Proper details are unknown to this day but apparently Shannen decided to leave the show because of drama behind the scenes, specifically with Alyssa as those two did not like each other which mean't that due to this falling out Shannens likeness was never used in the show again which is why you never saw her show up as a ghost or even a picture of her at the funeral etc. As a side not though, the last scene between Paige and her Mom. There are actually two versions of this scene with only one small but in some ways big difference, originally when the episode was broadcast as two separate episodes when Paige sees her Mom she was to shocked to say anything but for the movie length version Paige actually says "Mom?" when she sees her. Unfortunately during the remastering process CBS screwed up and used the scene where Paige didn't say the word "Mom?" which is a shame as I actually prefer the version where she says the word "Mom?" as it just as more emotional effect to me.
