Sibling Rivalry: The One Where We Discover If We're Smarter Than a 5th Grader

My favorite queens are not queens that I would categorize as "nice". Bob, Bianca, Thorgy, Trixie, Willam, - yall are the funniest people I know of and I value your opinions very much - and I would never describe any of you as "nice". Bob is hilarious, smart, hardworking, and I value her reason based thinking and that she always wants the facts and not conjecture, and I value highly that she has taught me how to be a better white person. I value those traits MUCH MORE than I value, say, Blair St. Clair. Also, just because you aren't "nice" doesn't mean that you're mean. I don't think it's either Blair St. Clair or Acid Betty.

Bob, 100% agree with you about driving and following the rules. There is no reason to drive recklessly, faster than the speed limit, or not follow the rules of the road. I'm in Brooklyn and the amount of accidents I have seen on the BQE because someone just wasn't following the basic rules of the road.

Fun fact: I was a PA on the 2nd season of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader and was assigned to help the 5th Graders on set. These 5th graders were given study guides telling them what to study for the show. This is not a secret, as there's a disclaimer in the credits which states this, but nobody seems to notice this. Don't feel stupid if you don't know the answers to these questions. If someone told you what to study, you'd probably get the answers right too.

I appreciate the conversation about reckless driving. My dad was killed in a hit and run and I can only imagine what that person was doing to hit someone on the opposite side of the road on a bicycle with reflectors. And if they had called an ambulance immediately, he might've lived but instead they left him there for his brain to hemmorhage for hours before someone found him.

On the “what is nice?” topic….I always try and look for the INTENTION! What was the intention of the gesture/act? Was it for validation? Was it because you love me and care for me? Do you want something in return? Did you have extra and wanted to be of service? The intention, to me, is the most important part. WHY we do what we do.

imo being nice and being kind are different - I don’t think anyone can BE a nice person, but you can do nice things for other ppl. whereas I (optimistically) believe the majority of people are kind. An action someone does may not be nice, but it can be kind e.g. your friend telling you your toxic partner is sucking the soul out of you - hurts in the moment, but you’ll probs look back at that convo and be grateful they were honest w you
