Changes to speedpaint raffles

Hello everyone,

on saturdays stream one of our patrons made us aware of a change in Patreons terms of service which affects us.
It's nothing of major concern, so no worries.

The thing is, Patreon no longer allows raffles.
This means we can no longer do the speedpaint raffles as we used to do them in the past.

Since this affects the $20, $50 and $75 tiers, we figured we'd talk to you about it and find a solution together.
That's what this post is here for.
(my apologies, $30 tier can see this post too, due to technical limitations of Patreon, so it can't be helped, but please note that since this affects only $20, $50 and $75 tier patrons we're discussing this with patrons of those tiers, $30 tier please ignore this post)


We want to talk to you about a possible solution for this problem.
Several patrons suggested that $20, $50 and $75 tier patrons should be able to make suggestions for monthly speedpaints.
Afterwards we (Cres and Wolf) look at the suggestions and select a few, which we will put on vote for all $20, $50 and $75 patrons.
Why we think about selecting a few has the following reasons:
If we happen to include all suggestions, it's highly likely we're going to have more entries than patrons, and thus it might happen that votes are spread too thin.
Now if we narrow down the possible number of entries beforehand, it should be much easier to select 2 speedpaint suggestions as winners by having our patrons vote on the remaining entries.
I hope this makes sense?


As for the voting process, there's several possibilities for this.
One patron also suggested we could use Patreons "heart icon" (fav-button/like-button) to hold votes and prevent manipulation, as every parton can only "vote" once on a post.
This is actually quite a good idea.
The only problem would be that $30 patrons could vote on it too, because they would see the posts too since technical limitations of Patreon (despite them originally not being able to participate in the previous speedpaint raffles).
So unless there are objections to this, we could handle this months speedpaints and all future speedpaints like this.

By that I mean:
$20, $50 and $75 patrons (former "speedpaint-tiers") are able to send in suggestions for speedpaints.
We (Cres and Wolf) select a few of them, and put them on vote.
And finally $20, $50, $75 and $30 patrons as well, are able to vote on the speedpaints (via the heart/fav/like function) to select the two speedpaints that get drawn.

If there are any objections to this, please tell us why, and what you think would be a better solution.
Please note that our suggestion is in no way final, and that given your feedback, we might make even larger adjustments to this if necessary.
We would also like to settle on a solution within the next 7 days.
So we can't consider feedback that we get after the 7 day period, we hope this is understandable, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the change in the terms of use and our need to react to it.

P.S:
Yes, we're also removing the speedpaint "raffle" notice right away and replace it with a notice that the specific tiers are able to vote on which speedpaints get drawn.
