MONTHLY Q&A ANSWERS FOR AUGUST - LEAVE QUESTIONS FOR SEPTEMBER HERE IN COMMENTS

These are the answers to the questions received last month. Please leave your questions for next month in the comments below, and bare in mind the rules:

ANSWERS FOR AUGUST 2025

Q: Do you ever have plans to speak on the ongoing civil war in Myanmar and the country's ruling military junta, the Tatmadaw?

No, I am one person, I cannot and will not talk about everything and it is weird that so many of you practically demand that I do. My token acknowledgement of issues doesn't count for anything and has no affect on anything.

Q: Would you ever make a video about Africa (apartheid, the bush wars, Belgian Congo, etc.?)

Almost certainly, but I don't plan my videos years in advance so I can't say for sure. But if there's an African topic I'm most likely to make a video on first it's probably Algeria

Q: What are your thoughts on the Katyn Massacre? The mainstream account is that it was done by the Soviets. I’ve read though from some leftists that it is Nazi propaganda to bolster the double genocide theory.

I think if you see every historian saying the same thing and the only ones who disagree are "some leftists" it's probably a lot safer to go with the historians.

Q: Since you did a few videos about Cuba some time ago I would love to know what you think of the current situation. What is the reason for all the electricity problems? How is the political situation?

Cuba was hit hard by the pandemic and a lot of big economic policy changes that also happened around that same time. But I think you can and should probably look into this yourself rather than asking me. I have faith in you!

Q: can you put the center for proletarian solidarity beanie back up for sale?

This was taken down because the design is considered "too complicated" for embroidered items according to Fourthwall. Their 'revision' removed the outlying text completely and there is no way to salvage it so it just won't be sold anymore.

Q: Outside of Palestine, what historical topic do you consider yourself most well educated on?

Aboriginal Australian history

Q: Your essays are so well researched I was wondering if in the future you might gather information on the history of official pirating of shipping in international waters by state actors. The reason I bring this up is that NO ONE is mentioning the obvious fact that Trump is threatening to do this in conjunction with this assault on Russia's oil shipping fleet. It is so obviously a point of war yet no one points this out. What do you think?

No. If the topic is so interesting for you I suggest you work on it yourself rather than asking me to make a video on a topic I have never previously expressed even a modicum of interest in.

Q: Please research and put up for consideration an essay on how the Cuban people were instrumental in defeating the South African racists in their attack on Angola. And that this was a major reason the regime was weakened to the point of dissolution. Thanks!

No

Q: are there any topics that you're intimidated to tackle? whether intimidated about the amount of research, not enough reliable sources, etc.

No

Q: Is there a dignified and mature way to engage with the pagaentry and symbolic legacy of past socialist movements or is that something that always leads to being a deluded weirdo?

Dressing up as a Soviet soldier from 1943 is always going to be bizarre and I'm not sure what other sort of thing you're talking about.

Q: I'd love to know a bit more about your creative process. Specifically, how do you know you've found a subject that's worth the time investment of producing a main channel video?

I choose my topics based on whatever I feel sufficient motivation to make videos on. It takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2-3 months of 60+ hour work weeks to finish most of my video essays so I can't force it. This is something that will be different for many people and what I do isn't going to work for others.

Q: Hmm. If you had to recommend a worthwhile video or video essay to watch other than your own, what would it be?

Nothing comes to mind, I don't watch many YouTube video essays myself except to refute them. Maybe the one by Rev & Reve on October 7th?

Q: what do you think of the current push for global internet censorship? the age filters for sexual content are already hitting videos of palestinians being slaughtered by israel and it's only gonna get worse.

It's obvious that the intention with this is broader censorship and it's not a coincidence at all that this is happening now that social media has taken away much of the government ability to control the flow of information, because Gaza has made this more obvious than before.

Q: I have an eternal fear of spiders, so I wanted your thoughts on the terrifying spiders in Australia.

Australia doesn't really have many spiders you run in to with any frequency that can hurt people. There's more than in other places and some of them are bigger than average, but most people there live in coastal cities far away from the actual dangerous wildlife and stories of its danger are highly exaggerarted. The few genuinely dangerous spiders are very rare/local to specific areas and can't cause serious harm to anyone who seeks medical attention in a timely manner. I have literally never once seen any of these spiders btw let alone been hurt by them. The worst thing I've ever run into were non venomous snakes.

Q: Are there any possible future developments you are feeling hopeful for in the near or far future?

In broad terms? No. Things have been getting worse in global politics for at least a decade and there's no signs of this changing anytime soon.

Comments

In your view, is the online leftist politics content space entirely a grift or is there potential for even a little bit of genuine good?

chewchewtrain

How hard should we push back against people who champion the narrative that Israel controls America and completely ignore the obvious role Israel plays as a contract killer for the American Empire? (PS sorry for annoying you and getting blocked on X)

Antiques Roadhead

As a historian what is your opinion on historical materialis as a method of analysis, is it too rigid in its way of looking at the world? Do historians today have better methods of looking at history?

MarxMan

Did you ever cover this story? The Guardian ran with the headline: "Jewish man mistakes two Israeli tourists for Palestinians and opens fire on them in Miami" (17 Feb 2025)

FAB

Do you feel less motivated to make videos about Australian politics since leaving? Would you ever make a video about the NSN, or do you believe it's not worth even mentioning those drop kicks?

Felicity

Have you seen the MentisWave response to your response? If so what are your thoughts
