Dr. Rudolph van Richten
Added 2024-12-04 16:00:04 +0000 UTCThe doctor's been portrayed in a number of ways, like a soft, unassuming little man with white tufts of hair and an odd smile (Ravenloft 2nd Ed. module), or the owlish monster hunter with amazing hair and a hat of disguise in Curse of Strahd. I chose to portray him a little further on in his journey, after several years of loneliness has taken its toll. As an old man myself, I can sympathize with the cursed doctor, having no one to took after him (nor should they) and dedicating what remains of his life to the study and eradication of monsters, like those that claimed his family.
This fellow isn't a sabertooth-wrangler with a racist axe to grind, he's made his peace with those that have wronged him. He still has his misanthropic habits, though, keeping everyone he can at arm's length. Can he find peace at the end? Can anyone?
