LinuxCNC + Mesa Card Video

EDIT: Thank you for the feedback! I've smoothed over a few rough edges anyway :)

Guys and gals, is this too boring for a public release? I was aiming for a little demonstration of a LinuxCNC + Mesa setup and its advantages but that made it neccessary to cover all the  basics that probably everybody knows already.

I am adding some oscilloscope jitter histogram measurement and some VFD and servo load displays to the LinuxCNC UI today, maybe that'll make it a bit better?

Why yes, as a matter of fact I can! There are these similarly unknown FPGA cards from Mesa, I've heard they are great for when things get complicated ;)

Marco Reps

Haha, yeah, I am very proud of that!

Marco Reps

okay, done. I bet this one will bring me to the trending page :)

Marco Reps

I bet he did ... many many times before :)

I would suggest that when linuxCNC is the topic most people don't even know it exists, on a related note, can you recommend a non parallel port based device that linuxCNC can talk to, i've been toying with a 5 axis build and it seems like one of the better options =D

So, the beast is up and running. Cool, congrats

I'm not sure how much my opinion counts in this case, since I'm a CS major so my own interests and hobbies are much closer to this than the 'normal' content. But as I see it this is exactly the type of thing people come to the channel for. The series in particular is about documenting the journey/process of creating a professional grade CNC from scratch. The software and tuning parts are an important step and can't or shouldn't be left out. It just so happens that this is also right up my wheelhouse (right up my alley?).

This is exactly the type of content many people (or at least me, for that matter) subscribed to your channel. It has everything needed: subtle humour, your face in a YouTube silver plate x and strange noises from a yet oscillating monstrous machine.

Mark Krützmann

Agreed. Not boring. I had more than the minimum count of chuckles during viewing. :-)

Jeff Groves

Definitely not boring =).

Morten Steinecke

Boring? Never. That face through the glass window was hilarious

you should definitely work on your advertising skills and use a different title 😎

Uwe Zimmermann

He definitely said metal chips tomorrow!
