It's Morning Again in Norrath

There's a ton of optimism and excitement today as EverQuest II launches its newest TLE server, Varsoon. It looks like a lot of players, both new and returning, are planning to set sail for the Shattered Lands.

This is a great chance for us to welcome a number of new members to the Darq Side. I've messaged with several of you about how to enable DarqUI 4K, so it's probably a good idea to mention the process here, and also show you how to get a new character set up quickly.

DarqUI 2K/4K How-To

Start by checking for updates with the utility, and make sure the Patreon logo appears at the top. If you don't see that, check your email for a message containing your private access key. Right-click the Size (Sz) column and choose All Large (these are the 2K-friendly components) or All X-Large (4K).

In the case where you want to mix and match sizes, you can do that too. Just scroll down to the component of interest and choose a specific size. Easy!

Next, click the Update files button which will replace standard size pieces with your chosen size. Thats it! Now restart the game and enjoy exploring our favorite virtual world without squinting.

Setting Up a New Character

When you build a new character and set sail on the Far Journey, you'll see DarqUI but your character won't have any personalized data yet. Not to worry, since you won't really need anything special to get from the boat to the island.

At some point whenever you're ready, log out and open the utility to the Quick Setup page. There you'll find your new character. (If you don't see it, log back in to Character Select, then reopen the utility.) Click Set up to configure some basic customizations automatically, and then restart the game.

I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to dropping in on Graystone Yard and Longshadow Alley to remember some very good times.
