I was rummaging around for something and came across the honest-to-gosh original EQII UI and thought you might get a kick out of seeing some of it.  The windows don't work any more, but it's fun to remember when we had maybe 10 stats to keep track of including Armor Class (that's "AC" in the pic), and numbers higher than 9999 were unheard of.  Who cared about commas back then?

"Persona" and Inventory were separate windows, no tabs, no appearance gear, no mercenaries, none of that.  The Broker was for purchases only. To sell anything you had to go into your house and put your character into vendor mode with a separate Store window for your item sales.

The old skin info calls it "Default Skin 1.0 Beta Sept 19, 2004."  It was sized for 800x600 resolution.

Simpler times.

I remember this, it was also when the coins didn't automatically change and had weight. If you sold a huge amount of stuff for copper you might wake up with 50,000 copper on you and have to slowly clunk to the bank to change it into gold.

and of coarse, that was when the game was wonky as ever, and the game kept logging you out every day, at least once a day, for like a month. didn't matter that you were selling, you woke up to the game logged out with no explanation. sometimes you got notified, sometimes you just were, umm, what happened to my game?

I remember the Broker selling way way way back when... You actually had to stay logged in, to be selling from your house. If you logged out, you stopped selling.. LoL... Good Times Good Times.

Lots of amusing sample text in the old UI -- early devs had a wacky sense of humor. There is some in the new default UI also, but not as much and not as comical.

Now I want to go to Befallen and see about running that Wussy Ass quest!
