Big neigh, small neigh.

I'm going to be trying a different style of painting once I get the current commission closer to completion.  I wanted to do something very quick, without a ton of detail and that had a bit of an 'animated' feel to it.

I've had this vision of a Lathraedi petting a Reix on the nose and him just melting in happy.  I don't know who they are specifically, but it was something kind and that I could quickly sketch out and draw since it's not the most visually intricate piece.

I don't draw a lot of Reix, since.. well, horses are a whole thing to learn to re-draw.  I'm rusty, but I do like drawing them.

Some folks might not know what Reix actually are.  The short explanation is that they are shifters, able to take on the 'guise' of a horse to a close degree (Not quite fully, but very close.  Their eyes are too 'sentient').  Historically, some thought they were blessed by one of the gods (Asciemnos Reix) as wardens or boons upon their families, others saw them as a curse.  It entirely depends on the views of the Lorrnath in that area.

These days they are simply mixed into the population.  They sure make plowing the fields a lot easier since you don't have to guide them.

You can also pet them on the nose.

Aw! They just liked seeing their very tiny horse-frand! :)

A neighbor up the road from me had a small hobby farm with a few horses on it. Lovely dark Bays who did like being petted on their heads, even their noses. What they REALLY liked was my brother's female Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She was raised with horses in her previous life and adored the gentle giants. They loved her back, even braving a 'correction' from the electric fence to touch noses with the little dog.

Perfesser Bear

I might try out a series of images of these two. I'll need to practice up some horse sketching again though. It's been a while! Luckily I have tons of refs in the art folders.

It would be interesting to see something with a larger field of view in this style. I think you may be on to something
