Surprise #2: A's Pet! π (Poll)

I must say this poll is rather perfectly timed given our most recent alpha drop which hopefully brightened your day with the one and only ray of sunshine, A. Corvin. You will have read (or should eventually be reading) how they take on a greater role in the series! The variation in this relationship is something I hope readers explore. :D
I mentioned this on the previous poll's post, but these narrative influence types of polls can be a fun way for you all to leave a mark on the story that you will be able to recognize when reading in the future!
This poll is about A's pet! Specifically, what kind of critter do you imagine them having that isn't one of the typical farm animals they might have grown up with out on the Corvin farm/the more rural areas of Fernweh. The Returning Visitor will get a chance to meet the rest of the Corvins next book. I will say that A's pet can come up in more ways than you expect, a payoff in a later book, depending on some other choices. (It goes beyond the pet being adorable, although that's a valid reason too.)
I'm going to be leaving this open until July 26th to let everyone have a chance to vote.
Please find the potential pets below! I included links to images in case you don't recognize the animal in question. I find it amazing how TFS can be a common interest across countries; it's touching to me. π₯° Ignore the fur color in the images; I haven't yet decided that. They aren't a 1-to-1 match in some cases.
Potential Pets:
Hamster (A classic choice.)
Bunny (Another classic choice but more cuddly, imo.)
Flemish Giant Rabbit (Idk how A got this type of bunny? Magic. It's a very large bunny. I first searched: 'Welsh Rabbit' and got recipes before I realized my mistake. >.>)
Chinchilla (My former teacher accidentally stepped on our class pet. You never forget that.)
Ferret (A fluffy slinky with feelings. They're rather intelligent, I think?)
Raccoon (It would be domesticated! They could go berry picking together.)

Oh man. A moment of silence for everyone involved in the Chinchilla Conspiracy, t'was a true tragedy. I'm glad to know that you got a new pet, though! I'm sure they were quite happy staying put in their comfy aquarium, away from the feet of the giants πβ¨

Well, the humans all made it out (mostly) alright. π€ What is unique about this is that there was a slight 'coverup' since this happened after-hours with only a few kids around helping clean up. I was one of them! It was a chinchilla conspiracy, ngl. We got a bearded (?) lizard for our next class pet; one who was kept in a glass aquarium and didn't roam. π¦

2023-07-20 16:43:04 +0000 UTCNow I'm even more excited about this interaction with R and Naia among others that will bring out teasing banter. π I love how chill Naia would be with a massive snake wrapped around her, treating it like a dog--that fearlessness and ease would likely evoke an oddly impressed reaction in R. I mean, they might first do a double-take or remark on the lack of fluff, but there would be a certain respect for both Naia and the serpent. "My how you look like a queen with a most unconventional boa..." -R. Verner ππ What's cool is Naia being at ease with the snake would eventually make R slink closer to both of them.

2023-07-12 22:46:56 +0000 UTCI'm loving the mental image of a rabbit being able to command a room, even claiming it for themself, by chasing out any cats or dogs who were lounging around. ππ I agree with you! I think it's maybe because bunnies aren't as common of pets, but they can be so uniquely emotive. My cousin had one; I'm more familiar with cats, but I remember a few fun encounters. A's pet will certainly have a fun personality.π

Not sure if this one will win, but if so, I'm itching to write R's reaction, especially on the JR pathway during the family dinner. Naia might get her chance! (She may also get to tease R.)

I love the idea of A toting around a massive bunny with such vigor and pride even as the bun outgrew their arms. π°π― A is the type of pet parent to still view their pet with the same awe as day one. (Chinchillas are so fluffy.)

I can see Sparrow vibing with a racoon, not to mention how A's pet might try to grab at Sparrow's chains because I think they like pretty/shiny things. :D

XD I also recall this was the animal A chose as their favorite after they realized they couldnβt choose all of them in their birthday post, and I'd love it if they got their fluffy friend. <3 (Personally, Iβm partial to chinchillas; theyβre so softβlike petting a cloud.)
