Question: "Besides A, does Mal have any other friends in town?"

Answer:

“My tolerance for others isn't the highest despite my patience,” Mal conversationally remarks while scanning the Fernweh Diner to see if a customer is in need of immediate attention. Their gaze eventually resettles on you, allowing their polished smile to retract away as their expression marginally softens. “A is a unique case, but you're a far more special one… The answer is ‘no'.”

You blink once at Mal's surprisingly straightforward answer, though they only seem to find your reaction entertaining, leaning closer to where you're seated in a booth that's become yours.

“I prefer it that way,” they add. “But I also have a preference for you as well, [W_Nickname].”

So, it seems Mal doesn't view themself as having (needing?) many friends at all.

This is mild Trent erasure; however, that is mainly because A knows Trent! I can reveal that Mal has a slight, mutual fondness for Clyde, which is something you can see hinted at in Chapter 1 of Book Two because Clyde seems pro-Mal. 🥰 The dynamics between the other characters will come up as you play; for instance, S-mancers who are romancing Mal will trigger a mention of Trent and J-mancers will notice Trent mention A in the station. All of these minor nods/details will help to shape the dynamics in Fernweh. I'm excited for you to learn more!
