This curious fungus is usually found in moist places, such as in the undergrowth or in moldy caves. Single specimens, however, occasionally happen to sprout in pots if obscured enough by larger plants. A most welcome incident to many people, since the jester’s cap is said to brighten one’s mood with amusing moves and refreshing tunes. The two blue dots right underneath its cap are often mistaken for eyes, while they are in fact auditory organs giving this critter excellent hearing ability. If scared by loud noise or put in an excellent mood, the jester’s cap displays a mesmerizing performance, forcing its audience to enthusiastically join in – either to distract or to enjoy the party.
