Also, pretty much everything Illyria says is poetry and her conversations with Wesley about humanity are quite deep and sad. “In my time nightmares walked among us.———-And now nightmares are trapped inside the heads of humans. I wonder whom they angered so to merit such a fate.”

2022-09-24 18:44:39 +0000 UTCThere’s a lot of great lines and callbacks in this episode though, which make it feel like an underrated episode for me. Callbacks like Angel quoting the first thing Fred said to him in Pylea, and also some fun callbacks like the world of only shrimp, which is first mentioned by Anya in that Jonathan-centered alt reality episode in Buffy season 4. Also briefly alluded to a world with no shrimp in season 5 of Buffy (Triangle). But I recently noticed another callback (maybe I’m reading too much into it) and that’s when we’re in Wesley’s dream/nightmare and Fred asks him to tell her a joke. It sort of calls back to Smile Time when he and Fred were conversing about how she’s looking for a guy who’s funny, and Fred says: a certain kind of funny……maybe this dream is Wesley’s subconscious showing us that deep down he knew Fred was falling for him then and he didn’t allow himself to believe it before. Idk it just makes their late relationship even more painful

2022-09-24 18:40:42 +0000 UTCYea this episode is quite depressing in its outlook, Gunn deciding to stay behind because he feels he needs to atone for Fred’s death and Lindsay’s speech in the end. Very sad times for team Angel 😔
