Teleporter Studies

Hey, all! So, while we're going through the month, I thought I'd share something with you. One idea I've had is for my series' world to have some sort of teleportation gates to allow the denizens to get to and from places easily. I've been sitting on the idea for a while now, and I've decided to draw up a few concepts.

One of the ideas was for a warp chamber, with a keypad next to it. The user would have to punch in the coordinates to set the destination, and despite what the picture shows, it could potentially hold up to four people at once. After setting the destination, all the people would have to do is stand inside the chamber and it would warp them to wherever they set it.

Similar in concept is the warp gate, which is based on both the teleport gates from the Jak and Daxter series and the portals from the classic Spyro games. On the side of the portal is a pad of buttons that work like elevator buttons to set the destination... I didn't think that all the way through in hindsight. I just thought it'd be funny. Once the destination is set, the user would only need to walk through the portal.

The last of the concepts for now is the portal machine, which is based mostly on the warp orbs from Crash Bandicoot: Warped. To select the destination for this one, there would be a mini-map right beside it. After the destination is set, you'd just need to stand on the button and then jump into the portal it creates.

However, no matter the variant, all three concepts would have the same limitation. The teleporters of Avalos work by being set to another active teleporter at another access point. This, however, only works if the other teleporter is already active. If it's not, or if there simply isn't one there, then the residents will have to find another way to reach their destination.
