There's a good in-canon reason for it coming up, and that explanation is paired with a funny little surprise! The page already was wordy, so adding even more exposition would have made everything feel rushed and sloppy, I still have plenty books and pages to go to expand on this lore so I want to take my time with it.

2021-11-03 04:04:56 +0000 UTCAlso fair enough. I considered it might be hidden under the hat, but I wasn't sure. The crown previously sat on the outside of her hat and they couldn't interact physically with it, so I wasn't sure if her hiding it under hat was truly even an option.

I'd been under the impression that from the containment failure on the spell to the present time in the comic, only a few days to maybe weeks had passed. I didn't think enough time to completely grow out and fade out the hair had come to pass. As you said, pacing of a page-by-page comic.

2021-11-03 03:47:48 +0000 UTCUnder the hat, Kamek did not feel at ease wearing a crown, does not jive with her firm sense of her place in the palace, so she hid it. Kamek's character is very strict and polite as well as "proper".

2021-11-03 03:45:59 +0000 UTCKamek's years caught up to the hair pigment, and (s)he simply cut it to a shape and brushed it after the explosion mess. the dress is new one, the "redesign" will be expanded upon later, sad side effect of pacing a page by page comic rather than having the ability to do it issue by issue is that sometimes people need to wait a bit for things to be clarified.
