Johnny Smith Color Grading Finished

It took the better part of the week, but I'm satisfied with how the color is graded for this film now. It took 6 revisions to finish. In the the image above from left to right, you can see the transformations. Changes get more subtle as revisions advance.

As stated previously, I initially over saturated the print, which brings out the areas in which color needs to be fixed. This print was made in 1978. There was much yellowing that needed to be removed in order to make the greens more apparent. Secondarily, there was some magenta present in the darker colors, especially the browns that needed to removed.

Next is the clean up phase. This entails first reducing the flicker/strobing that is present. Then is the dust/scratch removal. Phase one is already completed as of this writing, and I've finished 2 minutes & 30 seconds so far of dust busting. Removing dust and scratches is quite an arduous process and even the best apps/plugins still ruin the animation when utilized. I have a new method that I'm using to much success. I'll post a video of the before & after later.

Below are the links the various comparison videos for each color grade. You can stream them @720p from Dropbox or download them to watch at a higher (1080p) resolution.
