BTS American Hustle Life EP 1 REACTION

Comments

Hello, I know you’ve finished the series but I’m just getting to your reactions now. But yeah, these first two episodes are especially infuriating. The kidnapping scene was soooo hard to watch the first time and I still feel so uncomfortable watching it. I’m the same age as JK, so to think of something like that happening to me at 16… shudders

I believe this is by the same producers that did Rookie Kings. Being mean, racist and tasteless is what they believe brings in ratings. The good news once past Coolio it gets better.

jungkook was 16 and jin was 21 in global age

they haven't said that much about this show but suga has said about the 'prank' that he did notice what was happening because of the cameras, so no wonder his seat was changed in the middle of it

When people say it's cringy - they don't mean BTS - they mean the show is cringy and what they were made to do and they way they were treated - as a westener it is embarrasing to think that that was their first experience with people in the west - what must they have thought of us. I often wonder what their opinion of the West was after that. They were so polite to everyone on the show - but internally they must have had severe culture shock. I cringe in embarrasment that they had to undergo all of that at all. I also cringe at the WarrenG version of Boy in Love - not cause of BTS but that instead of their MVs being applauded for being different to all the hiphop MVs, they are made to make a typical hiphop MV - nothing against WarrenG or the girls in the clip - just the concept was a total cringe - you know - bikinis, money, cars, bull sh!t, like all the other sleezy poser MVs out there made by people without imagination.... Almost like the they wanted to take the one different group and squeeze them into the same mold everyone else has and turn them into a bunch of players - it is their difference to the norm that most of us find intriguing. BTS were not cringy, BTS was the one good thing about the show - they handled themselves so well, and even in such conditions still made it entertaining for the viewers. I was so proud of them all. However, they were surrounded by those who were cringy - and give respect to the boys, dispite all they faced, they still gave it their best and learnt a lot and they went home with their dignity intact!!

This was painful to watch, thank you for doing it with us. I felt better with your comments.

I am like you, and feel it's important to watch to understand part of their history. Yes, it's cruel and cringe, but they went through it, I can at least watch it. They do have some really heartwarming moments. Also, consider how young they were during this. I believe JK was about 15-16 and Jin was 22.

I can’t for the life of me get myself to watch this show.. the clips I’ve seen before, and the summary in the rise of bangtan docu was enough for me 🙈

I watched the show. The only cringy parts are the kidnapping and all of the parts with Coolio. I especially hated how he treated V. I liked V even more after seeing this show because he didn't take Coolio too seriously and just kept being himself.

I had to skip the kidnapping part, I seriously can't watch it. The rest of the show is OK to watch, though, I think. If anything is cringy, it's not because of the boys - they're lovely as always. So, I think the show still offers a lot of insight into who the boys were back then, it's just that some of the production decisions could have been better...

For me it's just the first episode that is not fun to watch, then it gets better. I just approach it with the attitude that it's made for TV and scripted and then enjoy the parts that are genuine and a true learning experience.

I physically cannot watch this show, it's too much cringe for me to handle.

To be honest in my opinion there are only a handful of decent moments in this show, that are actually genuine, and learning experiences but the majority of it is quite cringey and down right cruel the things that they put the members through that are pointless and not only that, I also don't like how they are treated and or spoken to a lot of the time, with the exception of 2 mentors Tony, and Nate that were actually kind to them, plus overall I think it's better to just watch clips of the show where it's actually decent instead of sitting through all the other bullshit, till this day I can't rewatch the show in it's entirety and only watch clips of it because certain moments just really piss me off just thinking about it. Not only that but they have way better reality style shows that will give you waaaay better insight to the members personalities and dynamics, best one would be Bon Voyage, it's more organic and the members are better reflected and genuine there since they are more comfortable, where as here, it's more heavily produced and influenced by the producers like staging that horrible "prank" among other things that just make the members uncomfortable, so if you really want to keep watching it's fine but I would suggest that if your watching it again to see the members in a more reality, behind the scenes type setting to learn their personalities and see their dynamics they have other shows that better reflect that
