An important notice before going on

90% of the behaviours introduced in this release don't have precalculated animations, there is not a specific spot to land the controllers on nor any patterns to understand the coordinates. The movement is solely based on the girl's hands tactile feedback.

Also, I noticed the last two release I zipped rooms with audio preloaded. It can cause slowness at the start and ruin initial settings, so please use the new 1.20 rooms without audio preloaded (or delete the audio files from the previous rooms if you want to use them)

Animations? Where we're going we don't need animations!

As promised I have expanded the discovery, and I did it in the best possible way, that is giving the girl the hands tactile sensibility. When I started to plan it I sincerely scratched my head for several days trying to find a good way to implement it. I also though it was impossible at a certain time. Interaction with girl was nothing compared to dynamic interaction and mapping of the boy's body, believe me.

The result is a super flexible and interactive behavior though, that basically disrupts the limits of the predefined animations. Sincerely, I don't know how far this can be pushed, but even with all its current limits it already represents an important jump forward. 

So let's go digging it:

I wrote a lot, but as last thing let mw say I really worked a lot on this, so I hope you will enjoy it or at least find it interesting 😋 .

A new dimension

At a certain point I had this crazy idea of adding verticality to the girl world vision, so I started working at the climbing system. It's still very simple so far, it works on stairs only, and fairly regular ones. On regular stairs it's very robust though and can already climb a lot of stairs types, with steps not too tall and not too narrow. 

Stairs must have at least 2 steps to be accepted by the girl, but she will try to climb it to the top if she recognizes a feasible shape. There are a lot of scenarios that can be used now and probably even better in the future, like a multi floor house scenario.

I added a new room with prebuilt stairs (StairsRoom). If you use it, remember that the girl will always choose the nearest staircase, so in case approach the one you want to try with the girl before activating the behaviour. There's a new stairs in the apartment room too.

You can create new ones too, obviously, it's very easy, you can use any piece of furniture regular enough to be stacked as steps (I use IslWallPost a lot, for example, and I change their physical properties to enlarge them). Just be sure the steps are not too high or too narrow.
So please, create safe stairs for our baby 😁 .

You make me wish I had three hands

So after having created the hands tactile system and the climbing system I thought: "why not having the girl exploring herself on the top of a stair?". And so the new mix@ stairs was born.

Some details on it:

For now the touch system is still gross, it doesn't have a proper distribution system, recognizes where it is but it's not able to regulate the whole hand. I think there's room to improve it massively and that this is already on the right path. It's incredible the animations she puts in place without having defined one of them previously.

Also, I know it's not a proper mix behaviour, but it will grow next month and it has already a good dynamism so I honored it with such name on trust 😁

How to use it

Regolo Engine 1.20 has been built and tested on VaM 1.20.77.9.

Detailed instructions about dance folder and dance UI can be found in the 1.8 release post.

It's highly recommended to disable soft body physics to enhance the experience and avoid undesirable effects. In fact the many random frictions caused by most of the behaviours generated by the plugin cause unpredictable soft-physics reactions.

Change physics update cap to 1 if you experience trembling issues.

Also an important recommendation: safest way to start over the plugin execution is to clear it, reset girl's pose manually (from the person -> control panel) and then reload it. The plugin tries to automatically reset the pose at every start but it's not always perfect.

Please remember the furniture list known by the girl, below. You can delete and add duplicates but there always must be one and only one couch with the guy over it. Also, don't create steeplechases and create a regular environment as the standard room provided, please.

"AptSofa" (mandatory and just one) beside the sofa there should be at least one of the following known furniture (PlayerNavigationPanel for example, and they can be also more than one for type)

Limitations and caveats

- Consider always that anima and obsessions are mutually exclusive. Every time you choose one of them you lose the previous settings. You can check your current choice looking at the yellow info box at the lower left corner of the UI.

- The Enchanter room tries to load 500+ audio files at the beginning, but it doesn't need to do that again if you just reset the plugin.  The songs for the dancing load at the beginning too (but can changed and reloaded in real time via UI).

- Being it totally procedural, there can be better and worse runs.

- Some behaviours have really a large spectrum of possibilities, so some unlucky variations are unavoidable.

In the end

I'm very excited for the hands tactile feature, guys, it was painful to develop but now I have an incredible tool to be used. The engine has grown a lot since the beginning but this one is really something special. I hope my imagination will leave up to it .

We will find out already in a month, I guess.

I'm certain it's working as you intended. Completely my mistake. I just didn't notice the new options were in a second level menu :P

Thanks for taking the time to test again. All the 1.20 dicovery ui options are tied to girl ui second level though, so it means they should appear all together when the "+" button is pressed. If you see them scattered is still not working as intended, so I will take a look nonetheless. But it's good they are there, in one way or another :D

OK, i figured it out. I was doing some more testing and i just realized that when you go into discovery mode it defaults to the 1.19 menu then you have to click on the plus sign to advance to the new 1.20 options. I don't think there's anything buggy - apart from my brain :P You could probably remove the first level discovery menu as it seems redundant with this release. Apologies for the bum steer, i was just a little confused by the menu structure.

Ok, I will check it out. Just one last question, does it happen in one version in particular or in both? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the reply :) Yes the menu I mostly see is the 'old' discovery menu (the one from 1.19 without the only girl/dual, focus, delicate options) sometimes i get the new version (with all the new options) but it feels quite random.

Hi Darren, thank you, I'm happy you see the potential of this new approach, for me it's a game changer since it can shape new scenarios with the girl without having to build specific animations. The old approach is very effective for the particular scene you create with it, but the animations then aren't easily reusable outside of the context. Obviously it's impossible to give up completely on the standard animations, but I will push on the new ones as far as I can, hoping to reach a satisfying and flexible compromise. About the 1.19 menu, it's kinda worrisome that the new options don't always show up, basically the new discovery menu (the one with focus, exploration speed, delicate touch etc) is fixed and doesn't ever change, even if it defaults to "Only girl". So, to better understand, what you see is the old menu, the one only with "Disposition", "Lock disposition" and "Reactions", where even the new "Interaction type" drop menu (the one with "Only girl" and "Dual"?) is missing? The only standing handjob built so far is the one from idle, you can trigger it with the "Force handjob" button. But I admit is just a partial experience and since it is just an early version of the most sophisticated ones appeared in the latest behaviour. I will add a new version to the todo list with pleasure :D .

Congratulations on this release. Dual discovery is an excellent next step and it works really well even without dedicated animations! Everything has so much more personality now. Learning what the girl likes and doesn't like through her reactions is so much fun to play around with already. For me it's a clear way forward for the plugin and I'm really excited to see how far you can push this. Using the new awareness to trigger interactions is an obvious end goal I feel. One thing i have noticed is that most of the time it defaults to the 1.19 menu so I can't access the new options. If i generally wander about a bit and change in and out of discovery mode I can get the 1.20 menu to appear but it sometimes takes several attempts. Is there anything specific that needs to be done to trigger the 1.20 menu? It might be the fact that it defaults to 'only girl' that triggers the old menu? Not sure. On a more generic topic - I only just noticed there's no option for a standing hand job (wanderer). It might just be hidden somewhere - but assuming I've not missed it - could i put a polite feature request on the long term roadmap please :)
