0242 - Grandma

This feels WEIRD.

Most shows don't get this noticeable a shift between seasons. Perhaps I'm just so used to the common conception that season 1 is the "bad" early season, and it gets good after that, but season 2 already feels different, pretty much unanimously for the better. The writing is more confident, the jokes are slipping into more of a style we are used to, and the animation is more consistent. We're still with Klasky-Csupo, but many of the weird side freaks of season 1 are gone. For now at least. I'm sure we'll find some.

Anyway, onto the actual character for today. This is Grandma (or as the Simpsons Wiki labels her, "Evil Grandma") from Escape from Grandma's House, a arcade game that Bart plays.

She gets a line or two in the game, qualifying her for inclusion here. We actually saw this arcade cabinet back in the Homer subplot of Moaning Lisa, several episodes ago.

And we see its sequel in season 10's "Bart The Mother":

An arcade game character also gave me the chance to bust out the pixel art software that I spent like £30 on and never get to use, so please enjoy that wee sprite!
