Added 2021-05-21 13:25:36 +0000 UTCHey guys we’re recording a podcast for you guys that’ll have some cool segments as well as interview highlights from Roger & Mike fisher before we release the whole thing, one of those segments is going to be talking about musical hot takes, aka controversial opinions in music, things like “stairway to Heaven is way overrated”, “the Freebird guitar solo is honestly way too long”, and things of the sort! Comment some of yours and we’ll pick some to talk through!

Saying Stairway to Heaven is overrated is like saying The Beatles are overrated. Something that is absolutely exceptional and unsurpassed simply cannot be overrated. Sorry, no. And I can't believe after 40 years I still hear that tired "it's too commercial" nonsense. Commercial compared to what? Their other recordings that most people don't listen to? I mean duh! Commercial is a good thing, sweetie. Every great song out there is "commercial!" I gotta stop hanging out where people like this chat. It brings out the worst in me.

If you want to argue one song shows superior musicianship or complexity, you can point to specific examples of such measures, but to say one song is "better" is spurious. It's a fun debate to have, but basically it IS a matter of taste and individual preference and doesn't go anywhere
