank you Dream team. Thank you Jim. I already love BTS songs, but I'm appreciating more the older BTS music.

Thanks that really puts it into perspective. That line always seemed strange to me.

To give a little context to Nevermind and what was translated as “you idiot” — here, Yoongi uses the word 인마, prounounced “imma” which can be a little derogatory but is often used in an affectionate way to call someone younger than you when you scold them. Or a close friend. If used with someone you don’t know, then it is offensive. But here, it seems like Yoongi is giving advice to younger ARMY or his younger self. Sort of like, “hey dummy, you can do this.”
